    Monitor Advise

Evening Everyone. I have finally settled on a new monitor to purchase to replace my now old LG 43" one. I have found the 2 below, they almost have the same model no, but I am not able to find out which one is the best.... I would normally think the more expensive one is better, but I know that isnt always the case. Would someone who knows more about hardware take a look and let me know. (monitors really arnt my thing) use case will be for my PC, work hence the wide screen, and then for some Xbox x use in the evenings. 3. Thank you all - I am looking at the above 2 now. The MSI is looking like the best one as I get to keep the large screen size which I find great when it comes to using excel files etc.
  4. Hello All I am more of a software guy by trade, and my hardware skills are not so good. (its something I have never needed) I am looking to get a new PC monitor for my desk as I was given an XBOX X for Christmas. My current unit is an LG 34UC99-W which has served me well over the past 3 to 4 years. But when the new Xbox X is connected I assume it's not going to run at its full potential for graphics etc. So rather than a new TV, I am looking to get a new monitor. I use the monitor for work, and having a 34" unit is good for work, so if possible I don't want to go down in size. More than happy to go up if needed. (my PC connects via DP - I have a GTX 1070Ti) Now I need to get it from a company in the UK called ao.com as I have a warranty voucher from them it saves me dipping into my savings to buy this new monitor. As mentioned above my knowledge on Monitor hardware is limited, so the link below is to the Monitor section on ao.com and I would welcome feedback on which unit would be a good match for an Xbox while keeping good all-around functionality for when I am working. https://ao.com/l/monitors/1/250-257-258/?mmref=computing%7Cmonitors_projectors%7CMonitors%7C2_4_1 I Don't think I have missed anything, but if I have please comment below and I will reply. Don't really have a budget in mind, so more than happy to look at all options. Many Thanks
  5. Hello all Does anyone know if Anker does a power supply that will power and charge a HP Probook 430? The HP charger is huge as the laptop has a USBC charge port as well as a normal old school port I want to drop the HP brick and try and find something a little smaller that will fit in my work bag a little better. TIA
  6. Hello All So I am based in the UK which limits what I can buy and where from. My 10 year old Synology NAS has just failed. - All good things come to an end. So as I have the HDD, and I have a very new and high powered Dell server. I was wondering what you guys would advise for a replacement. I was looking to buy a MD3000 to connect to the server, but have then read you cant just dump any SATA HDD in them as the unit will only work with Dell branded disks. So kinda pointless for me. Based on that I am wondering what I can get that would be good price which is ready made either branded from another company, etc where I can connect this to the Dell Server via a external SAS connector, where I can present the disk to the server and away I go. Something like the NetApp - but while these are OK price in the UK the cable needed to connect a NetApp disk shelf to a server are stupid money. (just for the cable) so this kinda rules this option out for now. It maybe I end up getting another Synology box but before I do I wanted to see what else I can get for my money thats say ex enterprise kit. I have a full rack at home so space isnt an issue. Thank you for reading and I look forward to the comments.
  7. Hello All I have been looking to replace my old Synology NAS for a while and a friend has advised I take a look at NetApp units for a replacement. I have a Dell server which I would buy I assume an LSI Raid card for and connect the NetApp unit to the Dell server which will then be able to see the drives once configured. My issue is I am new to NetApp and from what I can tell they have 2 different systems as in the main controller unit, and an expansion shelf. What I don't want to do is buy an expansion shelf and then not be able to use it as I won't have a controller. I am based out of the UK so am looking to eBay UK to source my parts. I have found this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NetApp-DS2246-Disk-Array-SAS-24BAYx2-5-2xIOM6-Controllers-2xPSU-Caddies/352466659249 Now in the listing, its says it has 2 controllers, but what isn't clear is that if this an expansion shelf, or the main unit? The ideal system for my needs would be a unit that can take SATA drives 3.5 inch but I cant find that many of these at a good price. Anyway any help anyone can offer would be great. Thank you
  8. Hello All I am looking for a new monitor, and have kinda a strange requirement. I have been looking at the LG Ultrawide monitors, as I saw a video that would let you take 2 inputs and then display them on the monitor at the same time... After doing some research today, I found this is called lg dual controller, but it looks like it will only work when you install software on both PC's. My issue is one display will be from a PC, and the other, from my Nintendo Switch, so the switch I can't install the software, thus I am not sure if it will work as expected, or if the software is just so you can use the same mouse on both systems, and move files around. Which I don't need. So what I would like to ask is A) would this LG system work with the 2nd device been a switch B) if not, does anyone know any other ultrawide units that can display 2 inputs at the same time, side by side. Thank you.
