  1. Yea, it was actually rather clever at the time. It placed a thin auxiliary heatsink (with heat pipes coming from the CPU) over the RAM. And the fan over it would blow air down over the RAM to cool it as well. The air is exhaust from the CPU heatsink so it'd be a little warm. But I'm sure the convective currents made from the heatsink fan helped more than just passive air cooling.
