So I have a Supermicro X11SCA-F with a Intel Xeon E-2186G Coffee Lake 3.80 GHz and 4x16 Samsung M393A2K40CB2-CTD 16GB DDR4-2666 ECC REG DIMM
So I put it all together and i keep getting 5 short 1 long beeps (after looking in the manual it says "memory not detected") So I checked what the motherboard accepted which was the following
Memory Capacity
Up to 64GB Unbuffered ECC/non-ECC UDIMM, DDR4-2666MHz, in 4 DIMM slots
Memory Type
2666/2400/2133/1866/1600MHz ECC/Non-ECC DDR4 SDRAM 72-bit 288-pin UDIMM
DIMM Sizes
1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB
Memory Voltage
1.2V
And the Samsung Memory I have is as follows
TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
STORAGE CAPACITY: 16GB
MEMORY TECHNOLOGY: DDR4 SDRAM
NUMBER OF MODULES: 1 X 16GB
MEMORY SPEED: 2666MHZ DDR4-2666/PC4-21300
DATA INTEGRITY CHECK: ECC
FEATURES: SINGLE RANK, REGISTERED
CAS LATENCY TIMINGS: CL19
NOW to my knowledge this may be just as simple as the motherboard requiring a Bios update and if so is it possible to do so on this board without any memory installed? OR have i buggered something up with the memory specs, I know the memory is not on the bios supported memory list but only 2 kits are.
