  1. If it were nefariously obtained, I wouldn't be posting about it here nor would I post without anonymity. Just saying. I was using the game as a current example of what I'm trying to accomplish. This is something I would like to know anyway for a better understanding of firewall rules and how to operate them properly in regards to having control over my applications and programs.
  2. Windows firewall won't be able to do the trick too? Could you be a little more specific about how I should set up that outgoing rule?
  3. I read that if you create a new rule in your firewall for that program to prevent it from performing any online communication it would work, even on steam games. I dl'd this particular game separate from steam and it's a few versions behind it's current build that's on steam. I'm stumped lol.
  4. I'm trying to keep an application (game) from going online and launching steam. I looked up the process to do this but I'm either missing a step or just not getting it at all. My PC uses 64bit Win10. Thanks in advance!
  5. Figured out and fixed. It had to do with a malfunctioning router, why that is i'm not sure but it's no longer an issue.
  6. That's interesting and seems equally as puzzling and frustrating as my issue is, for sure. Hoping somebody has even a clue as to what it is outside of the Discord bug I have read about and what your mentioning. Unless, of course, it IS Discord causing all of this. I'm still pretty lost as to the origin of the problem. Thank you very much for your input either way though!
  7. Really?? I searched around for others with the same problem and they seemed to be having the issue with Discord and Discord alone. I mentioned how it happens on steam chat as well for me which honestly is the only thing that's making me pull away from it being Discord as the source of the issue. Did your friends find fixes?
  8. Super odd! I have tried disabling all other output devices and I don't use any auto detect settings for sound and I dead-ended with those methods as well.
  9. So lemme start off by saying that I have a pretty decent base knowledge of computers etc but I'm no tech wiz. I can pretty much fix most problems I encounter on my PC outside of the obscure. My current issue is hard to explain but I'll try my best with what I know (I'll post PC specs and Headset info under my question). I haven't had any audio issues until about 3 days ago and it seemed to be instigated my nothing I can figure out. I haven't made any recent hardware changes or added any new software to my PC (outside of maybe a steam game or two) in at least 6 months. I will be in Discord or any other chat service i.e. Steam chat, and I will all of the sudden not be able to hear the other people I'm in the chat channels with but they can still hear me fine. Game audio stays fine and system audio doesn't seem to change as far as I can tell. the only way I've been able to band-aid the problem is to leave whatever chat service I'm using and re-join. Unfortunately that doesn't sustain, after about less than five min I can't hear them again and they can still hear me fine, it's very strange. I went through all the cursory stuff, I've uninstalled and re-installed all audio drivers, attempted Windows audio detection/repair, tried switching to steam chat because I was initially pointing at Discord being the problem, re-installed all of my AMD GPU drivers just to be thorough, checked more than just my main headset to see if the problem occurred on those too (it did), performed a system restore and did a full factory reset of my PC entirely. Nothing worked and the problem is pretty consistent in how it presents itself, everyone can hear me fine and I can hear them then they just go quiet on me but they can also still hear me as if nothing is wrong (I can see the green circle indicator that they are speaking too even though I can't hear them) and I have to leave the channel and rejoin until it reoccurs which isn't very long at all. I'm at a loss after performing a full scorched earth on my PC and still having the issue even though is should be performing as if it just came out of the box. I've driven myself MAD with this problem and ANY idea or possible solutions would be greatly appreciated! I feel as if my inability to diagnose the problem might just have to do with a level of PC knowledge that isn't in my wheelhouse. ALL SPECS BELOW.
