  1. okay well this probably will sound pretty ridiculous. But the tube was AT LEAST a year old and has been used before. I think it actually was some kind of mx4 thermal paste. But yk, OLD. oh yeah totally. not my first rodeo with reapplying thermal paste. So yeh i got some kryonaut thermal paste for a few dollars. Just applied it and so far seems like its been fixed. Highest settings, 200% render resolution at 1080p in Destiny 2, max 70c at roughly 1300rpm. nice.
  2. So i just opened my "new" Gigabyte 3070 gaming OC as it was both loud and hot. The thermal paste was MORE than dry. It was like a hard cake that i had to scrape off the heatsink with my fingernail. I knew i had some thermal paste laying around that i could use, but i didnt find it. I however found a bit older thermal paste that i used. However upon booting up and trying Destiny 2, it immediatly went to 70c with the fans at 2000rpm (before, 60c at 1300rpm). Im guessing its caused by my "old-new" thermal paste i used. Can seriously not think of any other reason it would be doing this. While the "old-new" thermal paste wasnt really watery nor dry, im certain its age still somehow made it worse over time (ive had it in my drawer for a looong time). Should i just order a new tube of like grizzly thermal paste or could the mounting be the issue? I made sure to screw it together with a cross pattern etc. Only thing stopping me from opening it up again rn is that it got 3 of those cables that are suuuuper annoying to unplug and also hella short. Those were the whole base could come off with the cable, and i rather not break the GPU after only having it for 5 days.
  3. So im in need of some good quality bluetooth in-ears (hard-tip) or over-ear headphones for when im working. My workplace can be pretty noisy place so id like them to be pretty sound-isolated, a plus would be if they also got some kind of "awarness" feature, so i can still hear important stuff around me if needed etc. As i said before they could be over-ear or in-ear, though in-ear should be the ones with a hard-tip, like the original airpods as i cant use the ones with rubber-tips. If they are over-ear headphones id like them to be snug on my head so they dont fall off easily. Sound quality should be acceptable, not too shit but im in no need of hi-fi quality.
  4. yeah i know what lineage OS is, only issue is that there are no official versions of it available for the Xiaomi 12. First thing i did was actually to unlock the bootloader on the Xiaomi 12, but it lacked good custom rom support so it was basically a dead end. Tried Xiaomi.eu but i had a weird bug where incoming calls wouldnt display properly. Ended up locking the bootloader and reflashing stock firmware then returned it to the store and got all my money back. Ive also started to consider the pixel 7 being a solid choice but with a bit bigger screen.
  5. So i bought a xiaomi 12 around 2 weeks ago for a merely 500€ and it was at first a really good deal, until i actually had to use it outside my home.. The device itself is great, buuut it has some pretty big flaws that are a deal breaker for me. First of all the build quality, camera, screen, sound etc are GREAT compared to my previous phone, buuuut the battery life on it is seriously SHIT. I use it for just browsing and i can BARELY get 4h of SOT each day. The idle drain is a bit better but its still waaay too shit for me to actually be able to use it as a daily. MIUI is also a reason why im going to send it back. I seriously cant handle how bad MIUI is. So in short, im going to return it to the store i bought it from since they offer that within a month of your purchase. So im now in need for a replacement phone instead, one thats around the same size, could be a bit more expensive (+300€), got great battery life, cameras that can record anything over 4k 30fps. Any other features is just a +, but the previous is bare minimum. So far ive only got the zenfone 9 on the list as its reviews are most of the time about its excellent battery life for its small form factor. The AUX is also a nice addition as i dont have any bluetooth in my car. This costs 780€
  6. You could also take a look at the zenfone 8 flip (as huilun02) or zenfone 7 flip. Might find a local deal near you for around that price.
  7. Would you know where or how to find it within event viewer? Ive already followed a guide that showed how to set up a folder for bluescreen logs, but nothing is in it, and i had a bluescreen legit yesterday. EDIT: nvm, it had something in it, but its a random error from today?
  8. So i installed windows 11 a few months ago cause i thought it was "relatively" stable. Well it first seemed very smooth, but i soon encountered a lot of random bluescreens. Id get one every like 1-2 weeks, while on the desktop, gaming or anything else so its not specific to certain program. Normally i would just check the code that it gives me during the bluescreen, but heres the problem.. Whenever it actually bluescreens, it goes soooo fast that i cant read anything. Its like, BOOM, bluescreen, restarted. All within a second. I tried a SFC /scannow yesterday and it claimed that no corrupt files where found. Windows is also up-to-date. Im on the edge of installing windows 10 again, only thing thats stopping me is that ill need to set up all the programs again etc. So please help me fix this BS.
  9. uhh so yeah, i checked HP own dissasembly video for this laptop, and even after removing the motherboard theres still metal in the way. So the keyboard is basically baked into the chassi. I may have missed something, but it seems like the only way to "clean" everything is to just pour alcohol over the keyboard and use something like a Q-tip.
  10. So i accidentally spilled a soda on my old school laptop like a year ago, and at the time i didnt really care about it as it still worked fine. After i graduated i actually got the laptop from the school for free, but it had been sitting in their storage for a month or so before, which in turn made the keys REALLY sticky. I thought about opening up the laptop and cleaning the keyboard from inside, but the keyboard is like, not removable. Gotta remove the motherboard to even get access to the keys.. Soooo all my keys are really sticky now and im not really sure of what to do, or how to even clean them.
  11. Damn, well it seems like it still doesnt want to work.. After i uninstalled the drivers it hopped up to ~1650MHz for a sec so i thought it was working again, however after i installed the new Nvidia drivers its once again stuck at ~1164MHz? Seems like Afterburner doesnt like my GPU anymore.. EDIT: i accidently closed afterburner completely when i tried to start a game and the clocks all jumped back to normal! However i opened afterburner again they all dropped down to ~1164MHz. Seems like afterburner is my enemy here. I never really had a major overclock on my card to begin with so i think ill just unistall it and run the card at stock speeds. EDIT 2: well i found a bit more info. Seems like my saved preset(1) in afterburner somehow was fucked. Reverting to stock settings, applying the overclock and then saving it to a new preset(2) fixed the issue, now the card boosts as it should.
  12. yeah after a DDU core clocks are back as normal
  13. So I've been running this card with a +125MHz overclock on the core and then +500 on the memory, and its been working great for the past 2 months. However now it wont go over 1151 MHz while gaming? All i did was uninstall afterburner, installed Precision X1 (just for fun), then uninstalled precision X1 (it sucked), installed afterburner once again and now the core clock is stuck. I CAN apply an mild overclock to the card for it to go a bit further. Applying like ~+400MHz on the clock now means that it runs at 1551 MHz, however anything over that just crashes. What could've happened? I've already tried to reinstall afterburner and I also made sure to check for files left from Precision X1 but nothing has helped so far. Power is set to normal in afterburner but it still only uses like 70-100w compared to ~130w it uses normally. Theres no way it broke from THAT! Im going to try a classic DDU..
  14. So i finally got enough of the shitty cooler that this card comes with and decided that a Morpheus II would be the best bet. Ordered it yesterday and it arrived today. I was first a bit confused as to how it were suppose to be mounted on the card, but once i finally figured it out everything else came together with ease. Only other thing i had some small problems with was the VRM cooling. The included adhesive thermal pads did not like the small VRMs and did not stick to them at all. I had to tape together a few of the bigger heatsinks with the same adhesive due to the smaller heatsinks not being able to stick to the thermal adhesive. I also had to use a zip-tie through the normal VRM heatsink mounting holes to hold it down. (zip-tie was added a bit after this photo was taken) NOTICE: the RX 480 got 14mm between the mounting holes while the heatsink got ~13.8/13.9mm or something like that. So it doesnt fit perfectly but still close enough for it to be mountable and not do any damage to the card. I also noticed that the VRAM never really had any sort of cooling on the old heatsink. They did not touch the heatsink and they did not have any smaller heatsinks attached to them either, so they should be able to perform a bit better now with some real cooling ontop of them. The cards backplate didnt fit with the new cooler either if you wanted to know. Before i mounted the new cooler, the card would usually sit around 80c while gaming, and if the game was too demanding it could easily jump to 86c. The fans didnt really adjust their speed according to GPU temps either, they just kinda went full speed whenever they wanted to (~2800rpm). Now it got 2 120mm BeQuiet fans strapped onto it running at a constant ~600 rpm. However, with the new cooler installed it NEVER reaches anything above 55c!! Screenshot is after 2 hours of Destiny 2 gameplay at high settings, 1080p at 144hz. I also tried Valheim as i knew that game really liked to boil my GPU even at lowest settings. But i can now run it at highest settings while still staying around 50-60c!! While it still was kinda hard to mount its still a mod i really recommend due to insane difference in both sound and temps! GPU-sag is something to look out for tho as the heatsink and 2 120mm fans can weigh quite a lot more than the original heatsink. I also tried running Furmark just to see how good it would perform under extreme usage. And after 3 years of shitty GPU heatsink i must say that im EXTREMLY suprised by how cool and quiet it is! This is after 20 min of furmark at 1080p Fullscreen and 4x MSAA Anti-aliasing: Its a lot more THICC than before too. Easily takes up 3 PCIe slots, so make sure you got a big case that also supports longer GPUs as the heatsink will stick out depending where the die is. Dont thighten the heatsink too much either as the card can start to flex (mine does flex a bit upwards, so ill have to loosen the mounting a bit). Dont roast my PC, i know its dusty af. Im going to give it a good clean tomorrow. Also, MSI really trolled me with their "black" motherboard, that turned out to be shit-brown instead. >:/
  15. Ill just throw this out here to let everyone know that I in fact got a new phone, and are in no need of advise anymore. Thanks! In the end, I got the 11 Lite 5G NE for ~350 USD (a week after my purchase dropped the price to ~300) and its been going pretty strong, both with performance and its battery life.
  16. So my old JBL Tune 225TWS is starting to fall apart for some reason, after just 2 months of usage. And because im so god damn stupid, i managed to loose the receipt, so i cant ask for a new pair. So im instead looking for another pair of true wireless earbuds for roughly $50 USD. Im not after some cool and useful features, i just want earbuds that sounds good for every day use while going from and to school. The only requirement i have is that they DONT use rubber-earbuds. I want HARD earbuds as they sit better in my ear and more comfortable. Location is Sweden, if its necessary.
  17. Nope. Even if both the games use 99% of the GPU, they use each different amounts of power to achieve it, which may result in certain games running hotter than others. My Rx480 can run Forza 5 at 80c no problem, but will overheat like a mf when running for example Devour, which is because the games are differently programmed and optimized.
  18. So i got myself a logitech C615 webcam for christmas, and it works amazing. BUT of course i got some problems with it, first of all, the dedicated software doesnt work. It allows me to change the cameras lens option so widescreen or standard, but whenever i use the camera in for example discord, it only gives me the standard lens option, so its suuuuper zoomed in. And if i change the saturation, brightness or contrast in logitechs camera software, it doesnt change the cameras output, so its only visible within logitechs camera software and nowhere else. What other webcam program could i use?
  19. That sounds pretty cool, but I'm not really after those "memories", I'm mostly after "new" games that are worth playing. Buuuut I guess I should just check which games that are available for reach system.
  20. So I've been trying to find a good new phone game for the few times I do a bit of commuting, but most of the games available on Play Store are games for children or its those crappy Chinese games. So instead of gaming phone games, I thought I might try and emulate old console games instead! But I cant really find a good console to emulate. I've thought about NES, SNES and GBA, but I want to know if you have any personal favorites based on performance and the games available for it. What console would you recommend I emulate?
  21. Well the 780 is still a pretty decent card, and based on how the GPU market looks like now, id say its a pretty good deal. While it only have 3GB of vram, it should still be able to run your stated games with ease. And for streaming, it will be a breeze for it as it got Nvidias Nvenc (decoder built for streaming and recording). But I would try and stay within 720p 60/30 FPS as its still a pretty old architecture. Now, things that would be good to know is first of all if the card works or have any type of problem. Then id ask things like what condition its in, like is it dusty? Does it have visual damage? etc.
  22. Well we cant really say anything as there are a lot more things than just which GPU and fan speed. Try it, if it works then good! if it don't, find another solution.
  23. So its been a few days since I bought the 11 Lite 5G NE (MIUI 12.5.8), and its been a great upgrade so far. Only thing I've encountered with the phone is that each app that sends a push-notification is still active and running in the background even after I swipe away its notification. So each app that sends a notification doesn't get stopped, and instead is still running in the background and drawing power. Only way to stop the apps is to force-stop them through the settings. I mean how hard is it for MIUI to stop each app that doesn't have a notification? If I swipe the notification away, why the hell would the app still need to be running? Each app gets stacked, and within a few hours I have like 5 different apps active in the background, like this: If I remember correctly, this was something I didn't have any problems with on my Redmi Note 7, which ran with MIUI 12.5. Maybe I should hop back to MIUI 12.5 on my 11 Lite 5G NE too? Seems like the most stable and problem-free MIUI so far. Do anyone know what the problem could be? Why wont the apps close after their notification is removed? I would try and flash a custom rom on it to increase battery and performance, but im not so comfortable when rooting stuff, and a new phone that gets bricked isnt really fun either. From what ive seen are there no supported roms for the phone either, so im stuck on MIUI.
  24. Id also recommend at LEAST 2 fans in the front, but id say put them in the middle and top, as the PSU got its own fan, and most PSUs are closed of on the connector side so an extra fan in the front most likely wont help the PSU at all. In the top position it gives the CPU cooler fresh air instead of using the GPUs hot air.
  25. I seriously doubt the 280x will be able to run far cry 6, unless you really want to lower your resolution beyond something like tetris. With only 4GB of vram and an old GPU architecture it most likely wont be very playable. EDIT: Seems like it doesnt even have 4GB of vram, it only got 3.
