I’ve never been an ultra settings guy, the fps hit at 1440p was noticeable with the 3080. I figured AA and foliage would be good ones to turn down don’t know what else would be good to turn down.

I’ve had my 3080 10gb for a few months now. Was using it with a Dell s2721dgf 1440p 165hz monitor and everything was great, no complaints. My friend calls me and asks if I want his gigabyte m28u 4k 144hz ips monitor for $300. Naturally I jumped on the offer as it’s $529 new on sale right now and his was maybe 45 days old. I get the monitor, still has the plastic on the back, screen is mint so I set it all up. Boy oh boy that fps drop is real, I knew it would happen but didn’t think it would be as major as it is. I play a lot of old stuff. Siege, dead by daylight, fallout 3/NV/4, Rocket league. Those all ran great, then I started having my fps issues. Pub g, Cold War without dlss, apex legends all run way lower fps than before. What games and settings do you normally run? Is there certain stuff to turn down in game that barely affects visuals but improves fps ? I don’t mind turning stuff down to stay around 120fps. Thanks in advance for replying, hoping to hear your experiences with said setup

It's true tho, I had a 10850k that overclocked great. My friend got one and that things wouldn't overclock for shit. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. I miss the old Core 2 days where you were really able to gain a ton of performance overclocking with the lower end chips

The real question is why TF would anyone pay $2k plus tax for a 4090 strix to start with

I'd get the 6900xt over the 3080. It's the stronger card, I have a 3080 and it's no slouch

Gaming on a 1440p 165hz monitor and web browsing only. Literally no work/streaming Ryzen 5600x, Msi B550 Gaming carbon wifi, Rtx 3080fe, 2x 1tb WD black gen 4 nvme, 2 tb Wd black hdd, corsair rmx 750 I've been using a set from a friend. Team group rgb delta ddr4 3600 cl18-22-22-42 and haven't had any issues with it but he finally got a gpu ordered today and needs the ram back that I'm using. Don't really have a budget, I can spend up to $150 on ram if need be, would rather not waste money so figured I'd ask here. Ideally plug n play, set xmp and be done. I don't want to tinker with timings What do you suggest I get from Amazon (USA)? I got a bit of credit there that I could burn before the wife uses it. I don't plan on upgrading anything else til next gen ryzen (8000) series and rtx (5000) series

The only time RT is worth it is if you have an 3000 series card and use DLSS at the same time to bring your fps back up. If it doesn't have dlss I leave RT off

G skill kit is 14-14-14-34, 3200mhz $109 Patriot is 14-16-16-36, 3600mhz $87 Patriot kit 2 is 16-16-16-36 4000mhz $90 is there a different kit I should be looking at ?

Using ryzen 5600x, gaming at 1440p would it be worth it to switch from ddr4 3600 cl18 to 3600cl14? I need to get new ram, I borrowed this set from a friend when I was in a pinch and he needs it back so I gotta order ram today. Is it worth it to spend $90 for cl14 3600 vs $70 for cl 18 3600

I went in and checked to make sure everything was off other than game mode. It's weird as hell. I have used this tv for almost 3 years, PS4 pro, Ps5 and a series x and have never had an issue with input lag. I play MLB the show a lot and it runs just as good on the tv as it does my monitor, for some reason it's running like shit when hooked up to my pc.

It does not, I have the option to name the input as computer which I have done and gaming console which I've also done. I just renamed the input manually as pc.

The tv is in game mode, that was the first thing that I checked. Everything is fine temp wise, gpu usage is at 99% and running good. My fps is fine, I cannot figure this out for some reason
