Sure, you can vape without nicotine but then its pointless unless you like the aroma therapy and blowing huge clouds. Nicotine by itself isn't completely terrible, the problem with cigarettes is inhaling smoke and with vapes well it's not smoke it's vapor. I prefer vaping because I can do it indoors and it gives me a reason to get up from my seat go out for a walk while at work. And the social aspect too.

It's cool to see tech companies take security seriously while also being open about it. Now, I'm no hacker myself, but I'm not sure if $10k is enough for someone to try and find some flaws in closed source software and also decipher the data inside. Still though, I'm curious to see how this will pan out.

This is why I never buy games as soon as they release, always gotta wait and see, maybe wait for some discounts. There are plenty of games to choose from and there's very little reason to get this hyped for anything. Have to stay cool and not rush into buying. And no pre-purchasing.

Lots of indie games with the boys like Terraria, Stardew Valley and Minecraft. Most played game is Warframe, though I kind of stopped this decade, needed something fresh. I know it got an update, but I don't want to get sucked in again.

I switched to Linux when Windows 10 first came out as I didn't like the lack of privacy in 10. Check out Linux Mint. It's designed to be pretty friendly to uses coming from a Windows environment; it's what I've switched to.

My brother still uses win 7 because he can't be bothered to get legitimate win10. Though I was also surprised when he mentioned that he's considering moving to Linux because it's free. I've considered that idea myself, but I'd like to try it out first somehow.

Anyone remember voat.co? It was touted as a cool and freedom respecting alternative to Reddit. I checked it out a few times and it seemed like it was co-opted by the alt-right. Don't know how it looks right now because it seems that you have to have an account to see what's going on.
Now I'm not saying that the same will happen with Mastodon, but it's a possibility if they're really going to be unmoderated like that. Personally I don't even use Twitter but I'm curious to see how this will unfold.

Agreed, this whole event is being blown wayyyy out of proportion. I mean, it's just one server, no actual serious damage has been done. Considering how big NordVPN is this is a fairly minor incidend. And besides, it seems to have an ulterior motive - Tech Crunch is owned by Verizon and they released their own VPN some time ago (source https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20180807/08182440385/verizon-launched-vpn-without-bothering-to-write-real-privacy-policy.shtml) so it could just be some desperate attempt to make Nord seem unreliable to push their own service. It just feels like everyone is reading the headline, see the word "hacked" and then just lose their minds.

I think the reactions especially by the OP are quite overblown. The title is more than just a little sensationalist.

It feels like people are out for blood. NordVPN is a good offering and is far more private and secure than PIA or any UK or US based service ever will be.

The Five Eyes countries are out to get your data so that they can control you. If you choose to use a VPN from a Five Eyes country then you will end up with an organisation like the NSA having your data. PIA says they don't collect logs and I'm calling BS on it right now. PIA is a UK based company and so they are forced to keep data they collect for some period of time because of "Know Your Customer". ISPs here collect your data and must keep it for a good long while before they are allowed to delete it.

The reality is that most VPN services require some degree of trust in them but audits by 3rd parties help. In that respect, NordVPN has had an audit and they were found not to collect logs and so I believe and trust them. I would always pick a VPN from outside the FIve Eyes countries.

Disclaimer: I am a paying customer of NordVPN and I am also in a position to financially benefit from the success of NordVPN.

Do you lick em or bite em? Cuz apparently chomping on ice cream is frowned upon by most people. I don't know why though, licking takes too long and the ice cream starts melting so I gotta go fast

CookieSmasherGus got a reaction from Ben17 in vpn is it worth it?
I went with NordVPN because I heard they're good at getting around geo restrictions for various streaming services (like Netflix) and work on a variety of devices. And of course the whole country jurisdiction thing - Nord is in Panama while PIA is in America, so to me Nord would seem like the better option for privacy even though neither of the companies have been proven to keep logs.

I'll stick with Steam for the time being, I won't support a company that makes exclusivity deals just for the sake of getting more customers. Very anti consumer in my opinion, with all that fortnite money they could work on making a better launcher than steam is.

Doesn't look like anything to worry about both for NordVPN and PIA users, the article doesn't seem that well written or reliable to me anyway.

Most of the dlc is cosmetic and really non-essential to the overall game and story, but it's pretty fun if you like the characters and gameplay. I got it all when it was on sale but haven't finished everything yet.
