  1. Whenever I look for anyone's review, I don't really care about how he flaunt it to be good or bad ... I care more on the experience they said they have and compare it the experience that I expect out of the product (e.g how easy to use it, what might hold me back when using it, advantage over the other competitor's products) and for me, IMO, Linus has been very good at this... he try his best to tell his experience based on his usage unlike a lot of written review I read that just shoving specs to my face and that's it... After all, whatever Linus' said is his opinion to my ears not a hard fact that everyone has to accept.
  2. At first I want to say Watch Dogs, but then I remembered SimCity 2013. As bad as other games pre-ordered, I can still play at launch... SimCity? they went full retard... Maybe some would argue Diablo 3 does the same thing but at least Blizzard don't lie to their customers like EA/Maxis did at launch...
  3. I'm going to boycott all Ubisoft games after their fiasco except for Assassin's Creed series I'm too attached with the story already that I can't let it go even if it sucks...
  4. Ever since I played BF4, the water actually amazed me... it is 2014, AAA title and yet the water looks like... let's just say horrible... I want to be mad, but I can't... instead, it impressed me... sometimes I think I'm swimming in mercury instead of h2o...
  5. Check the version of the Visual Studio you're using whether it support Win8 or not (though I think it's safe to assume it support). Other than that, it's up to you... Some like it, some will not... personally, I can't recommend Windows 8 up until now even though I like it. edit: Drivers are fine with me, it was errors and shutdowns for me on customer preview as well but since it officially released to market everything is smooth for me...
  6. I think your keyboard keys are just too close together that you have to squeeze your hand to fit into it... I'd say get a separate keyboard/gaming keypad is much more comfortable and you can arrange the peripherals layout on your desk to suit your comfort better... I used to game on laptop as well but in the end I buy a gaming keypad (like a Razer Nostromo) for it so that I can place the keypad and mouse in much more comfortable ways for me to game on... and you will need to do some remapping since your keyboard layout is a little different... and I usually don't try to reach the N with my thumb... just let go the WASD and reach it properly to avoid strain... you're not looking for the direction while in the heat of battle anyway... but that's up to you, just my opinion... nothing wrong with reaching it with your thumb as well I guess since you probably not doing it too often anyway...
  7. To be honest, I dont really hate consoles excepts for those peasant who thinks their device is so much powerful bla bla bla bla and refuse to except any goodness of any side other than his... But it starts to become more annoying lately when watchdog thingy happens now that I wish consoles never exist... I want to game in 60FPS minimum, not 30... you think you are fine with 30fps? fine... your choice... you force me to accept 30fps? you probably deserve whatever thing you get from me... don't say I'm a jerk when you are the douchebag who forced me to do things the way you want...
  8. It won't be compatible, as if I recalled correctly, the 8core CPUs are Haswell-E and those usually use different socket than the motherboard you have. Since you already have a board, you might want to just run it with 4770K. The board actually is compatible with 4790K according to MSI (http://us.msi.com/product/mb/Z87G45_GAMING.html#support) but again, you probably need an original compatible CPU to update the BIOS before you can use 4790K. As far as I can recall, both CPUs doesn't differ that much thermally on stock standard settings but again, if you're not OCing why bother with K cpus right?
  9. You meant "Flaming Cliffs 3"? It's not exactly hardcore but more towards simple sim... Good to go if you're new to flight sim... But other modules (or DLCs) in DCS is pretty hardcore... Or maybe you want to try Falcon BMS as well if you're into those study simulator. But let me warning you, Flaming Cliffs 3 took me around 1 week of learning to at least fly properly, give a better fight to the AIs and land my fighter at the airstrip properly. Last time I tried Falcon 4.0: Allied Force (one iteration of the study sim Falcon 4.0 like Falcon BMS) took me 1 month only to fly and land and survive in the air while fighting still like a noob. The learning curves are very different due to the details they have in study sim like A10, Ka50, P51D Mustang in DCS and Falcon series.
  10. I used to build a PC with tons of fans, the noise level is... well... I didn't realize the PC is actually so loud and I rarely turn it off when I'm at home... once I turned it off one day, it felt so quiet... peaceful quiet... I guess wind noise doesn't bother me much but vibration noise does annoy me... the sound of the fan of my Seidon 240M at 60% is enough to kill me (though 60% doesn't really make the cpu cooler than running at 35% which is dead silent ) and the sound of the fan of my GTX680 at 50% is enough to make me stop playing any games....
  11. If you move that image to a new disks, the windows copy won't be activated. You will need to phone Microsoft for activation. That's what happened to me when I put the image on my new SSD from HDD. If I'm not mistaken, storage is one of the hardware listed that has activation limits upon changes. If you use it on the same disk, it will stay activated I guess.
  12. You will have no problem with your Steam library but I had problems with Origin and Uplay before (seriously, why they even exists <_< ) that I can't re-use old installation and it proceeds to download anyway... What I mean here, games that installed with Origin and Uplay. If the game is from Steam library it will always be fine even if it needs Origin or Uplay to be launched...
  13. It happened to me before too, especially in PayDay 2... I still don't know how it happen, but when it happen usually the game itself is skipping frames... I tend to say it's most probably due to writing to HDD but I could be wrong.... Put it into editing software, you might get audio sync problem... that's my major headache whenever I edit my videos...
  14. MRL

    what are good

If you are not a fan of ssslllloooowwwwww grinding process, avoid PayDay 2.... It is definitely a better experience if you have friends to play (seriously, that's how it is supposed to be played; Co-Op) but it still is a slow grind...
  15. my IQ dipped below retarded value by just watching that video...
  16. Real life usage... That's why I always look forward to Linus' reviews... His reviews tends to cross with my daily usage of stuff... and humor as well... I dont really care if all he talks is pros about a product and be bias all the way to the roof but if the pros in his eyes are cons in my eyes, I still like the review just because he mentions it...
  17. I switched from Chrome to Opera as well after my Chrome has tons of rendering issue (probably the skin causing it) and the memory leak. Though so far, I can say the only reason I use Opera is because it's not IE, Chrome or Firefox... tempted to try Maxthon but still looking for right time to do so... moving to Opera costed me a little bit in setup time (Opera Link.... duuhhhh) so I don't want to face same sync thing again...
  18. I tried in OS mode once before on my Z87-GD65 and it semi-bricked, well because it has dual BIOS so I can switch to the 2nd one and recover for the first one. It ain't easy. So, M-Flash can brick your board as well? Good to know so I should avoid them in the future...
  19. I think, if my GPU with 3 TFlops of processing power will run the game just as good as it is on 1.84 TFlops hardware I would call the statement is BS as well... probably that number alone doesn't matter much, but I'm just trying to show one example how that statement is bad. Basically, what that statement means is either that game will not utilize 100% of current PC capability or that game will be so unoptimized that it needs double the processing power on PC... if it's the first case, I surely want to see the game running at 120FPS on my system... but so far with Ubisoft, it has always been the later....
  20. Looks like we have discovered new bug of Win8.1 Update 1????
  21. are you using Win8.1 Pro? I had that once and somehow Windows calculated the usage wrong. I've check every hook and cranny, calculated all process usage manually and proved my system really only using 2.5GB of memory while Windows reported 7.5GB... I dont know where does that extra 5GB comes from... restarts does fix the calculation again...
  22. if sound is what it's all about, then you better off buying new souncard/DAC/headphones... I know there might be improvements from board to board (e.g Asus P8V77V-LK has worst on-board audio that I've encountered recently that even cheap Asus Xonar DGX is much better. Changing to MSI Z87-GD65 now and my Asus sound card is rarely used) but upgrading a motherboard for it's sound isn't smart...
  23. I never turn it off unless I'm not gonna use it for more than 8 hours (e.g work). I just like the idea of having it there ready to serve me whenever I want when I'm at home. When I came back from work, I got wifi signal right in front of the door and send WOL packet from my phone, and my PC is ready to serve me. And yes, I pay my own bills.
