Evil-Erthanu's Achievements

  1. Currently using: IBM Model M Tek Syndicate Standard Issue mouse AKG K7xx
  2. Is it possible to run Firestrike on 7 way crossfire? The score would break records I bet.
  3. When did the problem start? Do you remember making any changes to your system at all around that time?
  4. A list of questions to consider: Do you get a blue screen when this happens, that will have clues to what caused the issue? Does the computer reboot by its self or do you have to manually turn it on again? Do you have any other PCI-e devices other than your GPU or any other less common peripherals installed? Try running your computer in Windows safe mode and see if you can reproduce the problem. If you can: it's probably not faulty drivers, if you can't: Make sure all your hardware devices have the correct drivers installed. With more details like these we should be able to help you find the issue a lot easier. Good luck
  5. Do you ever get a blue screen, or is it just a complete system hang? Try running on a single stick of memory and see if you still get the problem (and try each DIMM that you have). Take a look in the windows event viewer, it might have the answer to your problem, check out this video for a pretty good explanation on how to use it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAbuZ_LQJCo
  6. I have to commend your thorough troubleshooting efforts. If it's a software thing, go for a poke around in the windows event viewer and you might be able to find out what's happening just before shutoff. (Wendell from Tek Syndicate has a great video about that here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAbuZ_LQJCo). Most people don't have spare power supplies laying around, but that seems like something to test next. Also check that all of your power cables are seated properly and aren't lose. Good Luck
  7. You will need to provide some more information. What is your motherboard model? Another other thing you can try is plugging the HDD into a different SATA port on your motherboard. On a final note. Your computer can wait, go study. It sounds like your computer is still usable so just focus on what you have to do and come back to it tomorrow after your exam.
  8. I wasn't able to find any settings like that. Only to enable/disable the onboard controller, but thanks for the suggestion. Another note, my particular motherboard has no M.2 support. I may have made a typo, it's Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 3.
  9. Oh, no, it has about 6 I think. Due to the graphics card being installed, it's pretty damn hard to get at some of the other ones. But I will have another go. It's a Gigabyte Z97 Gaming-3
  10. Hi guys, I have an optical drive i'm trying to install, alongside an ssd and a hdd. Funny thing is, windows only will recognize devices plugged into the top 2 sata ports on my motherboard. eg. Boot disc and secondary disk, or boot disc and optical drive. Though in my UEFI boot menu, all 3 are available. I'm totally stumped. Ideas?
  11. Well, Uh..... So I had the sata cable still plugged into the motherboard, though with nothing connected to it on the other end. So I removed it, and now the computer does nothing at all when I press the power button (yes I checked the power was on). Getting super worried now.
  12. Yes, I unplugged everything that I changed. Just to be clear, the computer does not POST
  13. I just installed an optical drive in my computer and now it refuses to boot. Hard drive spins up and case fans controlled by external controller run. But cpu fan and gpu stay off. I undid all changes but no luck. I'm super worried that I might have killed it, but I don't know how. Does anyone have any further troubleshooting suggestions? Thanks. Hardware is a 4690k, Corsair RM650, GTX 970 Gigabyte and a Gigabyte Z97 gaming-3 motherboard.
