You read that right, I personally think that the hype doesn't make sense beyond simply the underlying technology being functional and achievable now. The reason why I think this is that when you think about it, self driving cars are like a band aid to a serious problem of private automobile transportation. Car culture sucks, and I say this as a former car guy, don't get me wrong cars are cool, and enthusiast car guys don't really make up much of the problem, and why this is an issue? They are horrifically inefficient, think about it, a bus is as long as about 3 sedans/2.25 SUVs but those might be able to seat a maximum of about 15 people people respectively, a bus can take at least 25 people and usually way more than that, you see the issue here? self driving cars would still be liable to the same efficiency constraints as non self driving cars, a properly thought out network of public transportation would always have more capacity and more efficiently service an even moderately dense urban area (yes I know rural areas are different and cars may be required in those situations), and I know that some people will say that self driving cars would enable higher capacity by banning non autonomous vehicles, big data, AI, 5G, etc... and let's say for the sake of this argument, any theoretical technology can be achieved practially and would make meaningful improvements, sure, but why does this only apply to inefficient private car transportation? why not to the already efficient buses, trains, trams, etc.. you could apply the same technology to public transportation and make it even more efficient as it starts from a position of already being more efficient, I struggle to see how anything being proposed couldn't be applied to public, hell, it could be easier, recently in my city Amman they opened up a bus rapid transit (BRT) system that is basically a bus with it's own road that is seperate from private cars and I've gone on it and it honestly cuts travel time between different of parts of Amman in half, Governments could easily and quickly implement new technologies and policies without having to answer to automobile owners. It just seems a bit weird that people are so hyped over what is basically a highly advanced, rubber tired (don't forget that metal wheels on metal are more efficient), horseless carriage and we should maybe look beyond simply advancing a 140 year old technology that was invented when steam was still the main way of producing power.

I agree with this. In addition, supply chains are breaking down globally with factories being interrupted from power outages in China. Europe has its own problems too.

It's your call, but there's a reason I replaced my cell phone and built a new computer this year. Future supplies, new technology, inflation...for me it was all a risk assessment in mitigation.

I must admit, this is a very difficult decision to be making now: build now while parts are cheaper and available knowing DD4 is at the end of the road, or wait for 1st gen DDR5 system with a questionable future in reliability, availability, and pricing. 🤔

Yes but what exactly from Russia and China. It's just a hollow stand off if the only "threat" is someone else's existence. 

Why does the US need this? What threat is showing such prominent and impending danger that they need to shell out billions on things like this?

Pretty much everyone here just wants to help each other out and talk tech. It's not everywhere I can go up to someone and discuss the subtle differences between the 3080 and 6800XT, yet that's stuff I personally love. Grnted, the more I talk tech, the more I end up wanting the new, latest and greatest thing, so my wallet hates this community, but it's fun.

I'd say Amazon's monopoly and lobbying does that way better than I could ever dream of doing

I mean, genuine congrats on being so successful in your business but the point still stands, you're not Amazon.
 
Governments are MUCH more willing to bend the rules and turn a blind eye when the business has as much money to throw around as Amazon do.
 
I imagine a sensible estimate for you're entire business as an ongoing venture would be in the tens of millions of dollars tops, that's not even pocket change for Amazon. I'm sure that when you say you're drivers doing their jobs badly effects you you're 100% not lying, the unfortunate reality of capitalism is that is not true for everyone.

can't really comment on human nutrition regarding soy, but as for Asia's consumption for example, China's buys a lot of it's soy from developing countries, such as Brazil, in order to not deplete their own soil and still have soy

Okay so I had this old lego set sitting on my shelf which I sold on gumtree au for 150 aud. MWith that money, I have two options planned. One, I do a peeripherall upgrade by buying razer viper min, razer blackshark and a new mousemat. Two, I blow all my money on juicy skkins in Valorant. both will give a placebo effect that I'm playing better. I am more inclined to buying skins as my audio, mousemat and mouse is decent. and with skins, I cann flex on my team. Anyway, what would you guys choose? Any options you guys have you can suggest.
