ehrm what? The G4 is a great phone at its current price point.

The problem is not that LG phones in particular aren't selling as well as they used to, the whole market is slowing down. We've come to a point where the only reason to ever upgrade is poor software support in the long run. The smartphone market is pretty much in the same place as Intel's desktop offering at the moment - they are selling parts to those who have something prior to sandy bridge, because everyone else sees no reason to upgrade.

It states that in the update notes.

EDIT: If anyone is super mad about it, there's already a Hot Fix Driver available, 361.82, which you can download here: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/914053/geforce-drivers/announcing-geforce-hotfix-driver-361-82/

For those of you unaware, driver version 361.75 just launched today. Along with support for Rise of the Tomb Raider and The Division, it also included BETA support for external GPU solutions via thunderbolt. That last part is the important one, however, as many (though not all) users are reporting the USB Eject icon to show your internal, PCIe GPU as a removable device:

Some users have reported imediate PC crashes, others said nothing happened. ManuelGuzman from Nvidia already stated:

This is part of the new BETA support for external GPUs however this message will be removed from the next driver.
So there you have it, before anyone goes crazy asking "omg wth is this?!". Nvidia is aware of the small issue (it's not harmful if you don't mess with it) and it should soon be corrected in another 370mb driver download.

What's funny is that if this was an ACTUAL feature instead of a bug, just like hot swapping HDs, Nvidia would be getting praised for it's achievements instead of getting hate for it's buggy software. Oh Humanity, y 're u alwayz so cruel........

Lexias reacted to CGurrell in UPDATE- Microsoft refund $8k of fees racked up from FIFA
A couple of weeks ago on WAN show, Linus and Luke covered a story where a kid had managed to rack up almost $8k worth of charges in FIFA 16, as seen here: https://youtu.be/k_tFt_X57Ik?t=6m30s

Microsoft have now confirmed that they have refunded the $7,625.88 charged by the son, however, they also state that any charges that are made by a minor, to a parents credit or debit card, are considered valid under their service agreement. Microsoft also stated they encourage parents to use all of the features provided on the xbox one console to prevent this from happening again.

As Linus was confused on the show, I thought I would explain how/why anybody would pay microtransactions on FIFA. As an ex-player of the Ultimate Team mode, I fell into EAs trap hundreds of times (using my own, earned money though, not my parents).

In FIFA, there is a game mode called ultimate team, based on trading cards. The idea is you start with some low end (bronze) cards, and purchase packs using either in game currency (coins), or microtransactions (FIFA Points). Coins can be earned by playing games, either single games, cups or league seasons, with rewards given at the end of the Cups and Seasons depending on how well you performed. The problem for most people is that these leagues are 10 games long, and net you maybe 20,000 coins in a season - About 2-3 good packs, the equivalent of which costs about £5 (~$7) if bought for with FIFA Points. FIFA Points can cost anywhere from $.99 for 100, to $99.99 for 12,000 (10,000+2,000 free). These packs give you a chance to pull better players which you can then either sell on the auction house, or place into your team. There are also lots of promos, including Team Of The Week, where top performers in real life get higher rated cards in game. These cards are Limited Edition (7 days in packs only) so can be worth a small fortune. I won't go into team chemistry fully, but multiple players from the same league, team or nation, work better together in game.

Many YouTubers encourage the purchase of packs, and pull lots of packs themselves. An example of this is a YouTuber/Twitch Streamer called Nick28T who spent nearly $10,000 on these packs in one week, during the recent Team Of The Year promo, where 11 players of super high value (millions of coins) were released into packs.

Now I can honestly say, after playing this game for years (since the inception of Ultimate Team in 2009). Pulling these packs is addictive, and $8k of charges racked up in a month is, although slightly surprising, not something I believed could never happen.

Would love to hear the thoughts of people in the comments. Should Microsoft have refunded this? Have you ever racked up more than you thought when playing a game with microtransactions? Have you (as a parent) ever used the features found on consoles for blocking the use or adding of a credit card?

Lexias reacted to Trixanity in AMD Zen to Bring Greater than 40% IPC Increase, New Reports Suggests
AMD has as far as I'm concerned stated multiple times it's 40% over Excavator, so the "lol over Bulldozer amirite?" needs to stop.
Also, "over 40% increase" is most likely just marketing. It's a blanket term for 40% or above. I think it was Gran Turismo that advertised something like "over 900" cars and it had exactly 900 cars in the game. Don't put too much into that statement. Expect 40%, not more. If it does exceed that, then be pleasantly surprised. But don't go around thinking over 40% suddenly means 50% or 60% and then call bullshit when it finally arrives and shows 40%.

Another point: people expect AMD to sell 8 core processors for $200-300. You will be so disappointed that it's not even funny. AMD has stated that they don't want to be a budget option anymore and nor should they be. The 8 core SKUs will be competing against the X99 platform, not Z170. So that's how it will be priced. 4 core SKUs with AMDs SMT solution enabled will compete with your i7s at the $300 price range or whatever. I could easily imagine a 8 core SMT enabled SKU going for $800 - all depending on what SKUs AMD produces and how Broadwell-E will be priced but from what I understand, their 8 core SKU will still be $999 and the new 10 core SKU $1499, so I'd still say $800-900 would be unsurprising. Might even be more.

The 40% IPC number is over Excavator people. It has been advertised as this for a long time now. Excavators IPC is already slightly improved over the previous generations of FX SKU's, so 40% was going to put it right on par with Haswell. If what this report is saying is true, we might see Skylake IPC out of Zen (Again, take this with a grain of salt because at this point, its a rumor from the company itself).

Even if it fails to match Skylake, and just matches Haswell, we will see 8 core CPU's with Haswell IPC, with DDR4 support and a plethora of instruction sets (If they use the same instruction sets as their previous platform, on top of the newer ones they just made exclusively for Zen, then it should be pretty nice). This might allow Zen to disrupt the Z97 and X99 markets (Maybe even the Z170 market, if the IPC boost is somewhere around 45-50%). Sadly, the lack of AVX3 means it won't have too much staying power in my eyes. Let's hope AMD includes it in their Zen+ batch.

I think they said it was 40% over steamroller. I did some numbers a while ago and figured it'd be like 3% slower than Haswell IPC. But cores, clocks and stuff are unknown.

Lexias reacted to GoodBytes in [Update] Netflix is officially going to crack down on users using proxy method(s) to access Netflix U.S - Already going after people!
Many Netflix users in Canada and other countries uses VPN to proxy themselves on U.S servers to access content on Netflix U.S. Netflix has different content in different regions. In the case of Canada, many Canadian prefer the selection and additional content that Netflix U.S has over what Netflix Canada has.
After warnings of not doing this in the past, Netflix announced that it will officially crack down on people accessing content from Netflix of a different region that they are in, using a proxy method.
David Fullagar, Netflix’s vice president of content delivery, says in a Netflix blog post:

It’s unclear, however, exactly how Netflix plans to stop this, but it is possible that they ban users detected to do so.
Netflix is taking such action probably due to high pressure by the movie industry in order to renew contract or build confidence to be able to get the needed licenses/agreement for providing Netflix in 130 countries.

    UPDATE!
Special thanks to @zMeul for the tip:
Netflix is going after Australian's who are using any sort of tools to get Netflix from the U.S instead of their region.
What happens, is when an Australian tries to access Netflix U.S, a message is displayed on the page:

It doesn't affect all Australian's yet, so some with different tools can.
It is believed that Netflix is doing IP bans on providers to block users from access the service.

ya AMD and Nvidia do not seem to have any overall technical edge over one another. Even if one has a victory the other is always there or thereabouts with 15% of the same performance. AMDs main issues in the GPU space are marketing and distribution related. e.g. some people still spread nonsense (AMD drivers suck) which gets reinforced each time an issue crops up. Nvidia doesn't have to deal with that, they have plenty of serious issues but people tend to criticize them for those particular issues rather than making blanket statements (nvidia sucks), the brand name strength of geforce helps the perception I guess. This is a marketing issue which AMD has to eventually sort out especially amongst the less tech savvy or prejudiced. What I have noticed is that AMD GPUs tend to sell better amongst tech savvy people who research. But probably the average PC gamer who only looks up stuff when he needs to buy a GPU or randomly walks into a shop is more comfortable with the 'geforce' brand name.

Intel on the other-hand is a juggernaut and it seems to be an uphill battle against them in technical terms. The only thing that must be encouraging for AMD is that Intel too has slowed down performance gains of late (maybe due to physics and natural limits). So even if AMD cannot beat them they probably have hope that they can narrow the gap enough to start selling CPUs at decent profit margins in bigger quantities than now.
