  1. As an extension to the main topic of this post: I'm looking for a rackmount chassis that has a lot of hard drive bays for my PC, which is basically a server at this point, and I'd like to rackmount it. I'm looking for a case that has hot-swappable bays. like that old Rosewill chassis that they stopped making. I have done some research but all the ones I've found have been in the US and not the UK, meaning the price would be three times higher just because of the postage. I've found some on Amazon UK, and they're rackmount with a lot of bays, but they're not hot-swappable.

As an extension to the main topic of this, since I'm not sure it's worth creating a new thread for essentially the same topic, I'm looking for a rackmount chassis that has a lot of hard drive bays for my PC, which is basically a server at this point, and I'd like to rackmount it. 3. I'm doing it because I've noticed a bunch of MP4 files are getting corrupted on my disk for no apparent reason and I saw a Techquickie video that I think said that MKV files don't corrupt or something.
  4. I've got a lot of MP4 files on my computer, and I want to convert them into MKV files. I have a program to do this, but when I start the encoding process, my fans (not sure whether it's the case fan or CPU cooler) starts spinning up and going crazy. My CPU temps also spike from 30-50C to 70-80C. Is there something that could be causing this? It's usually a quiet(ish) PC (or it was until I put a WD 8TB in it, but this noise far trumps that of the new drive). EDIT: I'm very new to video encoding so I know nothing about what should be happening. Sorry if this was kind of a basic question.
  5. I have a desktop that sits under my desk, and it has a HDD in it with all my data on it, apart from the OS. My computer tower gets bumped occasionally when I'm getting out from under my desk, and I know that vibration is bad for hard drives. So, I wanted to know whether this would have any immediate negative effects on my hard drive, or just shorten its lifespan, but not by a noticeable amount of time.
  6. I was thinking of getting a NAS so I could leave it at home while I use my PC elsewhere and access the files off that. I would also like to be able to have the most space possible out of the drives in the system; what type of RAID would be recommended for such a use case? I know that RAID 0: N RAID 1: N-1 RAID 5: N-1 RAID 6: N-2 RAID 10: N/2 but I have also read that RAID 5 is very unstable and should not be used. I also know that RAID 0 has no parity and no redundancy, so does this mean that in the event of a drive failure, I lose all my data like I would if I lost more than 1 drive from a RAID 5 array? Which would be the most stable RAID configuration for a general storage use case?
  7. I had plans to build a NAS from a cheap PC, but I don't really have the room right now. I wish I had the room/transport methods to do that, because I desperately need more storage. 2TB fills up very fast when you use the same drive for programs and documents, and cloud drives. Also, what's the difference between DAS and NAS? Do I have to use RAID for a DAS setup? And can I use NAS drives in a DAS?
  8. I have a CoolerMaster MasterBox Lite 5 tower, and it has a spec that says it has one SSD rack and two combo bays. I have now filled up all these slots, but am in need of more storage, and I would like to expand with another drive, as I still want to use the current hard drive that's in the tower. Does anybody know how I can expand the number of drive bays, and where I can buy the bays with the locking mechanism that you squeeze to release from the chassis? The case came with two, but I would like another one to add more drives and I can't seem to find them anywhere. If this isn't possible, does anyone know how I could go about installing another hard drive? Additionally, all my drives are Seagate drives, but I have read reviews online that say that Seagate drives are now shingled and are only suitable for backup as you get less storage due to the overlapping platters. Is it still advisable to go with Seagate, or choose another manufacturer such as Western Digital?
  9. Thanks, that's what I figured. That's good. I have space for an extra drive then.
  10. The case is a CoolerMaster MasterBox Lite 5
  11. So that's 3 drive bays in total, right? If I have one SSD and one HDD already in there, I have one extra slot for another drive? Sorry if I sound dumb.
  12. If a specification for a PC case has the following specification, what does that mean? Does it mean it has 3 drive bays, one of which is an SSD, or that it has 2, and one of those 2 is an SSD drive bay? I'm looking to install a new drive on my system so that I can dual boot my system with Ubuntu, but I need both OSes to be on the same type of drive, that is, either Legacy or UEFI. 2.5" / 3.5" DRIVE BAYS (COMBO) : 2 DRIVE BAYS - SSD : 1
  13. I have looked at the README, and the second keyboard doesn't register normal typing, which is what I want. However, when I run the AHK script, this also happens on my primary board. The functions in the AHK file only work while the script is running (obviously). Also, not sure if this is supposed to happen, but it only blocks normal typing when LM is open.
  14. I'm following Taran's tutorial on setting up a second keyboard, and I've got the second keyboard to execute all the functions that I need, so I'm assuming that part of it works. However, my primary keyboard also executes these functions, meaning I essentially have two macro keyboards. How can I "disconnect" my primary keyboard from LUAMACROS so that only one of them registers the hotkeys that I have set up inside of AutoHotKey and LUAMACROS?
