@1080p the 7600x is around 20% faster and @1440p it’s around 15% faster for average fps while gaming.

The biggest thing you should notice is the 1% lows being higher and that will make your gaming experience feel a lot smoother.

For gaming the 7600x is a great cpu, I use one with no complaints.

100% with the 3080fe I had at stock power limits I’ve seen it pull 325 watts by itself.

    Sooo.....
I just loaded starfield, played for maybe 10 minutes and got this driver timeout error. This is the first time I've had this happen.
I'm on windows 11 rig is in my sig, Running adrenaline 23.9.1
Now I'm gonna be up all night trying to fix it, if I come up with something I'll let you know , I'll make sure I post back here regardless

Is this happening across all of the 7000 series cards?

I’ve had my 7800xt for about 2 weeks now and Dead by daylight, Rdr2, cod mw2, fallout 3/4/NV/76, Starfield and Fortnite have all been great. I haven’t had a single driver timeout issue.

I do believe your having issues tho, I had a hell of a time with my 5700xt when that launched and switched to nvidia and just now came back to amd with am5 and the 7800xt

In my experience this is usually an issue with fast boot. A later BIOS can fix this, though so can just disabling fast boot in Windows and in the BIOS.

Might be worth messing with the SOC voltage slightly, 1.25V should help the memory controller run higher frequencies.

Gohardgrandpa got a reaction from maartendc in Why is AMD so late in releasing the 7800, 7700, 7600?
Clearing out old stock before releasing new stuff is the smart thing to do. Look how long nvidia has been doing it, at least amd dropped the prices on the 6950xt heavily.

OP is requesting thoughts, and here is mine: it never was a good option. High-end cards tend to gobble up all the power, just so your eyeballs can get flooded with some fancy photons. Smooth and good enough quality to distinguish things @ low-ish power == perfection IMO. I wouldn't want to have such a card in my system, not even if I got it for free.

Ok I finally got home and installed cinebench R20 so it’s apples to apples.

    They got
    OC - R20 Single 630 - Multi 8711 or OC + High priority  - R20 Single 625 -Multi 8908

My 5900x is running 4.65ghz all core, 1.23v
R20 Single 601 Multicore 9124 max temp of 72c and the cpu pulled 185 watts. I knew my single core would be lower because it’s not boosting as high due to manual settings.

    This is OP’s R23 results
    R23 Multi Core 22433
    R23 Single Core 1609

I had also tryied PPT 165, TDC 115 ,EDC 150 that gave me:
    R23 Multi Core 22521
    R23 Single Core 1590

    My 5900x 4.65ghz all core 1.23 volts
R23 multicore 23565 cpu temp 74.1 and the cpu pulled 185.696 watts
    R23 single core 1550 cpu temp 49.3c

Something ain’t right with this. I’m running a PA120 air cooler and manual OC on my 5900x and get a little over 23k in R23 and at cooler temps than the Op is getting with the aio. I’ll have to double check but I think I’ve got it at 4.675ghz all core @1.2V Soon as I get home I’ll edit this with the results.

I’d go 4k 16:9. Ultra wide is great when the stuff works natively but that’s not always the case.
If you have the room for a 42inch grab an oled and enjoy it

    I’d do a 3060ti for 1080p and a 3080 for 1440p.
I ran my 3080 for months on a 1440p 165hz monitor and it was great. I swapped from a 3070 to the 3080 on the same monitor and saw a big improvement in fps at that resolution.

If your ok with buying used Reddit hardwareswap group is the move, I’ve been seeing 3080’s selling for $5-$550 on the regular

It's true tho, I had a 10850k that overclocked great. My friend got one and that things wouldn't overclock for shit. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. I miss the old Core 2 days where you were really able to gain a ton of performance overclocking with the lower end chips

I went in and checked to make sure everything was off other than game mode. It's weird as hell. I have used this tv for almost 3 years, PS4 pro, Ps5 and a series x and have never had an issue with input lag. I play MLB the show a lot and it runs just as good on the tv as it does my monitor, for some reason it's running like shit when hooked up to my pc.
