averagebilly reacted to Yebi in PBO for cpu?
Unless you're gonna go really deep into the weeds, PBO will do a better job of overclocking than you would manually. Just max out the power limits (there are three IIRC) and the scalar, and let it do its job

averagebilly reacted to SavageNeo in Can this pre-built pc fit a triple fan graphics card?
seems like it.

averagebilly reacted to CPT_BEEMO in So I built a PC but I get no display.
If the box of the motherboard does not say Ryzen 3000 Ready anywhere on it, I would suspect that it is an older release B450 and was not shipped with the bios to support Ryzen 3000 series processors.
If you have a CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT header for the cooler, please make sure the connecter from the cooler is plugged into the CPU_FAN header. This symptom was identical to my friends X570 build, did not get a POST due to the header being plugged into CPU_OPT header.

Here is a review with 41 game benchmarks, because you didn't really give us enough information to judge your 'question': https://www.techspot.com/review/1931-radeon-5700-xt-vs-geforce-2060-super/

System volume... is there, but hidden in Windows.
Its the stick formatted with a MBR partition map? Try wiping the stick completely with EaseUS partition master. Recreate its MBR and create a new Fat32.
Besides that: Doesn't MSI offer some bios updating app for Windows to do it directly form win?

Yes, it successfully updated the bios, thanks for helping.

averagebilly reacted to Money in Stealth Build w. Controversial Parts
Hey guys,
I put together my new build the other day and I took some pictures. Here's the story:
I started out with a VERY dusty build (Yeah I neglected it, temps were still super low though so whatever).
After cleaning out the case I was left with this, a bone stock Corsair 550D that I had purchased from an NCIX Warehouse sale many years ago.
Here's the new parts I'd be putting in
I know that the 9900KS and 2080 Super are both controversial since they're mediocre entries into their respective segments, but, objectively they are outstanding for 1440p 144hz gaming and that's basically all I do besides the other everyday computing stuff.
I had decided to reuse my NH-D14 from 2012 and updated the fans on it so that they were both 4-pin. Reattaching the clips to the new fans was super difficult and took a ton of force to work, but it ended up working out.
I'm certainly no cable management wizard, but here's what I managed to do with all the parts in. I ended up having to plug another PCI power cable in since just having the one split into an 8-pin and 6-pin was not supplying my card with enough power and was diminishing performance.
Here's how it look with the case all closed up and how my setup looks. Temps are pretty good. The CPU runs at about 70-80 degrees during gaming and the 2080S runs at about 65 degrees. I've never owned a computer that runs as silent as this one does at idle, it's astonishing.
Here's the full list of parts in this build.
Thanks for reading!

Using the drivers directly from AMD appears to have worked, thank you.

I ended up getting the Asus ROG because it went with my build the best even though it's insane power draw produces too much heat. Thanks again for the help.

It should be tied to your Microsoft account. Once it asks for the product key, skip that, and sign in after the installation. Your Windows licence will activate based on your account info.

You don't need to re-install Windows after upgrading graphics cards.
Have you checked in Nvidia Control Panel to see that everything is set as it should be?

averagebilly got a reaction from Mauricio G. B. in 980TI Bargain comes with dead fans/header
If you want to try saving a little bit of money, I know that sometimes manufacturers will ship out fans for free. I'm not sure if they would for a card that's two generation old, though.

averagebilly reacted to geo3 in Is this 3700x build the right choice?
I would really get better ram. It can make a pretty big difference. I would at the very least get 3200 CL14. But there are gains to be had by going even higher.

averagebilly reacted to RodrigoRS in Is this 3700x build the right choice?
There is no 3700... The eight-core AMD new CPUs are 3700x and 3800x.

Sony has some pretty advanced management software for security cameras, and obviously some really good cameras. They do have PoE ones.

averagebilly got a reaction from Jettt in Would I need to overclock my build?
As @RobFRaschke said, zen 2's precision boost basically maxes out the performance. You could try overclocking, but don't expect any better results.

averagebilly got a reaction from Flying Sausages in Weird Outcomes from OC
An overwatch update probably optimized the game for the newer generation of card.
Try using Unigine Heaven at max settings for a while. I used taht for my OC and haven't had any artifacting since.
-
averagebilly got a reaction from Flying Sausages in Weird Outcomes from OC
Overclocking should not damage your card, unless you increase the voltage too high, or let temps get out of control. As for the artifacting, it could depend on what program you are using to stress test.

Thanks MATE!!!! I will go to steam give it a try hehe,, Thank you for convincing me in a way! Also thx fasauzeome. I will come back with a report on what I think of it. Thanks to all!!!

It should. Again, it's free, so you don't have anything to lose.

averagebilly reacted to Fasauceome in Help with upgrading of the system.
You're not getting satisfactory performance? Your rig is pretty good. What games do you play, and what's your performance target? Chances are a simple graphics card upgrade can go a long way.
Also, your power supply
Not cheap as they come, but damn close, you could use a new one

averagebilly got a reaction from Dan_Shingo in Where should I start?
Always start with a budget. Then, find a monitor with a gpu that can drive it. These shoudl be 40-65% of the budget depending on how much you are spending. After that, find a cpu/ram/mobo/cpu cooler combination (you should have about 75-90% of the budget used the rest can go toward storage, case, case fans (if your case doesn't come with them), rgb (optional), and peripherals. Don't forget about games if you don't have them already, as well.
