Looks great and ya I agree, next time you empty the loop maybe cut that front tube, 1/4 inch shorter just to take some extra outta there. Other wise its great

The static pressure vs airflow has mainly effect on the push side of fan. So as intakes placed inside the case, it doesn't matter. Static pressure fans will have more focuced flow, airflow will spread air on wider area.

No, the EK FLT has a custom piece that combines the mounting types of the D5 and DDC.
You cannot exchange standard pump tops between a D5 and DDC.

    Cheers for the info.

Tried swapping yesterday but for some reason the front plate DDC pump just didn't want to fire up when installed in the side plate even though it fitted perfectly.

Just dismantling the original pump from the plate, a quick clean and refitting seems to have sorted for now.

The Arctic fans are about 85-90% as good as the Noctuas, and significantly cheaper. You can get a 5 pack for about $40USD. If you're looking for a comparable CPU cooler, the Scythe Fuma 2 is a touch over 1/2 the price of the Noctuas, and again, about 90% of the performance.

If the front plate version still runs a DDC pump, then yes. The side distro plate definitely has a DDC.

Let's also wait and see what real world performance is. They didn't exactly say WHAT the 3070 was faster than the 2080ti IN exactly. Could just be faster in ray tracing, or something stupid like that that that will make little to no difference in 90% of applications.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but I was able to use a NZXT Kraken G12 on my MSI 5700 XT EVOKE OC that was supposedly 'not compatible'. No mods, no nothing. I just used some M3 screws through the stock mounting holes and it mounted right up. I'm only using a 120mm EVGA AIO cheapy, but I went from 105C+ junction temps to a max of 78C, and the average package temp is right around 60C now. I also am using a 140mm corsair ML fan at like 600rpm to keep it virtually silent.

Essentially, I think any 'universal' block may work just fine, it just won't cover the VRM and RAM. With the Kraken, however, the silent 92mm fan that comes with it has kept VRM under 60C during gaming and the RAM hits about 80-85C. I've also left the stock backplate with thermal pads on it, so that's likely passively helping a little bit.

I picked the case based on a combo of aesthetics, features I wanted, and also largely influenced by the reviews I read/watched - the strong review by GN being one.

Thanks very much @icase81 That kind of perspective really helps me out a lot. I'm totally fine with being a few years behind if I can still mean run the games I play at a far better level than I do right now, while still getting value for money on "new" parts until then.

I placed my order on Sunday and most of it is arriving tomorrow I ended up ordering the Ryzen 5 3600 from Amazon as it was the best price around, and I ordered the MB, GPU, case and memory from CCL - I've used them before so trust them and it was all in stock ready to ship asap. The prices were actually better than Amazon at the time of purchasing too - I realise that PartPicker flags the cheapest retailer based on a total price (incl. shipping), but what it doesn't take into account is the single shipping cost when you order more than 1 part from the same retailer... so actually I got a better deal overall.

So, hopefully by the EOP tomorrow my new build will look like this:
    New Parts
    CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 3600 MB - Gigabyte B450 AORUS ELITE AMD Case - Phanteks Eclipse P400A D-RGB GPU - Gigabyte Radeon RX 5700 XT GAMING 8GB Memory - HyperX FURY RGB 16GB (2x 8GB) 3200MHz DDR4 Existing Parts
WiFi - TP-Link Archer T6E 1300Mbps PCI Express WiFi PSU - XFX XTR Series 650W 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular Storage 1 - 120GB Samsung SSD 840 Series Storage 2 - 250GB Samsung SSD 840 Series Storage 3 - 1TB Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 SATA 3.5" Display - AOC 27 inch 144 Hz LED Gaming Monitor, 1 ms G2770PF In terms of future updates, I'll probably look toward storage first - I'd like a bigger SSD/M.2 given that I'm maxed already.

For personal reference later, here are some visuals of the best balance between quality and performance I've been able to get for Hell Let Loose. Once I'm up and running and I've got it reinstalled, I'll post an update

This looks really good to me. You'll definitely have a very good computer for a few years in terms of games. Honestly, with this setup, I'd skip 4000 and wait for 5000 or even 6000 chips. Having a 6 core 4ghz chip from 3 gens ago is still far more than adequate for gaming. Think in terms of Intel, thats Skylake or Kaby Lake. Even a Broadwell CPU is still fine. Good luck and congrats on the upgrade! Let us know how it works out!

It’s usually SATA 5 and 6 that get disabled when using m.2. It’ll tell you in the bios when it detects an m.2 drive, though.

Zen 3 support will exist on B450 according to some motherboard manufacturers. Essentially AMD says it’s on “official” and required on B550, but the mobo makers will update boards to support it also. Zen 2 isn’t “supported” on B350 or A320, but there are boards that it works fine on, essentially, buy a recent name brand B450 and chances are high that Zen 3 will work fine. And if for some reason it doesn’t? By the time Zen 3 is out, B550 boards will be plentiful new and used and refurbished and for £50-60 you’ll be able to pick one up with the new CPU. Or better plan is keep your Zen 2/B450, skip Zen 3 and wait for Zen 4 that’ll be a new socket and likely DDR5 support instead.

I just built 2 weeks ago a Ryzen 9 3900X and B450 board. It’s killer and nothing coming out software wise in the next 2 to 3 years is going to need more CPU than that. Heck a 5 year old Intel CPU is still fine for high end games.

I’ve been building PCs since the mid 90s. If you constantly wait for what’s coming out “soon”, you never end up building cuz there’s always something cooler on the horizon. Basically PCIe 4.0 is the only upside and that only helps you with an NVMe drive currently, and higher end GPUs that likely won’t see much increase in actual performance. Is going from 3GB/s to 4GB/s in sequential reads worth waiting for? Not to me, but it maybe for you.

I’ll toss my hat in for a regular rx5700 if you can find a good deal. I got mine for $289us for an MSI oc evoke. I immediately flashed the corresponding XT bios and can oc the core to 2150mhz. You’re still missing some of the compute units but it’s within 5-8% of a real XT. For <£235
