  1. Yeah thought so, it seemed like the motherboard was just barely clinging to life but eventually now it's completely dead. I tried to find a motherboard that has a 1150 slot and supports ddr3 ram but I guess they don't make those types of boards now so I just bit the bullet and ordered a new PC. it's a shame since my hard drive sata port broke off as well in the process so all my data is inaccessible unless I take it to a data recovery place, but at least it's a brand new computer; the old one was on its way out anyway so I guess it was well over time for an upgrade, all be it a pretty inconvenient way to get me to upgrade. Thanks for the help though! I really appreciate it!
  2. Right so I got the replacement PSU and plugged everything in; last night I replaced the CMOS battery and it wouldn't turn on at all, after trying the replacement PSU it still wouldn't turn on, so I'm starting to think the motherboard is dead. I'm gonna try getting a new CMOS battery, see if that changes anything but if not then do you think it's worth getting a new motherboard?
  3. It's possible, I'll have to wait till tomorrow to fetch it at work unless I can get in today, thanks for the help so far! I'll post updates when I get my friends PSU
  4. It was already unplugged, all that's plugged in is the CPU and ram
  5. It's doing what it did before now, turning on automatically for 2 seconds then back off
  6. Ok I shorted it, but it didn't turn on. I plugged the front panel connectors back in and pressed the power button and it turned on for about 2 seconds, then turned back off
  7. Yeah had a feeling I shorted something, leaning more towards the motherboard being fried since it's not turning on what so ever
  8. Still nothing, the led light in the power button is lit up but it still doesn't turn on at all.
  9. So I got a 1060 yesterday, I turned off the computer and unplugged everything (including some cables from the PSU to the motherboard as they were in the way), took out the old graphics card and installed the 1060. After plugging the PSU cables back into the motherboard and graphics card, I plugged in the PSU to mains and flipped the switch, which weirdly turned the computer on without touching the power button, but after about 3 seconds the computer turned off and wouldn't turn on at all unless I unplugged the PSU and plugged it back in, which would do the same; turn on for 3 seconds automatically and turn off again). I tried unplugging absolutely everything from the mobo and plugged it back in just incase there was a loose cable, but this time the computer won't power on what so ever; the power button led is lit up but nothing happens when I press it. I'm completely clueless to what's going on, my friend is lending me one of his spare PSUs just incase that somehow broke but I'm not sure how that would of broke in the first place. My specs are: Asus z97-p motherboard Corsair Vs 550 PSU Intel i5 4590 8gb ram Gtx 1050ti/gtx 1060 6gb Any ideas to what's causing it would be massively appreciated, thanks!
