Same thing at my school not only my school all schools that follow the education console without saying names bought a lot of hp all in one desktop similar to this one for  $ 1,361.12
then bunch of Cisco routers but them all around the school with a Internet connection that take a minute to load google and nearly all sites are blocked even LTT and a lot of other stuff that overkill very overkill and did I mention that they had dell computer that were this type Desktop & All-in-One Deals and monitors I believe that it had an i3 but one edit at a very high position thought okay we all these very good computers let's replace them with very expensive computer for no reason

Really?  Really?  Apple is not crushing you with the iron boot of oppression even if this was meant solely to protect the company's hardware ecosystem (and it isn't).  At worst, T2 is a hassle for people who might want to do a few specific things, like replacing the built-in storage.

It only makes sense, that until now that most of developers are ,,white straight males'' because well after all they fucking  wrote the first programming language and a shit ton of programming languages.  What did you expect ?? Also why the fuck does the sexual orientation matter ??? Like I don't get it, why does it matter to you if I fuck a guy or a girl or even a fucking fleshlight ?

Not sure what your point is. This conversation started because you said that there needs to be an explicit clause in the CoC that forbids discrimination towards someone's sexual orientation. I said that was not necessary because such attacks will already be covered in the more broad rules outlined in the Ruby CoC.

You said that someone's opinion affects your life negatively. I said it can't unless those people act upon those opinions, and that it is the act itself which causes you harm, not someone's thoughts if they are kept to themselves. Your response to this was "people get stabbed even when we have laws against it", which doesn't really have anything to do with the conversation.
What is your point exactly? Right now you're kind of arguing that rules doesn't matter because bad things happens anyway, which strictly goes against your previous posts that the Ruby CoC needed special rules to address homophobia.
No laws or rules prevent crimes. They just define what is and isn't allowed.

    1) Ruby has a 20+ year long history of being a very nice and friendly community. I don't see that changing.
    2) The CoC clearly states that personal attacks, disparaging personal remarks and harassment are explicitly not permitted. If you want to explicitly mention every single thing which may fall into those categories then you'll have yourself a 20,000 pages long document.
    3) I don't think homophobia is going to be an issue in Ruby's community, because Ruby is a coding language and unless you name some variable "iLoveCocksBecauseIamAHomosexual" then your sexuality most likely won't get brought up to begin with. Like I said before, you really have to make an effort to bring up your sexuality when you're working in these projects where you don't even meet the people face to face.

    Yes, that is correct.
In this case, yes, the suffix "phobia" no longer means what it used to.
It still has its original meaning in words like arachnophobia though.

A society where only certain views and opinions are allowed is not a tolerant society.
The text-book definition of tolerant is:
You are, according to the definition of the word, intolerant, and don't expect fighting intolerance with intolerance to work. All it does is lower yourself to their level.

If you get stabbed for holding your boyfriend's hand then that is because of a person's actions, not their thoughts and opinions, and we already have laws which state that you are not allowed to stab someone. We don't need a specific "you can't stab gay people" law because "you can't stab people" already covers that.
And while someone being passive homophobe doesn't necessarily help you, it can't harm you either as long as they do not act upon those opinions.

Where did you get the (very incorrect) idea that I am saying sexual discrimination doesn't happen because it's a crime or against the CoC? I honestly do not understand how you or anyone could get that from my post. I never said anything of the sort.
What I said was that I do not see why sexual orientation needs to be explicitly mentioned when it is already covered under the more general rules (just like we don't need a law which specifically says you can't murder gay people, because the law against murder already covers that).

No, that is not what homophobia is.
Homophobia is "dislike of or prejudice against homosexual people". That's it.

You don't have to agree with someone to be tolerant of them. I mean let's say you work in this group and in someone's personal life they had said views. It really shouldn't matter. They aren't going and personally harassing you. Also that's a bit of an extreme situation as well. I personally know someone who is quite homophobic but honestly I don't hold it against them. They were molested as a child by an adult male and have hated gay men ever since. Do I agree with them on their views? No but I also am tolerant and I just don't engage talking with them about said topics. The same can be done with said person. You can't have the freedom to have what ever options or views you want if others aren't as well. That's how this works. You can't have double standards just because you don't agree with them.

Let me ask you this then, and I want your opinions not "well Linus thought it was necessary so..." type of answers. Just your honest opinion.
    1) Do you personally believe that adopting this new CoC was necessary or was the old one enough?
    2) If your answer to the previous question was yes, this new one was needed, what exactly do you think will change now that the new one is in place?
    3) Do you believe that this new CoC is a good one, or do you believe that a CoC like the one Ruby has adopted is better? If so, why or why not?

First of all, believing that homosexual is wrong is in fact an opinion. It's an opinion that you don't agree with, but it is an opinion nonetheless.
Secondly, as long as people do not act upon those beliefs I don't see how it can or should affect your life. I know for a fact that several vegans and vegetarians I know hate that I eat meat. They actually hate that about me and would love for me to change that about me. But I don't let that effect my relationship with them. You won't ever find someone I agree with 100% on every single subject.

And before you say "hating on someone who eats meat and hating on someone for their sexual preferences are two different things". To me it isn't, as long as no actions are made because of those beliefs.
Remember, we're talking about Linux development here. 99% of people working on this won't even meet each other. They just see code suggestions flying back and forth. You really have to be very deliberate for your sexuality to even get brought up.

Thirdly, why does sexual discrimination have to be explicitly mentioned? Sexual discrimination is not only a criminal offense already, but if someone was to act or personally attack someone then it would also go against the other parts of the Ruby CoC. More specifically these parts:

And lastly, the personal beliefs of someone should not matter at all when judging their code.
Did you know that ReiserFS, a file system natively supported by the Linux kernel, was developed by a man who was convicted for murdering his wife? I won't feel bad for using it despite it being coded by a murderer. I think his code should be evaluated on the merits of the code, not his other actions.

By the way, tolerance goes both way. Don't expect to be tolerated if you yourself is intolerant towards others.

Even in things like work-related emails?
If you are then I suggest you tone it down, because it is not appropriate.

Anyway, I think we have strayed away from the original conversation. I don't see why you would need a specific clause for discrimination against homosexuals in the CoC when such behavior is already not accepted in other parts of the CoC.
Like I said, we don't have laws which says "you can't stab straight people" and one that says "you can't stab homosexual people". We just have one which says "you can't stab people". That's equality.

Why should it apply to a specific product? I mean this is communication between businesses, it's not cooler room talk. If there communicating to you something marked confidential it's probably specifically regarding a product or program, and the NDA will expire with regard to that specific piece of information as soon as the product or program launches >.>

And Heise is full of bullshit with regards to it going against journalistic principles. You can read up on them here: http://americanpressassociation.com/principles-of-journalism/

There's nothing at all in this NDA that prevents you from independently and ethically reporting on a topic. The wording is legal wording, not colloquial wording so of course if you feed it through a translator it's going to come out pretty screwy >.> They probably should have had a lawyer look over it instead of posting an attack article.
