I was just looking over protonDB and I think I might give Linux another try. I've also swapped out my Nvidia hardware, and sometime next week I'm going from a i9-9900k to a 7800x.

But one thing you said that I wish you'd look at closer is "Since I dumped all the NVidia hardware". They have the largest market share of cards, so having errors with them does make Linux less appealing. You can talk all the shit you want about Nvidia (And you should, fuck them) but that doesn't change that if Linux is hard to use on Nvidia hardware... then what's a person to do? Switching to Linux becomes something that's only really realistic if you're looking to build new or upgrade so much that you're replacing all offending hardware. Is that a reasonable ask of someone who just wants to try it? A free software set?

But.. and hear me out here... what if I instead buy two expensive edition pillows to spruce up the couch that I got for a steal? And I probably should get a couple of screwdrivers for presents for people.

Yeah, I think I'll do that. Maybe gift a floatplane subscription or two. And some gift cards. Because fuck you.

You make a good point here , however , this too has a silver lining.
It was auctioned off for charity (where people tend to buy stuff they normally wouldn’t) , to me that makes a difference to outright selling it.

and again don’t get me wrong , this doesn’t make it ok

I wanted to do my own writeup, but legit this is everything I was going to say and more. I think the only thing I'd add is that Billet labs has a silver lining which is they converted their prototype into money. I wish I could do that with my failed prototypes.

I've actually never had Twitter, just been using it for less than a year because I follow a lot of Japanese creators and most of them seem to stay there. And yeah, for some reason, Elon also realised that I've been to tech and it starts feeding me more and more of the tech content recently.

It wasn't that bad outside of tech though, this community is just so toxic af

You never fire someone for unintentional mistakes, that's how you foster fraud, cover-ups, etc. What you do instead is fix the mistake and figure out how to prevent it from happening again.

That being said, I think someone should fire Colton out of a giant circus cannon.

I feel like if it did go ahead there would be a weird vibe to it. They won't want to comment further on the ongoing events yet every message will be about it. Maybe better if it was written? But there's not much point to it then.

I am fond of Reddit for a lot of things, but lately, I have a strong distaste for how people over there are acting and the holier-than-thou attitudes they are plastering all over.

It's not only turned into a gigantic example of mob mentality protected behind the anonymity of the Internet... but also the way commenters act as of they have never had any errors in judgment, never made an inappropriate or ill-timed joke, never been defensive and the standards to which they judge people are ridiculous.

Things happen, and people and companies are far from perfect. The responses from the company have been more than I believe the community is owed and surprised me to the degree they've taken it seriously considering the signal-to-noise ratio is probably so far out of proportion right now.

Acting as if you/we know the inner workings of a business because we've tagged along on their front-facing (on-camera personality/acting) YouTube videos and have some sense of entitlement because of that is stupid. We don't know the day-to-day ops there, the "leaks" have proven they seem to take things seriously when it pops up if nothing else.

This happens at every large organization. Period. It doesn't make it right, but when you employ hundreds it's going to happen. Especially considering the rapid expansion they have made of late with departments becoming more autonomous. They are responding. It will not be an overnight fix and it will not be remedied by whatever apology people feel they are owed.

The knee-jerk reactions, the assumptions, and even some of the Gamers Nexus reporting (though not all) have drawn conclusions based on out-of-context quotes, or small pieces of the bigger picture. Take Billet originally misleading the community to believe they were completely blindsided by LMG keeping the prototype and devastating their business, to exchanges proving they originally intended to let them keep it in the first place when full emails come out. There's more to every story, being quick to judgment solves nothing.

Chill out. If people are so bothered then go watch a different channel, go outside. Take as much of an issue with things that actually have an impact on your life. Obviously, they keep coming here because it's drama, and that's really the bottom line.

I usually try and resist my urge to comment or give my thoughts on drama such as this…
But I just couldn’t help it this time around,

TLDR : I think most of this drama is largely blown out of proportion and I don’t see why we should stop watching LTT of unsubbing from floatplane…
First let me get this out of the way , I have been ( and still continue to be ) a very long time fan of the channel. So yeah , I’ll try and look at this in an as unbiased a way as is possible given the circumstances.

from what I’ve been reading it pretty much boils down to 4 main topics of “controversy” atm.
    1.       The accuracy ( or perceived lack thereof )  of the data that is presented in the video’s, that is largely due to the immense pressure on the video production side of things.

sure , if you talk big ( Labs supposedly being better at testing than rivals ) than you had best make sure you can back up what you’re claiming. Here GN made a compelling case where they show us that the data is in fact sometimes faulty, no argument here.

Also employees claiming that they have too little time to make the deadlines for given projects doesn’t give us the best feeling where it comes to accuracy

But as a head of department for a Microsoft partner firm that will remain unnamed, I have to confess that generally in business it is pretty common practice that deadlines tend to be given more weight that being right the first time ( on our side and most if not all customers ) . Am I saying this is good ? Hell no ! Am I saying I understand where this might come from ? yup sure do.

Also given the video that was posted stating that all procedures will be re-evaluated and that production would stop to do this , I beg to ask : what more can we realistically expect?

    2.       The billet labs debacle.

Sure , this was unfortunate , Communication wasn’t great and mistakes were made.
Key take-away for me is : if Billet labs says they see the matter as resolved as far as they are concerned, then I think so should we as the community.

    3.       That criticism ( mostly by GN ) was handled in a let’s call it sub-optimal fashion.

Ok, this one might be a bit sticky , the response was quite emotionally charged and not thought over twice as we say in Belgium.

But I tend to be understanding. Try and look at it from Linus’ point of view , you’re under a considerable amount of stress as it is ( I don’t think the decision to appoint a new CEO was made out of luxury ) and just on the back of your biggest event. And then suddenly someone  with who you have a reasonably good working relationship calls your company out for inaccurate data and bad ethics.

Sure , I can see why your initial response might be a bit miffed , I totally can.
But Sure , in a professional setting the response was let’s again call it sub optimal and too emotionally charged, and in the grand scheme of things he should’ve known better.

    4.       The Madison twitter dump

I’ll be brief on this part… I’ve been a head of department for my firm for a good while now and I’ve seen many employees come and go.

We can’t go and look at the quality of a workspace culture by one point of data. And furthermore all of us weren’t there , so how can we prove the validity of the claims.

sure , she might’ve been under a lot of stress and a colleague might have made a remark that didn’t sit well with her. However I doubt it will have been that bad of a place to work seeing their growth in employees and Glassdoor rating.

This all being said, feel free to call me a fanboy or a shill , but I think most points of criticism are being addressed by the team of LMG and I see no further issue in supporting this channel.

    Peace out,

Acoreus got a reaction from Mark Kaine in High-end PC constantly stuttering in games idk what to do anymore 😩
    Ok, let me be clearer:
I had an issue with my games stuttering on an i9-9900k/3090 and it was really selective on what games it would stutter on. After a shit ton of troubleshooting I found it was related to my mouse polling rate. 1000hz polling rate/windows 10/Z370 era boards have this issue.

So I asked what your mouse is.

My suggestion which takes almost no time is to lower the polling rate of your mouse to 500hz or even lower just to see if that makes a difference.

    Good luck.

While it is compatible and will work, I'd still step up the PSU to a 750/800W 80+ Gold. PSUs are most efficient at 50% load and slowly drop from there. at the 750/800W level you'd be sitting just around mid limit while gaming and such.
