  1. I still have the pin, will give that a try. Thanks
  2. So it needs all four D pins for data to work? I just want it to transfer data if possible, I don't care if its not at USB 3 speed. I was hoping I could somehow tell it to use D1 for the USB port I do have but, based on what you're saying, the 1 and 2 labels aren't actually referencing port 1 and port 2 the way I thought they were.
  3. Hi, I have snapped one of the front USB 3.0 header pins on my mobo (X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI mitx). Looking at the manual the pin was number 11 and was labeled as D2+ (see screenshot below). I am using an NZXT H1 case which only has one USB 3 front port and was wondering if its possible for it to still function? My understanding is I have broken a pin for one of a possible two front ports but given my case only has one I am hoping I can still get full functionality from it. Currently it provides power but no data.
  4. Hi, I have just built a new computer and am having an issue where anytime I restart the computer both SSD drives disappear from the system. I get taken straight into the BIOs screen and neither of the drives are available to boot from so I have to hard reset the system to get them to show up again. I have no idea what is going wrong here as the Windows drive was previously being used in my laptop and had no issues whatsoever. I would really appreciate any help as right now I am losing a lot of faith in my build. My build is as follows PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rQGjHB CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 3.8 GHz 6-Core Processor Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard Memory: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory Storage: Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (Windows Drive) Storage: ADATA XPG SX6000 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive Video Card: PowerColor Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB Red Dragon Video Card Case: Phanteks ENTHOO EVOLV SHIFT Mini ITX Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair SF 750 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular SFX Power Supply Case Fan: Noctua NF-P12 redux-1700 PWM 70.75 CFM 120 mm Fan Case Fan: Noctua NF-P12 redux-1700 PWM 70.75 CFM 120 mm Fan Monitor: Dell S2417DG 23.8" 2560x1440 165 Hz Monitor Monitor: Monoprice 138035 35.0" 3440x1440 120 Hz Monitor I am on BIOs F11 and am running Windows 10 Pro x64. I am also running the PCIe slot on gen3 as I have a riser for the graphics card and I think that was causing a lot of BSODs when running on gen4. I haven't had any graphics BSODs since switching to gen3 at least. Ryan
  5. So I boot from the usb with the 970 installed in the system? I will have an external HDD that will have another copy of the 970 in case anything goes wrong.
  6. Hi, I am about to build a new desktop and want to put the SSD that currently has my OS for my laptop into the new build. Its a M.2 970 EVO so I'll refer to is as 970 from now on. I am planning on cloning the 970 SSD onto a second drive in my laptop before I use the 970 in the new build. I know that my laptop will be fine and that the clone will let me keep things running as is on that but if I leave all the windows data and files on the 970 and install it in my new system will it boot into windows and give me a chance to enter a new product key so I dont have to do anything to have the exact same setup on the new system or will it recognize that the motherboard/system isn't the laptop it is linked to and not boot at all? I am planning on using Macrium Reflect Free Edition to do the cloning, is this a good software to use or is there something better out there that's free? Ryan
  7. Hi, I am looking to build a new mitx pc and have picked out the following build. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Ryan10/saved/DsGtpg I will be using it for gaming and watching movies/youtube as well as occasional excel work. I will be playing WoW, CoD, Civ, Forza 7, Witcher 3 and the like. Would like to keep the budget at around $1700 USD but if there are any minor changes that could be made I would appreciate the input. I am planning on changing case in the future to one of the small form factor cases like the Louqe Ghost or the new Mjolnir and will get a new CPU cooler when I do that to make sure it fits. I am planning on getting a windows key from ebay but I dont have a copy of windows on a usb to boot from. What is the easiest way to solve that issue? On the monitor front I will be using the Monoprice as my primary and y current monitor as a secondary to watch netflix etc. I have seen people say if I am in windowed borderless for games and have netflix playing on the second monitor it will cap the game at 24fps or whatever netflix runs at? Is there a way around this as I really like being able to drag my cursor from game to the second monitor. Ryan
  8. You think the 5700 will push 100 plus fps at 3440x1440? I haven't seen any benchmarks that support that. Also, what's your opinion on the VA panels vs the IPS ones. I definitely want a good cinematic gaming experience.
  9. Hi all, I am planning on building a new desktop and wanted to run the system by this forum before black Friday/cyber monday which is when I'm planning on buying everything. I am in the US and my budget is around $2200 without case or OS. I want to build in the Louqe Ghost S1 and that isnt in any of my price lists or included in the budget above. I will be using this computer primarily for gaming and then everyday stuff. I play most game types, anything from Froza, WoW, Warframe, Civ, The Division, Rainbow Six Siege. I want to move to an ultrawide monitor, preferably a 34in, I currently have a 24in 1440p G sync display that I might keep as a second monitor or could hold off on a new monitor if anyone knows of stuff coming out soon. I dont need any peripherals. Here are three different lists I came up with on PC Part Picker. Ignore the case selection, I just put it there as a placeholder. 3600X & 5700XT https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Ryan10/saved/#view=DsGtpg 3600X & 2070 Super https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Ryan10/saved/#view=KwQ4nQ 9600K & 2070 Super https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Ryan10/saved/#view=wtGtpg I'm posting this from my phone so if those links dont work please let me know and I'll fix them tonight. I'm a little conflicted on the graphics card and monitor situation as the LG monitor is 150 more than the Dell which let's me get a 2070 over the 5700XT but I'm hoping the monitor will outlast my GPU by a long shot so I dont know how I feel about locking myself into G sync. Would appreciate any feedback and suggestions here e.g. do I need a 3600X or will a 3600 be just as good etc. Ryan
  10. Hi all, I am thinking about getting an ultra wide gaming monitor such as the LG 34GK950F-B 34" 21:9 Ultragear WQHD. I play quite a few different games but mainly WoW, Warframe, Forza and other RPGs. Does anyone have experience playing these games on a monitor like this and is it too much/too big? I currently have a 24in 1440p monitor so would be a big jump. Next point, I dont have a desktop at this point in time, I am using a gigabyte aero 15 with a gtx1060 and an i7 8th gen I believe but it could be a 7th. I am thinking about getting a desktop and will probably get one in the next 6 months if not sooner. I'm not sure that the laptop would be able to handle the monitor at all so could make more sense to get the desktop first then the monitor, I dont really mind if my framerates are a little lower as itll probably be 2 or 3 months max between the monitor and desktop purchase. Any feedback would be really appreciated.
  11. So you agree that a 27 inch monitor at 1920x1080 is not a good move? Also do you think this is pretty much the same as the LG one, the reason I like this a little more i that the base seems a bit smaller and I have limited desk space so that would be nicer http://www.amazon.com/Series-PB238Q-23-Inch-LED-lit-Monitor/dp/B00906GBBC/ref=pd_sim_sbs_pc_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=003TTZ19G25QYHQPR4PV It does have a 6ms grey to grey but I cant imagine that 1ms would be noticeable. Thanks
  12. Hello I am looking at getting a monitor to run from my laptop (lenovo Y50 w gtx 860m) so I will only be able to use a monitor with a hdmi port. I will be using it for games, movies and university work. I have been looking at some 27 inch monitors but they are 1920x1080 and from what I have been reading people dont think its worth getting 27 inch monitors at anything below 1440p. I dont want to spend more than $300 on it. I am looking at a few at the moment as well as some 24 inch ones and one of them is a 144hz gaming monitor but with how I am planning to use it I am thinking its not going to be any benefit? If people could please give me their opinion on this and what they think about the 27 inch monitors or should I just stick with a 24 inch. here are the monitors I have been looking at http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-XL2420TE-Performance-24-Inch-Monitor/dp/B00D7IG556/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1411348829&sr=1-4&keywords=BenQ+XL2420T http://www.amazon.com/PA248Q-24-Inch-LED-Lit-Professional-Graphics/dp/B008DWH00K/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1411348322&sr=1-2&keywords=Asus+PA249Q http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ITORMDC/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2NG4HB43UEDVL http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J48E0FA/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A334XHS1C5Y12J http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-EW2740L-27-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00FYKX0DA/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1411349958&sr=1-6&keywords=benq+27+inch Thanks
  13. Ok so from these three amp/dacs what one should I get? Is it worth the extra cost for the e10k or monoprice or is the syba one just as good for what I am using it for? Also is there any difference between the K702 and the Q701? http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-E10K-Headphone-Amplifier-Black/dp/B00LP3AMC2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410838268&sr=8-1&keywords=e10k http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=120&cp_id=12008&cs_id=1200801&p_id=11567&seq=1&format=2#specifications http://www.amazon.com/Syba-Stereo-Headphone-Amplifier-SD-DAC63057/dp/B009WN7QT4/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410838621&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=sbya+amp Thanks
