Maybe they started doing that as an option. I bought Windows 10 that came on a DVD as recently as last year. Either way, you can buy a physical copy of the OS if you don't want to make your own.

v-sync is for eliminating screen tearing at the cost of some input latency (not that noticable most times) while freesync tries to match the monitor's refresh rate to reduce screen tearing too. main difference is that v-sync is a software solution meaning most games will have an option like this while freesync is a hardware solution meaning you'd need to get a freesync monitor to actually use it.

Edit: not entirely sure if i worded these right but you can ask or google around if you want to know more

Uncapped a FPS will typically give you a better experience.  In my case though, my GPU does not have adequate cooling, and will thermal throttle when run at 100% for a long time, resulting in it not working to its full potential when a frame comes around that needs it, which leads to frame drops.  Because of this, I typically cap my fps to run it at a lower demand.

    Yes and no

There is the common standard "Cherry MX Stem" which is found on all the cherry mx switches and most of the Chinese cherry clone switches (which I find to be nicer and smoother for a switch)
You have romer G from, ALPS, Cherry/Kailh ML, and finally Topre
These are all the more common and "mainstream" mechanical switches on the market.

Now you run into sizing for the bottom row and weather its an ISO or an ANSI layout as well.

Depends on the keyboard. Most mechanical keyboards that use the standard Cherry MX stem or BOX stem* can take most aftermarket keycap set. Some notable outliers are are Corsair and Razer keyboards. Source: http://www.maxkeyboard.com/mechanical-keycap-layout-and-size-chart.html

*Old stock BOX stems break keycaps due to tolerance issues.
Typically, USB-C keyboards connect the USB-C end to the keyboard and the USB-A end to your computer.

Not necessarily, no. There's no standard size and shape for keycaps, so the distance between switches varies brand to brand. It wouldn't be hard to order keys that simply don't fit.
