  1. So a few months back I asked my internet provider BT UK to send an engineer to fix my internet issues, in fact I have had two visits but they could not find a fault, however the last engineer said the problem seems to be coming from inside the house.

Every now and then my internet drops from 50mbps to around 0.95 to 10 mbps. After pulling my hair out i finally found the source of my problem but i dont understand it. This is my setup.

    Laptop on wifi

    Main gaming PC on   LAN

Photo Editing PC on LAN and also Wifi

Other devices phones, Amazon Firestick etc

The issue is intermittent and random, when it tanks the speed effects all devices and is correctable by disconnecting my editing PC from the internet. It has onboard LAN and a wife card, it makes no difference how it is connected, if i plug the LAN or turn on the wifi on that PC the broadband drops again.

    Help Please

Most modern systems would still operate in dual channel with an 8GB stick and a 16GB stick paired together. Just the first 8GB on each module would be in dual channel and the remaining 8GB on the 16GB stick would be in single channel.

Best to double check it's running in dual channel with something like CPU-Z after installing, but it should work.

EDIT: I'd also point out that dual channel and capacity aren't really comparable. If your system only ever needs 12GB, having 24GB won't help with anything. And likewise, if your system needs 20GB, even with dual channel, if you only have 16GB, performance is still going to tank.

    That's very helpful thanks,

  3. Hoping some on can help. I have a Dell OptiPlex 3040 connected to my TV and also an Amazon Fire cube TV, i am using both to stream Moonlight from my gaming rig. The Fire Cube does a good job but has  annoying lag on the controls. I have been experimenting with the OptiPlex and it does a good job but it will only run at 30hz which is causing realy bad tearing.

    Optiplex to TV  30hz

    Fire Cube to TV 60Hz

    Optplex to monitor 60Hz

Is there a setting i could use to force the TV to 60Hz with the SFF computer. I am Using HDMI for all connection and have tried different cables ETC.

  4. Hope someone can help, I have two host computers and I am in home streaming on steam and Moonlight. I have no issues with Moonlight my issue is with steam in home streaming.

    1. I have great connection 80mbps and up on PC2. 980ti Ryzen 1700
    2. I have a low 25 mbps connection on PC1 2070s Ryzen 3600
    3. Both on the same wired connection Cat6
    4. Both have fast connection and no issues using Moonlight Streaming issue is only with Steam.
    5. I am streaming to a Amazon Fire TV Cube.

Any Ideas, everything I have tried has failed.

  6. Looking for help plese

I have an Aorus extreme gaming x470 motherboad with 32gb of corsair vengeance RGB pro 3200 ram and all was well until i upgraded to bios to F42d AGESA ABBA. My pc would not post so i removed the ram. I get a post with 2 sticks and sometimes 3 sticks of ram but it will not allow 4. I have gone back to previous bios but the issue is still there. Help please.

Ah ok, ignore the statement about it being normal behavior. it is not. My most recent additions are SanDisk Extreme cards and I regularly dump 20GB+ without issue.

Can you do a transfer with resource monitor open and see if anything looks unusual or if any metric becomes pinned?

Not sure what I am looking for, I have not used resource monitor much.

A few questions: How much data are you typically transferring? Do you use all the same cards, or card from many vendors? What is the duration of a typical transfer for you?

How much RAM is in your system?

Yes I have 32gb 3200mhz RAM the cards are Sandisk extreme pro 300mb/s, normal transfer is 8gb of data and transfer times about 80 seconds to 300 seconds depending on the speed lost during transfer. Thanks

  9. Hi Guys, looking for help

I  have a new motherboard (Aorus X470 ultra gaming ) and I use it with  a Ryzen 5 3600. I am a Photographer and use SD cards in my cameras and us a Kingston card reader on USB 3.0. When transferring my speeds drop from 220 mb/s to 16 mb/s about half way through. Any ideas on why and can I speed it up. If its helpful am transferring to a 3TB Mech drive but it also happens on my NVME

    Thanks for any advice.

  10. Looking for advice guys, i have been using a ryzen 1700 and a 980ti for a few years now and I have been more than happy, however I have been frustrated with my 1080p frame rates especially in ubisoft games. I am looking to gain 15 20 fps but i can only replace my GPU or CPU.

The main use for my PC is commercial photography and stop motion so gaming is secondary but i still love to game.

Where would I see the biggest gains Ryzen 3600 or GPU around £300 budget.
