  1. I've been looking for something to set up at my local arts centre as a media player/DMX controller/audio recorder, and this could be perfect. Throw in an m.2 SSD and a 1TB mechanical, 4 or 8GB RAM, then throw VLC, iTunes, Spotify, DMXcontrol, Freestyler, Ableton Live Lite, Audacity, probably even Steam on there (basic gaming on a 255" screen anyone?) and everybody is happy.
  2. They could have got around this "problem" really easily and cheaply by making a USB charging cable and throwing that in the box. Then people would definitely have a compatible charger. As it is, forcing new customers to have to fork out for a proprietary plug is not cool.
  3. Can't stress this enough, DON'T use AS5. The problem with silver is that it is conductive, so as soon as it gets in the wrong place, like across pins or contacts, it will transfrer voltage where it isn't meant to go. This means fried components. Get yourself some good non-conductive thermal paste like Noctua NT-H1, and never look at AS5 again.
  4. The EDG750 PSU, because I just found an old AMD mobo/CPU I forgot I had in a cupboard, and I haven't got a spare PSU to power it up.
  5. I've seen two theories on this naming choice: 1. Windows 8 was never supposed to be a full release. There was a lot of feeling at release that MS "rushed out" 8 and it wasn't a finished product. The finished product would have been Windows 9, but after the negativity that 8 attracted, they canned it and started again. Thus Windows 10 is born. 2. Windows 10 will be the last "numbered" release, and after this they will use Apple's incrimental update system (10.1, 10.2 etc.) Both make sense, but I'm inclined to believe the first one more.
  6. My problem is the yellow, as I'm planning on having the keys purple with white reactive, and it will clash horribly. That said, I'm just going to peel the sticker and make a new one, then leave the old one in the box in case it needs returning. It almost adds another thing to the "modding" ethos of the product.
  7. When you think about it, that's only monday after next. I might do the unthinkable at get mine from PC World  Edit: For all our North American cousins, that's the UK equivalent of Best Buy.
  8. Just in case anyone did click through and is worried about viruses, I wouldn't worry too much. These kind of scams are more focused on money than harm. Whoever created this has done it for affiliate cash from the survey, and probably from adware programmed or toolbars as well. If you did download anything and don't want to look like a noob for admitting it, programmed like adaware or malwarebytes will get rid of them easily.
  9. Email from Catzilla that just came through may have dismantled this idea.
  10. The exact cable you need is a Dual Link DVI-D cable. Copy/paste that into eBay, buy the cheapest one with free postage, and you should be fine.
  11. I'm guessing what you did is went into the BIOS, turned up the multiplier, and left the CPU core voltage set to auto. NEVER DO THIS. Go into the BIOS, turn the multiplier back down to 34, set the CPU core to 1.3v, save that, boot into windows and check it's ok, then go back to BIOS, turn up the multiplier one step at a time until it doesn't boot, then turn it back down one and you're done. Yes, this is a layman's guide to getting your overclock, but others will tell you what the maximum voltage is and such. 1.48 is far, far too much.
  12. For the tower option, seriously consider the Fractal Define R4 case. Loads of space, and soundproofed.
  13. You should stand where you do reviews, with the GoPro attached to you, then film Brandon doing the review behind the main camera. Just to subvert the usual Brandon filming you in the kitchen doing the review scenario.
  14. Logitech G700s. Loads of buttons, wireless and rechargable (wire plugs in the front, so can be used wired). Two sets of side buttons, so you can have back/forward on one set, and previous/next track on the second set.
