  1. Hi guys, Looking at making a few upgrades to my PC. I currently have an i5 6500 - gaming at 1080p with a GTX 1070, is it worth considering upgrading this CPU now or will it still be relevant for AAA titles over the next couple of years? Upgrade path would probably be Ryzen 5 2nd gen or maybe an 8400 at a push
  2. I was thinking the jump to Ryzen would be a good idea since Intel's new offerings are stupid (and expensive), however when doing the research on it I found the 7 1700 which is cheaper than the 5 2600, as well as the 5 1600x being dirt cheap at £120
  3. Hi all! Not new to the forum or LTT (followed for years, however forgot my account details in their entirety lmao) So I recently saved some money and am looking at upgrading my PC here and there. Most if it is still ~relatively~ new, but I've ran into what my friends have described as some hard drive speed issues as well as a couple other issues (my PC used to sometimes just crash with all fans ramping up but I seem to have fixed it) and one of my RAM slots doesn't work (fun, don't buy b-grade from overclockers) Here's my current specs: CPU: Intel i5 6500 Cooler: Corsair H100i GTX Motherboard: MSI Z170 Krait Gaming X3 RAM: Kingston HyperX 8GB (2x4, 2133mhz) Storage: WD Blue 1TB GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1070 FE PSU: Gigabyte GH750W 80+ Gold (?, can't remember full model number) Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX So I basically use my PC for the following: 1080[ gaming (R6: Siege, Dota 2, AC Odyssey and a few other new titles coming soon), intensive uni work (mainly data analysis, report writing etc). While I've saved a bit, I thought it would maybe be a good idea to make any upgrades while I have the money and while I'm a student before entering that full on world of work. I've already got high quality peripherals too so that's honestly out of the question for me. Does anyone have any suggestions on upgrade paths?
