Necro update in case someone finds this thread in a web search. I replaced this board with a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master. It runs more USB ports off the processor as well as having an Intel USB/Thunderbolt chip for everything else. Highly recommend it.

Title says it all. I'm looking for a tracking and remote wipe program for my laptop. I'd use the Windows "Find My Device" but there's no way to sign into it without signing into literally everything else in the operating system. So I was wondering if any other companies offer anything. I was hoping for sort of like what Apple does with iCloud for Macbooks - tracking, remote lock, and remote wipe/reset functionality in case a street thief made off with it or something. Basically the ability to trigger "Reset my PC" and have it reset back to a fresh Windows 10 install remotely. Open to any and all suggestions.

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a bad mood tonight. My current motherboard's ASMedia USB controller almost corrupted the source of a backup I was trying to make due to a semaphore lockout. Because the lock happened in both Windows and Linux, I'm placing the blame on the USB controller itself. I tried my backup in a Dell prebuilt that had an Intel USB controller and the backup went super well. So yeah, I'm pretty livid about my motherboard now. I mean, it's a Crosshair VI for goodness sake! Top of the line until you actually try to do some actual work on it, am I right? Anyways, ranting aside, I want to find a new motherboard that has an Intel manufactured USB controller so this issue doesn't happen again. And yeah, I am willing to move off Ryzen for this (What's the point of a 16 thread chip if everything else glitches out on you?), so Intel chipsets are fair game here. Anyone got any suggestions?

Hey all, I'm looking for a good guide on the various CLI flags for the FAH client. I tried searching the Folding@Home site but most of their docs pertained to either the web interface or the advanced GUI client. I'm exploring the possibility of running FAH in a headless config that can be scripted for server deployment.

This worked! I used a combo of MiniTool (to clone the partition) and GParted (to set the BOOT and EFI flags). Thanks!

Does it matter where it is on the drive (using the above image as a guide)? Can it be after the MSR partition and function fine?

Hey all, I'm trying to expand my EFI boot partition for a Linux dual boot to work correctly. However, I cannot reallocate the space as the 16MB Windows MSR partition is in the way. Attached is a screenshot from Minitool Partition Wizard showing what I'm dealing with. Any free space from C: cannot be moved past the 16MB "other" partition to the EFI partition for the Linux install. How can I reallocate the space? I would prefer not to reinstall Windows, but I understand if that's the easiest way to do this.

I'm US based, so using Chinese tech over here isn't a good idea at the moment. Again, US based. We don't use Whatsapp over here. And people over here are starting to get mad at Apple for making expensive phones. So I think a new competitor would work over here.

Excuse me? I know a ton of people in my community who would be interested in a phone like that. They want privacy but no one will take the risk and offer it. Tell that to my boss, community members, volunteers, union organizers, etc. who all insist on using smartphone apps instead of calling and texting people. I don't want to start the whole "If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear" argument. I just want to find a phone that doesn't have a bunch of hands up in my private business. Taking the bait for a second, those circumstances can change very fast.

I figured as much. And I just read the officially supported list at LineageOS (the CyanogenMod continuation) that shows them dropping device support like dead flies. Seriously, we either have to sign up for Apple or Google's cloud? And we can't run our devices with no cloud? I didn't sign up for this. The whole point of this post was that I shouldn't have to do this. There should be at least one non-Chinese OEM that's selling a non-Googled device.

Hey all, I'm looking for a retailer in North America that sells the Cryorig C7 RGB cooler for an SFF build I'm planning. Cryorig pulled out of the US for a while in protest of the tariffs on Chinese imports, but they have started distributing again through OutletPC. Unfortunately, OutletPC hasn't stocked the part yet. The Cryorig website also doesn't list anything for Canada. Anyone know of any other places that sell Cryorig parts in the US or Canada?

Hey all, I'm looking for a 92mm RGB fan for a low profile cooler. I'm considering building an SFF ITX computer and may be restricted on the cooler height. The only 92mm RGB cooler I found so far is the Cryorig C7 RGB, but Cryorig is currently not selling the unit in my country (USA) in protest of my government's tariffs against China. (Side note, importing it and paying the tariff myself would increase the cost to $60-70 USD before state sales tax). Where can I find a 92mm fan with RGB?

Hey all, I was cleaning my room today when I discovered that I still had my old iPod Touch. I used it in college from 2011-2014 and its been in my desk ever since. I tried booting it to see if I had anything valuable on it but I quickly remembered that I had installed a tethered Redsn0w jailbreak on it. Redsn0w is not compatible with the latest iTunes and my usual workaround involving a Windows XP virtual machine (VirtualBox) is not working either. When I put my iPod in DFU mode, I can no longer pass it through to the XP VM. Any suggestions or ideas? Should I try this in VMWare instead of VirtualBox? Or do I have to backup my iTunes library and install iTunes 10.7 on the host OS to get Redsn0w to work?

The whole point of that post is that I don't want to use the rear jack for my headphones. I already use it for a set of speakers. I want to use the front jack. If I start OCing stuff again I might. Or if I upgrade to the new Ryzen processor. Or do a custom loop. Trying to plan for the future a bit since I have the opportunity.

I posted in the GPU forum about it. Tried everything except replace the PSU or GPU. I figured the PSU was the culprit since that's the one part I haven't upgraded yet. My original system two years ago had a low end ASUS 1060 3GB in it that didn't draw much power/current.

Hey all, My two year old EVGA 650 GQ has some serious ripple going on. It's causing my GPU to coil whine and will sometimes even transfer the whine into my headphones. Since any RMA would leave me without my computer (I have a laptop, but otherwise that's it), I am forced to buy another power supply with less ripple. So which PSUs have the least amount of ripple? I was looking at the Seasonic Focus Plus Gold line, but was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions.
