  1. Host and guest could share the card assuming you're using virtualbox or VMware workstation. Obviously that'd mess up your performance over something bare metal like ESXi, that is all assuming of course that the card could indeed be passed through.
  2. Has anyone tried passing through one of these cards to a VM using ESXi or other hypervisor?
  3. I've got a few servers now, and I'm finally ready to get into the 10 Gb game. I was browsing ebay and the NC550SFP seemed like a good bet for directly connecting two of my servers with SFP. Has anyone had any bad experience with these cards, or anything I should know before I buy?
  4. DDR2 can infact support up to 256GB, my idea is to use a Poweredge R900, and in this PDF we clearly see it can run 256:https://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/pedge/en/pe_R900_spec_sheet.pdf
  5. So I'm getting into like server hardware and stuff, and I just bought a server with dual X5670's and 32GB of DDR3. Anyway, that's nice and all, but after a nice long Ebay session I found out that I could buy a rig with 256GB of DDR2, quad X7460 6 core processors, and 7 9800gt's for sub $700! My "brilliant" idea is to setup a virtualization setup capable of 7 people playing Minecraft at once, for less than $1000. I mean obviously this is a terrible idea, but like would it even be able to run 7 instances of Minecraft?
