Get a good ol' Phison 4.0 with NAND, it will trash anything mentioned in this thread in 4k r/w and sequentials are always much higher anyway.

    https://www.amazon.com.be/-/en/Apacer-SSD-512GB-3-0G-AS2280Q4U/dp/B0BGCC8HBC?language=en_GB#customerReviews

Apacer has some of the dirtiest cheap prices towards the E18 refresh Phison w/ DRAM. It performs like flies out of a HDPE trash can on a good day...

I use a SN770 as the boot drive in my HTPC. Very happy with it.

OU812 reacted to Nexxus in Apr 14 2024. The day I killed the "Can it run Crysis?" meme
Each game is running at maximum settings at 1920x1080. I initially tried to get crysis 1, 2 and 3 running but sadly cryengine has an arbitrary limitation that will not allow you to run more than one instance of it at a time. I could only circumvent it by launching crysis 2 first, followed by 1 and warhead in developer mode which seems to be removed in the newer titles.

    It ain't goin' nowhere.
$40 more and take away 2 TB?

    $110 for 8 TB isn't bad but $70 for 10 TB is a steal.
Some reviews could be fake or lies, so this is understandable. Hell, maybe the 5 Newegg reviews are fake, who knows. I just know I've never had a single HDD mess up on me. Every single one is still alive and kicking. I dunno if it's because of how I use them or what but I love em'. And I've left a 5 star positive review for each one.

The only con I've experienced from an HDD is boot time when the power goes out during an online competitive gaming session. When the power goes out and I'm forced to turn on my PC after it's been powered off from the power outage, it takes a good 4-6 minutes to get back into the game before my team loses because it's 4v5.

Boot time when first turning on my PC any day of the week is not a con though because each night I just put my PC to sleep. So when I turn it on, it's the same 10 seconds an SSD is.

And for this reason, my personal PC still has Windows installed on my 1 TB HDD. People tell me to get an SSD for it all the time for it, I never do.

Update the BIOS and put an 5800X3D in there 🙂
The 6800XT is still a pretty darn good GPU.

But if you have 1k USD to spend I would go with a 7800X3D, 32GB DDR5 and a B650 motherboard.

There's always newer, faster, shinier hardware coming "soon". If you keep waiting for it, you'll wait forever.

Get something affordable that suits your needs as they are now.

the thing is typically if a new gen comes out nowadays that does *not* mean necessarily prices of older gen drops by much, if at all.

because these cards are so powerful they're still good for years to come... yet are likely more affordable than newer gen still.

tldr: if ya'll waiting for price drops you'll always wait,  or something.

so get a 4070 super, best value right now.
