  1. I have the exact same issue as the OP it seems to be a texture streaming issue which I have no idea how to fix I've tried loading games onto a SSD but still no luck heres an example of me playing an OFFLINE game with video footage of the issue that I run into in damn near every game (obviously some more than others) In the below video I used MSI Afterburner to show all my CPUs/My GPU and a graph of when the spikes happen and what happen when they do. This happens in almost all of my games everything from Starbound to Rage 2 at completely random times. Keep in mind this is on a completely new computer all new parts freshly built that has only been put together for 2 months but my past PCs had the same issues. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfjMQowtMOk My setup is an Ryzen 7 2700x 3.8ghz (however in things like CPU Z both with Balanced and High End Performance its either in the 2.5-2.8 or the 4.1 range instead.) 1070 ti SC 16 GB Ram And I basically run everything at 1080p with the stock cooler that came with the Ryzen 7. Two of the biggest problem games currently are Rage 2 and CSGO and CSGo has always had this issue both with this new system I built about 2 months ago and my old i7 4790k 4.0ghz with a 1070 ti as well. Here is my internet Speed Test before that other person keeps claiming its my internet and I need to upgrade it. EDIT: Turns out I may have just figured out the problem myself. I swapped my DIMMS and set my profile to D.O.C.P. and after running Rage 2 I had no GPU drops just slowdown when loading a new area everything else ran perfect. Gonna test some other games as well and for the OP if you're still having this issue trying swapping your DIMMS and setting D.O.C.P if you use a AMD CPU and if you use Intel look for something called XMP profile instead.
  2. Correct sitting at 4.2 now and for some reason the games feel slower framerate wise but the computer is running more stable without the hitching.
  3. Sooo I sat down and thought about when this happened and it was right after a windows update like 5 days ago that this got truly bad. I went into my bios one more time today to check and realized something after booting CPUZ my CPU even on High Performance mode wasn't staying at the correct clock speed so in BIOs I went and changed the core clock speed to 42 syncing across all cores as well as reset all power plans in windows itself and since then the hitching and slowdowns are next to non existent and it hasn't passed 79 C this is after testing all of the past games mentioned above. I may have solved the issue and can save the money to get myself a new computer instead in a few months
  4. What are the temps I should be expecting with this sort of cooler?
  5. I see nothing called Crock Rock only something called Dark Rock TF is that what you meant?
  6. For the cooling I'd like to spend no more than $150 (with a bit of wiggle room possibly to go to $179) if possible and I'm kinda thinking of doing water cooling if possible. As for performance I'd just like to eliminate this hitching and half second freezing I'm getting from CPU heat spikes like the one pictured below. If I can keep the CPU down to 70 C at max when gaming I'd be very grateful as for my gaming I'm planning to stick with 1080p max settings on most game possibly upgrading to a 1440p monitor in the future. The below picture is from 4 hours of Dragon Quest 11.
  7. I don't believe I have any extra laying around I used the last up back in September.
  8. So I ran some test just playing a match of CSGO and my Temps came out to this. So I'm thinking this is definitely a cooler issue for sure now. Do you have any suggestions for a cooler around that size?
  9. Fairly sure this is my exact case https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA19P6YW2655
  10. Tried 1 & 3 and got only single channel again so I put it back to the dual with two sticks and now when looking in CPUZ my ram randomly spikes to 1299 or 3999 from 799MHz Whenever I minimize the CPUz window and pull it back up and move it around the ram MHz jumps all over the place I've seen 767, 1239, 1299 and 3999 to name a few UPDATE More weird stuff was happening so I went into BIOS and just set to default this caused hitching more so I went back in and used a ASUS Profile and the hitching is almost completely gone however now I'm hitting about 92 C on my CPU at times after using HWInfo64 to check. Oh and the RAM is back to normal according to CPUZ. I'm thinking about putting back in those other two sticks now because it might have just been a setting in my BIOs that was messed up from the looks of it and now its better even if it isn't 100% fixed and is causing CPU heat spikes. My current CPU cooler is a Arctic Alpine 11 Pro for reference and I'm starting to think it might be the butt of most my problems. And if this is the case what should I upgrade to?
  11. It makes me feel a bit better. Sadly after getting this setup and dual channel with just 16gb instead of 32gbs the hitching and freezing is back apparently only in Single Channel 16GB does it not happen.. I'm at the end of my rope and it looks like it might finally be time to update this MOBO, CPU, and Ram to something else because things are starting to become unplayable.
  12. UPDATE so I took all the ram out and put them into A2 and B2 and this time it booted up and its in dual channel according to CPUZ. I'm gonna run some test now to see how everything is but from the looks of it the whole 2 sticks not booting thing may have just been my own user error due to being too tired yesterday and I guess not having it fully pushed in when I tried originally. So I apologize if it turns out I wasted anyones time by putting up this topic. Now off to do some testing and I'll have my results and a final conclusion tomorrow.
  13. When I attempted earlier to put sticks into A2 and B2 it wouldn't even start because nothing was in the A1 slot I however will give it a try again.
  14. All four ram sticks are read showing all 32 GBs in Dual Channel as shown below but when I have two sticks plugged in if its slot 1/2/3 it only reads 1 and 2 and they are single channel but if I have 1 and 3 plugged in it only reads 1 stick from slot 1 again only in single channel. It boots with all four sticks with the freezing/hitching it however does not boot in slot 2/4 for two sticks and if I boot in slot 1/3 for two sticks it only reads one stick of ram in Single Channel and booting is slot 1/2 it reads two sticks but also in Single Channel. Bios is updated to latest non-beta bios as for Chipset how can I check which I am running? Windows is Windows 10 64bit. I've been getting this computer up and running used Geforce Experience to update GPU and its currently on latest drivers. As for DDU what would that be? Edits for random autocorrect issues sorry if it was originally hard to read.
  15. Firstly I'd like to say hello to everyone this is my first time writing here so thank you for hearing me out ahead of time. I'm currently running a i7 4790k Stock at 4.0Ghz Paired with a 1070 ti, and 32GBs of Kingston DDR3 Ram and a z97-a motherboard and I've been noticing random hitching in games like a slight freeze followed by a loss of anywhere from 5-15fps (sometimes even 20+ but rarely) this is after maintaining up to that point a near constant 60-144 (based on whatever game I'm playing at the time). I had been looking around at other people who have had the same issues such as staying above 60fps in Fortnite with Ultra settings in 1080p with my setup or same with Hitman 1/2 and some came to the conclusion that it might be a memory issue and upon looking into it and removing 2 of my 8GB Kingston DDR3 games it gave me a much much more stable feeling without the hitching however I lost a good chunk of FPS anywhere from 15-30 on some games but even in the lower 40s for games like Hitman it sill had less hitching and next to zero freezes I wasn't sure if this was something I should expect so I booted up CPU-Z to get a look at what was going on and turns out with two sticks of Ram it was only running in Single channel so I figured okay slot 1 and 2 must not be the correct one so I removed one slot from 2 and put in three and again it felt smoother but I had even more of a loss of framerate and upon inspection I found out it was because I was only running 1 8GB Stick and not the second one and yet again it was also in Single Channel mode (before you ask I tried slot 3 & 4 and slot 2 and 4 and neither worked at all the computer wouldn't even post with them setup like that.) So now here I am dealing with the hitching/freezing and low-ish FPS again with all 4 sticks back inside the computer and with that being the only way to set it to dual channel the freezing/hitching happens at any game settings so I'll see it on medium/high/Ultra and even low settings but it'll be less frequent while still happening. Please someone help me figure out what could be the issue I've always dealt with this since this computer was built originally about 5 years ago and since then I've swapped out harddrives, GPUs and fans originally thinking those might be the issue and to an extent it did help lessen it but the issue still remains and the gameplay hitching makes a 100-200fps game feel less stable than just playing something on console and its really getting quite annoying. Below are some examples of the dual 4 stick and the single 2 stick channel setup and how the games felt CSGO: Random half second hitches and overall less responsive with nearly double the FPS (Dual) CSGO: Smooth as butter no hitching or massive framerate dips. (Single) Fortnite: 100-144 fps feeling sluggish and when attempting to fast build at the most un-opportune time I'd get the random freezing or huge framerate drops (Dual) Fortnite: 80-130 fps feeling far more stable with less screen tearing and a greater response time even when dropping into the low 50s near end game with lots of build on screen. (Single) Hitman: Unable to maintain 60fps in high or ultra settings with V-sync off and even with it on still dropping to lower 50s and sometimes 40s (Dual) Hitman: Still unable to maintain 60fps even dropping to the 40s at times but the screen tearing without v-sync is minimal and the gameplay feels more fluid with less hitching and freezing (Single) Battlefield V: Drops to lower 50s with Ultra settings and for some random reason into the higher 40s in High settings with hitching when loading in and when in huge battles (Dual) Battlefield V: Drops again into the 40s but this time on Ultra settings and it felt better than it did with High settings in the Dual Channel 4 Stick setup I hope that the info I've provided can help us finally diagnose this issue if you need anymore please do tell me what and how to come back getting you this info and I'll do my best to do so. Thank you all again so very much in advance.
