  1. Yeah, ill give it a try. Thanks for tip. 590 has a DVI-D port and my monitor is VGA only so i'm using a cheap VGA to DVI converter to connect em.
  2. I have recently built my first PC but its plagued by constant crashes / black screen freezes which i assume are caused by my GPU. These crashes usually happen while PC is under ( light ) load but i have experienced them couple of times even while my PC was idle or during its shutdown process. When the crash happens connection between my Monitor and PC would break down. Monitor would remain on and would enter a power saving mode while PC would freeze and stop responding to any keyboard input so that i have to restart it via power button. Restarting / plugging the monitor out and back into the GPU or Motherboard during the crash does nothing. Speakers would usually emit a static/buzzing sound and PC fans would usually speed up after the crash. There are never any error messages during or after the crash, except maybe: "Default Radeon Wattman settings have been restored due to unexpected system failure" message which pops up when i start the PC post crash. I can ( unfortunately ) replicate the issue / cause the crash to happen if needed. I don't play very demanding games and temperatures for all components generally don't pass 50-60c so i don't think that is the problem. I never tried overclocking or undervolting my GPU or changing settings in the MSI afterburner / Wattman or something like that. I am running latest version of windows 10 pro 64 bit, my only storage device is an 256 GB SSD. My driver is 19.4.2 My current configuration is: Intel Core i3 8100 CPU 16 GB of RAM ( 2400 mhz ) ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. PRIME B360M-A Motherboard RX 590 Series Sapphire NITRO+ GPU 700w Bequiet! System Power 9 PSU ( Bronze ) List of things i have already tried: -Bought a new PSU ( upgraded from 520w Seasonic bronze to 700w System Power 9 from Bequiet! ). This made crashes somewhat less common but still common enough to render most of my games unplayable. -Tried sending the GPU back to the retailer, they tested it and said its working properly. -Tried different plugs and PSU power cables -Tried running the PC without GPU. Couldn't replicate the crashes. -Tried running the PC with my old GTX 260 GPU. Couldn't replicate the crashes. -Countless clean GPU driver reinstalls in the safe mode with DDU. -Tried using older AMD drivers, ( 19.2.2, 19.1.2, 19.1.1 ). -Found nothing in Event Viewer that could have caused crashing. -Virus and malware scans, just in case -Tried fixing Windows files, just in case. If this helps during my research online i ran into multiple posts from people who had a similar problem with similar or same GPUs but nothing conclusive. Possible causes for this seem to be: -My somewhat old LG FLATRON w2246 VGA monitor which is connected to my GPU through VGA to DVI converter. I don't know how is it possible for old monitor to cause PC freezes but at least one dude online with similar monitor setup fixed his issue by getting a new monitor. -GPU crashing when exiting / entering its low power state. There is a possibility that the voltages at these states are not 100% stable from the factory (they are set too low). I just wanted to hear an opinion from someone who might know a thing or two more than me before dropping another 200 eur on a new monitor or screwing something up with clocking and voltages in MSI afterburner / Wattman. Thank you for reading my wall of text!
  3. Thanks a lot for the info and help. I was really only looking towards learning more about PSUs and did not expected to fix my problem here but since you are asking for more details: I'm calling my PC problems system failures because i'm about 85% sure that that's what they are. They almost always happen when PC is under load, sometimes when even under very light load and couple of times when idle, during shutdown process. When it happens connection between monitor and PC would break down and display becomes black ( but monitor stays on and cables are not loose ), and the PC keeps running with fans speeding up but it stops responding to any keyboard input and has to be shut down via power button. There are never any error messages during or after crash, only: "Default Radeon Wattman settings have been restored due to unexpected system failure" which pops up after i start the PC post crash. Sometimes speakers start playing digital noise/static during the crash. I am running latest version of windows 10 pro 64 bit, my only storage device is an 256 GB SSD. I have tried updating AMD drivers to the newest 19.2.2 version, then optional 19.1.2 and i tried downgrading them to the recommended 19.1.1 ( i did a clean reinstall in safe mode every time ) but the system failures didn't stop. My crashes / system failures / whatever they are don't happen in all games. Some ( like Hearts of Iron 4 ) could be played for hours without any problems and in others i know crashes would happen for certain, sometimes just couple of minutes after starting the game. I can replicate the crash when needed. All my PC components are brand new and while playing i was keeping track of the PC temperatures and they are always around 55C for most components except for CPU which where it can reach up to 70 depending on the game i'm playing. Those temperatures are good as far as i know and after all i'm not playing very demanding games. List of things i already tried to fix my problem: - Switching plugs and power cables. - Buying a new PSU. - Countless clean GPU driver re-installs - I tried fixing Windows files but there seems to be nothing broken or missing and my PC is virus and malware free. - In Event Viewer I couldn't find anything that could have caused crashing. - Run a PC without GPU. I couldn't replicate the crash / system failure in this configuration. I very much appreciate your help.
  4. Hello, Despite really not being PC savvy person I have recently built my first PC but common system failures and some troubleshooting made me think my 520w Seasonic bronze PSU was too weak for my PC, specifically GPU, so i got a new one, 700w System Power 9 from Bequiet!. However the new PSU has two 12V rails, of which 12V1 is connected to my GPU via PCI-e cable and has an output of 33A and there is also 12V2 with an output of 25A while my previous Seasonic 520w had only one 12V rail with an output of 40A. As far as i got it i can only use one 12V PCI-e cable at the time to power my GPU, so would that mean that i'm getting even less power for my GPU now that i use 33A 12V PCI-e cable instead of 40A one? My system failure problem seems to be less common now ( which would be in my opinion odd if i was getting less power with the new PSU and not more ) but is still not fixed rendering some of my games unplayable. As you can see i am very much in the dark when it comes to these things so any kind of help would be appreciated. The image is of my 700w PSU box. 5. Hello everyone, English is not my first language so im sorry about the grammar minefield you are reading right now. I have just built my first PC but its plagued by this weird crash where connection between monitor and PC breaks down and display becomes black ( but monitor stays on ), and the PC keeps running ( fans seem to speed up if anything ) but not responding to any keyboard input and has to be restarted via power button. There are no error messages when the crash happens except something about WattMan being restored due to unexpected system failure and sometimes speakers start playing digital noise/static after the crash happens. Im running a windows 10 pro 64 bit OS installed on 256 GB SSD and thats the only storage device i currently have. I have tried updating AMD drivers to optional, newest 19.1.2 version and downgrading them to the recommended 19.1.1 ( did clean reinstall in safe mode ) but it didnt fixed my problem. I tried fixing windows files but there seems to be nothing broken/missing. I was keeping track of the PC temperatures and im pretty sure those are not causing the problem. Now im out of ideas. My configuration is: Intel Core i3 8100 CPU 16 GB of RAM ( 2400 mhz ) ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. PRIME B360M-A Motherboard RX 590 Series Sapphire NITRO+ GPU Seasonic 520W PSU ( which should be enough to power my PC according to those PSU calculators on the internet ) Im not very computer savvy person so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
