Bah, I have heard of situations where switches dont bridge correctly with routers so router doesn't assign mac and ip on more then one device.  It confuses me because I seriously doubt after doing all the other cables it is something you did.  I mean everything else works clearly you know what you are doing there.  Also find it difficult to think that wire is broken part cable wheel (just doesnt usually happen)  But all signs point to it.  Just a random setback haha.  Good luck and have a good one!!!!

cpu isn't going to limit this time Timmy.  He is overclocking.  He needs to stress test.  Shouldn't do that on those with a 500 watter

radeon is crossfire.....  The other 2 are stand alone cards.  As far as wiggle room if you believe that run a stress test in the background of your system while you use it for the next month.  When your stuff breaks from over usage then you will know.  I never said that a single graphics card was 500w.  I am saying 550 watts are to low for a power supply in this scenario. I personally would have done the 750 but 650 should be fine  Fan noise is less on a higher PSU because it can handle more before the fan has to kick in.  He is overclocking so he is going to test stability.  How are you guys not getting that he is going to run it under load.  Also I hear that hyper threaded 6 cores take alot of power when you put them to work.  You can't account for spikes in a low end psu.  If you are saying capacitors are a better option to replace a 200 dollar board then buy a 100 dollar power supply then I cant help you.  Just stop man.  I respect you dont back down but a couple quick search web pages aren't going to be out being old and bitter.  I recommended as well as multiple others what he needed and what was safe.  You jumped this thread.  Are you going to replace his parts if your wrong?    Strix 1080ti boost clock is 1.7 ghz  You asked if it could be more then 7950 MHZ then yes.  I knew this but I didn't thing you wouldn't look it up.  Over double.  1.5 base clock.  More ram to manage.  Higher Bus speed.  You gave me a 770gtx equivalent.  My biggest worry isn't weather you are right or wrong.  I really dont care.  It is when people who are asking cuz they dont know get info from people that like to talk.  You gave your opinion for what is good for you.  Not what he might do with it.  Definitely stability tests.  So just stop man.  You jumped a thread that was done and over with to pick a fight.

It is the common sense difference of jog 10 miles or full out run 10 miles.  Umm running cpu's 100% Load or 70 percent load.  I mean they are able to take 90 degrees but for how long.  If you can't understand that things break faster when you subject them to max stress circumstances then I sure can't help you.

So if you added a third 280x on that pile it would still not out perform a 1080ti.  Use your head.  Where is your logic.   Before retorting.  Go and read any major provider/reviewer page/ forum and it is actually recommended a 600w for a low end 1080ti.  These are statements from before the 8700k was released.  Now take some time out of your busy schedule to read about power consumption of an not oc'd 4.7ghz 6 core hyperthreaded  under load.  I am not talking playing hello kitty island adventure 95 tdw.  I am talking I am running a game on  a 4k setup maxed out listening to music while running my live stream having my chat out.  You can get away with 550w.  if you dont use it.  Might as well buy your sli 280x's and toss em on core 2 duo with a k9nu abit uguru board.  I mean rendering and encoding while gameing/chatting with multiple displays I am sure you can do it all on ultra with those.  It's the same thing right.  You buy for what it can do so you dont break it.  Not for what you think you can get away with.  Clearly I am tired and cranky.  Also, sick of people who dont read.  Also, Giving terrible advice just for the sake of being right/superior.  Oh yeah, Did you read the part about looking to oc a bit.  Of course.  650 is about his mark if he wants a few tweaks.

3w per stick.  pasted all over the internets.  multiple vids.  Also, they are rgb trident z so you should account for the lighting which will bring it back upto 4w.  DDR4 takes less power consumption then three.  Also, what world are you living in.  Motherboards do draw that kind of power.  Every capacitor or trace causes a resistance.  Power isn't just drawn but resisted.  Pci slots, bios, on board graphics acceleration, chipsets sound cards, bluetooth, wifi, power to all open ports Motherboard????  https://us.hardware.info/reviews/7605/17/intel-z370-motherboards-round-up-17-times-coffee-lake-power-consumption  That is one of hundres of other benchmarks.  I was being kind at 80.  Dont spout a bunch of garbage or call people out when you havent done any research or have on hand knowledge,  There is a good chance at 550w he would have been just fine.  There is an equally good chance that he wouldn't have.  Nothing you buy should ever be run at 100 percent.  That is how things break.  Less noise when your fan isn't on 24/7.I mean how long have you been building computers to be calling people\out on something they have been doing for 20 years  More reading and less I think.  So yes, 4w per stick 80 to 100 on normal game high end graphics load, 1080ti's are thirsty and Fat cores mean fat fuel needed.  Also has the highest clock of any standardized chip on the market.  I am ballparking at 520 or so and that is without counting fans, or cooler or hard drives,  or light strips, and to be honest i low balled some of those numbers.  It's all out there to read. And usually there would be some fluctuation.  But the guys that test these things aren testing from the wall and from the psu and from the other peripherals not the vrms.  So 10 percent is a little exaggerated as they are not likely doing this in there basements.  Sorry if i went off a bit but research before belittling someones reccomendation

Praxis727 got a reaction from AskTJ in Should I do an out of case build before building in a case?
For someone used to doing these kinds of things yes I agree full heartily.  I do not believe someone on their first build should be testing components outside of the confines of the case.  The install will be easier if the heatsink is done outside for a first time installer but hooking up the cables and applying power to the outside of the case will involve extensions and a little more experience and warming up to.   When you are new to the game you should do the step by step basics and if you run into an issue you should probably consult someone.  There is a video on youtube called How To Build A Gaming PC - FULL Beginners Guide by techsource.  It is what you are looking for step for step with explination.  No need to overclock anything though.  But it will show you how to pull up bios stuff and it is a common and comfortable method of getting it done.  Linus has 2 videos where he builds with his kids.   That being said.  If you do run into an issue I would be more then happy to help in any way  I can.

motherboard and neither.  There are a whole bunch of pages with people that got it to work.  The biggest thing you have to remember is do no install the software for the ram.  If you cannot get it to work with mystic Light, then download asus aura to control the ram lights.  They recommend not doing the standard .xmp for the ram as well as set the voltage to 1.35v.  Many people have had issues with doing msi and gskill.  I am starting to lean more on it is gskill more then MSI that is the issue.  Toms Hardware did in fact do the MSI 370 Krait Gaming with the Trident Z RGB build tho if you wanted to look it up.

It isn't the sli that is the issue.  Usually you would have a third pcie slot that would be on a seperate IRQ channel for pathing that you could put a second card on.  But because Pcie x16 1 and 2 share the same pathing then the only way to put anything in the second pcie slot and have it recognized are 2 crossfire AMD video cards because they are linked to each other and Share IRQ Channel A

Praxis727 got a reaction from Psittac in Gtx 960 isn't showing up
you can't.  Was meant for 2 way crossfire meaning AMD Cards for the two slots.  So you can have 2 amd cards linked together on Channel A or you can have one Nvidia card in either of the 2 slots using channel A as that board does not support 2 way SLI.

Praxis727 got a reaction from Psittac in Gtx 960 isn't showing up
The first and second pcie slots share IRQ Channel A.  Meaning there is not enough resources to read both cards because they are feeding through the same shared pathway.

reset cmos would be a good start likely.  Are you able to get bios post?  Use the f8 key to bring up advanced start items.  Try starting in safe mode to see if you can load windows at the bare minimum for drivers.

In most cases they judge by a dead pixel by quadrant.  There is 30 days after purchase where you can send a product back after purchase for such defects.  After then you have to check specific manufacture policy.  There will be a zero dead pixel policy for some companies but I don't believe LG has one in place for that product.  After that it comes down to how many dead pixels in what proximity per quadrant.  If it is unbearable you might have an argument to warranty but it isn't likely.
