Generally speaking, whenever a new generation of product launches, prices on current-gen go down as retailers clear their inventory to make way for next-gen.

pcie versions are all intercompatible. 3.0 graphics cards are good on 2.0 etc, so 4.0 works on 3.0
 

The max cpu supported by that mobo would be an Intel Core 2 Extreme

your best bet is just to save your money for a new pc. It’s easy to buy a prebuilt hp or dell tower and turn it into a gaming pc for cheap, plus it would be better than what you have.

I would be cautious around a marketplace seller. Even buying from Amazon Warehouse Deals is not so reliable these days.

The same company, 6060-Shop has it listed 3 times, twice for $344 and once for $600. My money is on definite fake.

It doesn’t really matter in an office pc, but if you have the $30 go ahead.

For your use case, the only thing really making it fast is the SSD.

I really liked the one guy saying "The combination of the solid state drive and the SSD is a real game changer" (or something to that effect).

Currently Intel is giving me the "meh" feeling.
 
Even tho I got an i9 9900k, I will be upgrading to a Ryzen 3000.

Or we could consider AMD which offers more cores at all the price points, with pretty much the same performance. Why on earth would anyone pick a 7700k? 4 cores 8 thread flagships are yesterday's processors. 6 core is now the minimum for smooth gaming. Just look at games like Battlefield V. 4 cores 8 threads can struggle on that game with horrible stuttery lows.
 
And the 9900k costs an arm and a leg, and makes no sense considering AMD is about to offer a processor with pretty much the same performance at over $100 less.
 
Wait for Ryzen 3000, and get the ryzen 5 3600. That will give you the single-threaded performance you are after for 144hz.

Ah ok. Rumors say they may be expensive, but it will probably be worth it especially if you’re going with a 3800x. 

You don’t need a big rig to play LoL at good settings.
