  2. Other than the fact that they are both 80+ certified power supplies. Yes they are both at opposite ends of the market and have different uses, but my point is that they are both reliable components with decent build quality. To further explain my original point, because you clearly missed it; In my opinion - you can't go wrong with Corsair, no matter what technical level or price range you are looking for, this is not to say that there are not other brands that I would equally recommend (but Corsair was mentioned by OP).
  3. In 2014 at the age of 15, built for gaming, video editing and graphic design. 4. 'I' beginning a personal opinion. Yes they do offer a range, but I was making a recommendation out of personal preference.
  5. Whilst the temperature is to be expected as per the above explanation, the card can handle itself just fine at that temperature so nothing to be concerned about (although the fan might get a little noisy!)
  6. What version of Windows are you running? 32bit Windows will restrict your usable RAM no matter what your motherboards capacity.
  7. You may be right about that power button, but if not it does sound like the PSU or even a short? If it was anything else it would spin up and then shut down.
  8. I would go for whatever you need right now, instead of worrying about 'future-proofing'. You don't know what your needs will be in the future, you may build a future-proofed machine and never benefit from it when the 'future' comes; and if you do end up needing to upgrade because you didn't future-proof, the parts you need will be cheaper by that time.
  9. Whilst they were good at the time, now incredibly old and I wouldn't risk it with an new system!
  10. It terms of quality, I would always recommend Corsair. The wattage is a good match for your system and also leaves room for any future upgrades. In your personal circumstance I would go for the Corsair, not only does it allow you to keep your RAM, but I would never recommend a used power supply.
  11. Nothing wrong with that. Decent brand, 80+ certification and warranty so you're good to go; just ensure that 500w is enough for your system, it most likely will be more than enough.
  12. Looking at your specs, I'd play it safe with 500/550w although 400w would probably do it. There is no real need for wattage higher than 550w, however you may want to go a little higher to leave some 'wiggle room' for upgrades. As long as you choose something with a brand name/model no. and any level of 80+ certification, all will be good.
  13. Generally speaking you will probably be okay, although you may have to re-seat the connector from time to time. Personally I try not to 'tug' too much on the GPU.
  14. 600w is more than enough as long as it is 80+ certified, I would be a little wary of its age though - pairing it with any new hardware. You could even go for a 500w, however it depends if you intend to upgrade or not, because you may end up buying a new PSU too.
  15. Having used several variants, Arctic Sliver is an old favourite - why change what works? No matter what you buy you will struggle to go wrong, if only for 5c-10c.
