trevb0t reacted to porina in US lawmaker proposes a public database of all AI training material used by AI models.
My concern here is that copyright law already abused by the holders. I still wonder why generative AI is held to a different standard than humans. As humans, we consume copyrighted content all the time, but we're not prevented from generating works in areas where we have seen copyrighted content, with or without royalties. It is inevitable that seeing those would have contributed however little. As long as the AI system doesn't have perfect memory, how is it any different? That is, it learns the concept of a cat rather than memorises a specific picture of a cat. Systems that require specific and exact knowledge it could make some sense.
I look forward to a chatbot not telling me "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that."

Sec
I'm pretty sure you aren't CPU bottlenecked in CP2077 at 1440p with you setup, as I am not with more res more GPU and a similar *CPU* (edited !)
You will never acheive 165fps at 1440p with any card in CP2077 that's all
Imo your upgrades won't give you any more performance in such sitch (haha) as it's a hard GPU bottleneck
That's why I don't upgrade my 5900X btw 🙂

trevb0t reacted to MiszS in X470 to 5800X3D
Imo it's worth to get the 7800X3D, because the 5800X3D is a pretty small upgrade from your current cpu, so I don't think it's worth the money spend

trevb0t reacted to Levent in Choosing hardware for my Home Server
Ram will be the limiting factor here. None of the things you listed particularly heavy on the CPU. I3 10100 should be plenty (get the igpu one though, as it can help with jellyfin transcoding)
Aim to get 32G.

trevb0t reacted to m9x3mos in New To The Home Media Server World
Largely I have had better luck getting nvidia to work with transcoding in Linux. The 650 won't have the nvenc encoder for acceleration though, but the 1050 does.

trevb0t reacted to m9x3mos in New To The Home Media Server World
For a couple of users, the hardware you have will work fine.
Jellyfin for GPU encoding might be a little odd as I don't know if it supports intel but it might. I don't use that app.
Toss on linux mint and docker and you can start setting that stuff up.

trevb0t reacted to Electronics Wizardy in Worth upgrading fans?
I'd just set the fans to spin slower if noise if the problem.
The better fans will provide a tiny improvement in cooling for a given noise level, so spin the slower if you want quieter. Those temps are fine and you have some headroom.

trevb0t reacted to will0hlep in ddr5 ram pairing for 13700k?
Is that budget literally just for RAM? You really shouldn't spend that much on RAM. I doubt you'd notice a difference between a $300 set and a set of Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-5600 CL36 for less than half the price. It would probably only be a couple of FPS, if that.

just this week mcdo's fully flesh and bone humans screwed up my order.. i dont expect AI to do any better.
prediction: this is gonna bomb SO HARD that wendy's will just quietly replace this with either a human (again), or a touchscreen order display.. y'know.. the way public transit has been doing things for like a decade now?

trickle down economics.
Look I dont all ways explain things before jumping to conclusions so here you go.
they are not just a large corporation, they are a food industry.
food industry is relative to population.
population is going to take too much typing to explain, number go up, random area of the world get more people near by
it is imperative that they grow proportionally and scale to meet but not exceed this number.
why not exceed? more workers, more property, more overhead for no gain.
the removal of workforce means smaller restaurants, less land cost, less cost to build, less overhead for workforce, probably a few more critical things
the downside? more trained maintenance, more untrained maintenance, way more equipment to maintain.
I assure you there are teams of smart people who have calculated all of this and seen a worthwhile investment in switching to unmanned restaurants.
I'm willing to wager one of the main benefits is that part I said earlier about exceeding demand.
it is my opinion that it will result in an increase in growth rate of the company, which literally means more buildings, more equipment, hell more nails and pieces of wood, more jobs to make all those. it is all relative.
So no, you may not see your burger is a dollar cheaper NOW, but you may not have to drive to get it pretty soon. The price may not scale the same as it has done with inflation.

No one has suggested otherwise.
That's a very abstract definition of "education". Usually people use the term "Hobby", or "side hustle" at best when you're trying to turn something that you buy tools for, into a career with no formal method of education via an accredited institution.
Calling you out for trying to say education = more money to buy paint brushes for art, or a saw & drill for carpentry is not a common sense use of the term. Nitpicking would be defined as me pointing out that nitpicking is not spelled with a k, or:
Price, is not in fact, a relative term.

You're under the assumption, that a big corporation is passing the savings on to the consumer. Usually savings for a company just means more profits for the company and their shareholders, not cheaper stuff.
I wouldn't bet on cheaper spicy chicken sandwiches anytime soon....

Don't make me laugh. Humans still believe in a mythical being that created everything, many humans are not very adaptable at all. Plus there's a lot more humans than jobs.

You think more unemployed people means more money to education? Do you even understand how a lot of education is funded?
Less people in jobs means less money in the economy, less tax being paid, higher prices in general as less people are spending. Paying less humans in a capitalist economy is always ultimately a bad thing.

good.
less overhead
cheaper food
less money going to food
more money going to education and bettering your life
education and bettering your life going to self worth
self worth going to image
image going to physical shape
physical shape going to eating healthier
eating healthier going to not eating wendys.

Porn is legal in the US. There's no porn on YouTube, they don't allow it. According to your reasoning, you must also conclude that YouTube should host porn as it's perfectly legal, right? And before you claim that this is outlined in the community guidelines whereas the lines around firearm content are a bit more blurry, again, you defend firearm content on the basis of legality here, not on the basis of community guidelines. If you want to force YouTube to offer everybody a platform, you'll have to campaign for it to become nationalized and funded by taxes.
This isn't about whether you or I or anyone is ok with censorship. It's just that this is the reality of how private industry works. Content platforms aren't a democracy.

trevb0t reacted to starsmine in LTT keeps skirting the problems with google's censorship of gun channels.
No, there are people in this thread who know what the word censorship means. First amendment strictly only applies governmentally in the US. It does not for non governmental, or non US entities. Float plane is neither governmental, nor is it US.
and your first amendment (as well as all amendments) rights end where others begin, hence why terroristic and violent(which is not physical fyi) rhetoric does not fall under it and a few other exceptions.
Also, I need to stress this with the strongest possible emphasis. Deplatforming is not censorship. Its simply not blasting it on a megaphone. The fact that Im not into weapons, and this happens, blows your argument out of the water.
Again, you are asking for youtube to directly, by hand, editorialize. THATS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN so long as section 230 remains the way it is. Once they editorialize, they become a publisher, and good faith moderation will not be enough to protect them, so they will have to clamp down even harder in terms of who is allowed to upload.
As for some of the others on your list, you are being facetious about why they may or may not be being clamped down on (they are not disproportionally).
Ever notice the loudest people who claim about censorship are not being censored. yea. me to. its a grift.
Generally advertisers do not want to advertise on unknown gun content, that is their right to choose to do that. And its wild that you think companies must be forced to put ads on that content.

trevb0t reacted to da na in FX-9590 + GTX 1060 watercooled build for Nextcloud NAS + Jellyfin
To be very clear, are you buying one of the most inefficient CPUs ever made to run a server on?
If so, please dont. If you already have it laying around doing nothing, honestly it would be best for the chip to stay that way. With your budget of $1.5K you can easily get a chip that uses less than a third of the energy for the same or more performance. And if you're upgrading from a Pi 4, really any x86 will be better.
Are you doing GPU transcoding? If not, you can leave out the 1060 if you get a CPU with integrated graphics.

10100F is probably best bang for the buck here. i know these are about 50 GBP on the second hand market. It's a hyperthreaded 4 core with much more single thread grunt than anything pre-Ryzen from AMD. you could run this off a b460 board which in this country again would set you back another 50-60 GBP on the second hand market.

@VEXICUS I see the Neo-Forza NFS01 is C-Tier, the NFS06 is B Tier, is it safe to say the NFS10 a step up from the 06? (maybe not a whole tier, just technically better specced?)
