The adapter is the part where you can put a notebook wifi-card into. (Since most PC's dont have the right connection)
I might have worded it incorrectly here and there, for that im sorry.

So I'm assuming I would need to buy both and put the notebook card into the adapter?

Ah yeah sorry, i was guessing US.
Next time keep in mind to mention location if you want correct suggestions. 🙂

We silly enough to take the extra step and look in the UK for similar products.

    edit:

Not 100% sure but this does look like one:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/fenvi-M-2-NGFF-PCIe-Converter/dp/B07RLZG522/ref=sr_1_40?dchild=1&keywords=Wireless+Network+Card+Adapter&qid=1613319630&sr=8-40

I'll be honest, I don't understand what is meant when it says adapter, not WiFi card?
    What does that mean exactly?

I woudl first inform if there's a slim bracket for your wifi card you already bought. (lots of them come with those in the box).

Also if you need to buy new, i would advice going the route of getting an adapter and buying a notebook PCI-express wifi/bt card. (Theres a lot more of them, so more choice and usualy somewhat better quality)

The adapter, (slim bracket is included).

Ill look for an OK wifi card too, gimme a sec. 🙂

No bracket in the box unfortunately, was one of the first things I checked.
Can't seem to find the linked on Amazon UK unfortunately, but I will keep looking 🙂

  4. Hi all,

Looking for a bit of a hand.
I recently build a PC for my dad, and didn't consider that the network card I bought would have a bracket that was too big for the case I bought, so I need to find a new one.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can use to search, or any card suggestions? Don't want to spend too much on it.
    Case is https://aerocool.io/product/cs-101/

    Thanks in advance,

  5. Hi all,

Have just started building a PC to be used for work (no gaming), and have run into a small potential issue.
I have an Asus Prime-B450M-A II motherboard with a Ryzen 5 3400G, and a Be Quiet SFX power 2 400W power supply.
The MoBo has an 8-pin CPU connector, while the PSU only has a 4-pin.
Will this be an issue? I know there are adaptors that I can use but I don't know if they're worth it (like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Akasa-AK-CBPW10-15BK-Power-Supply-Adapter/dp/B0051Y0B0Y), or if I can just plug it straight in?

PC will only be used for general bits, internet browsing and office, so no overclocking or anything like that, just turning on XMP to get the 3200 MHz the RAM can output.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

For 350-400$ you could easily get a 1080 used/new! I would recommend going that route first before buying a 2060.

I would go for a decent cooler for the 2060, a Dual fan design from most of the manufactures should be fine. Dont get a blower card, or a single fan unless you have a tiny case

Looking to buy new only, and in the UK.
1080 is out of my price range (£350 ish) so looking at the 2060 as it's cheaper than the 1070Ti for similar performance.
As you said, looking for a dual/triple fan but beyond that, unsure as to which is best.
Cheapest I have found is ZOTAC at this point.

  7. Looking to buy an RTX 2060 to go along with a new build, are any better clear winners when it comes to Gigabyte, ASUS, ZOTAC etc, or is it best to go for the cheapest option?

I got your friend peripherals, a 144hz monitor, 1tb of SSD, and everything else you wanted. all for 1447. (the PC itself is just 1050ish)

    @Valont

Definitely a strong foundation to work from here, only a few small changes to integrate RGB and stuff like that!
And potentially making the CPU unlocked, which I am guessing is the 2600X?

  9. Ok so lots of info (I am reading but it's taking me a while)
So update on my side of things:

No longer a need for an internal optical drive which is positive, a lot more case options.
Does want to have the ability to stream and potentially edit videos.
Will be sticking to 1080p dual-monitor, as opposed to 1440p.
Things like the SSD, wants the quicker speed and happy to give up size for it.
Still wants to work with the red/black colour scheme and likes the little rgb touches on RAM etc.
Looking to keep as close to the £1200 budget as possible, with slight flexibility, which isn't including any kind of peripherals.

So having said all of the above, main parts we're still unsure about would be the CPU & MoBo, GPU and PSU for somewhere in the realms of £800.

Appreciate the help from you all!

and also.. PLEASE don't use this Asus z390 mobo. they failed the z390 gen of motherboards...

Ah yes, Asus really fucked up with Z390.

Better alternative would be Z370 with an update then?

  11. @mxk. He might do some coding but honestly not sure, I think it'll mainly be gaming. Potentially open himself into streaming in future but it's early days and he's currently gaming on his macbook so it could go any which way from here. I think 1440p is unlikely, it'll probably be closer to running dual 1080p.
Left the option to overclock in there as it's something he wants to be able to have the option to try.
What kind of air cooler did you have in mind?
And pcpartpicker.com doesn't have some of the parts mentioned so no luck there.

@SupaKomputa What makes the 9600k a bad option? Personally only have experience with intel which is why we originally went that way.

  12. Helping out a friend of mine build his first PC, budget of somewhere around the £1000-£1200 mark.
This is what we have so far, which is sat just shy of £1100:

    CPU - Intel I5-9600K

    Motherboard - ASUS ROG Z390-H

    GPU - MSI GTX 1060 6GB

    RAM - Vengeance 2x8Gb (RGB)

CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Evo 212 Black (RGB)

    PSU - Corsair TX750M

    SSD - Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 256GB

    HDD - Seagate BarraCuda 2Tb (256MB Cache)

CASE - Sharkoon AI7000 Glass (red)

    OPTICAL DRIVE

    WiFi - ASUS AC56

Still very unsure as to which GPU to go for, considering waiting for the 1160 depending on release date.
Going to be gaming on it but nothing overly strenuous and most likely only in 1080p, maybe 1440p.

    Any input would be welcome!

    Thanks!

  13. Looking to upgrade my case that I've had for several years now, while not changing my system.
Needs to support ATX motherboard, with a PSU shroud, and preferably, I'd like a window.
Having a little trouble finding a case at a reasonable price point, that aesthetically isn't vulgar, that has Optical Disk Drive support.

The only two options I have found so far are, but am a bit hesitant as the Cooler Master seems to have airflow issues, and just not sure about the Sharkoon:
    Cooler Master MB600L http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mid-tower/masterbox-mb600l/
    Sharkoon AI7000 https://en.sharkoon.com/product/AI7000Glass

Any suggestions/guidance would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Val
