no. if you are considering spending so little on a GPU you should be spending less on a cpu and more on the gpu.

drop down to a 3600x for 269CA and its a much better value, then spend more on a more competent GPU like a 5600xt or someth ing

    8700k is 6/12.

1050ti would absolutely be a bad choice with either of these CPUs.

    8700k/9700k is a 2060 super/1080p 144 minimum

Even at 1080p with a 2080ti, with equal clocks there's really negligible difference between the 8700k and 9700k

    Where did they originate?

My parents are Chinese and it took a lot of whining to get an NES in the late 80s.

Get him in front of a PC and allow him the pleasure of experiencing it himself.
    Maybe then he'll understand.

Since you are still a minor (which I am assuming) and living with your parents, they are allowed to make that decision. The only way you are going to get them to be more forthcoming is to put some real effort into your education and show some initiative. These things are also very important for your future.

With your specs, you can still play a lot of older, very nice and challenging games. You might not have a go at those fancy AAA titles, but there are plenty of other games to choose from. You might not be inclined to try them at first, but your options are limited, so make due with what you have and try to appreciate it. You won't be disappointed in the long run.

Mister Woof got a reaction from ChaosCGTV in Best sub-$150 AMD CPU to upgrade?
Personally, apply another $24 and get a 3600. The difference in IPC is much much more noticeable and well worth your $24.

Going from a 2200G to the 1600AF/2600/2700 will get you more cores and threads, but IPC difference is like...eh. You won't notice it almost at all outside of more multi-threaded apps.

The 3600 will get you noticeably more punch pretty much at everything.

I purchased the Kraken X73 through NZXT's online store. Currently writing up an ticket with them now. I see they've released a Kraken Z73.. maybe they'll let me do a return for store credit and I'll pay the difference to upgrade since I need to rip the entire thing out anyways.

Optane is one of those technologies that sounds good in theory, but in practice falls short and ends up being a compromise that doesn't satisfy anything and can be accomplished better with existing solutions.

Ultimately, this is my feeling on optane/sshdd's:

Asian males are NOT more at risk. They might be, the virus ______ (using? something) that is present in higher numbers in the lung (lining/surface? maybe a surfactant?) of Asian males. (ARS2 rings a bell) So the researchers that discovered this said there might be an increased susceptibility. If so, it should only be for exposures where droplets made it to the lungs. I posted about this earlier in the thread - might be more of a clue in that.
I'll try to find the source later.
