  1. Browser, version and OS: Firefox 73, W10 64 Pro Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened? Just browsing as normal. What happened? I was checking my downloads folder to clear out some old junk and found dozens of files labeled spacer.png, spacer(1).png and so forth... I checked the downloads manager within the browser and found that all of these had originated from LTT forums. I have NEVER once downloaded anything. I don't click on random links posted What did you expect to happen? I sure as hell don't expect unwanted and unauthorised downloads to be forced onto my system from anywhere. I would like an explanation as to what the hell is going on?
  2. I haven't surrendered my movies, music or anything else really... I certainly won't be doing the same with anything else I 'OWN'... I buy things I want... I refuse to cave in to this ridiculous notion that you can no longer own anything.
  3. Try the AOC 27G1G4 it's a 27" 1080p 144hz curved monitor... It's not HDR but it's decent enough and well within your budget. It's currently on UK amazon for £211 but has been as alow as £165during sales. It also comes with both HDMI and Display port cables in the box.

  5. Nope... didn't survive reading that... gave up after a couple of paragraphs. The point of doing the vids is to create revenue... whether that's from direct advertising or sponsorship doesn't matter... What matters is that their current way of trying to earn revenue is annoying to a great deal of people... and that's bad for business. Because of thee clickbait and deceptive titles and trolling thumbnails... there's no way I'm going to support them by suffering through ads, or clicking sponsor links. It actually has the effect of pushing me AWAY from those sponsors and towards alternatives (if it's something I'm actually in the market for)... and those sponsor payments... kinda push up the prices of the products in question which pushes people towards cheaper alternatives that are just as good. All I'm saying is that the way they do things, doesn't make me want to spend money on ltt merch or on anything from any of their sponsors... the quality of their vids has decreased dramatically (in terms of content, not production values) and I get the feeling that they've over reached drastically with excessive purchases like red cameras and an expanding staff count... They're producing very little in the way of decent content that appeals to me any more. It's not gonna make me consider using floatplane at all... I'll watch the odd video if I can be bothered but I actively avoid certain 'presenters' who I find annoying and childish... Give us more of the good ones who actually know what they're talking about and less of the kids who've been given access to the grown ups stuff and are simply playing at being grown ups... because that's how it feels with a lot of them... and I don't want to mention specific names as that would be unfair. Some one I find irritating may be another's first choice. I can't help but feel they've stretched themselves far too thinly and things could come crashing down around them rather quickly and they won't be able to cope financially if sponsors and ad revenue slow down just a small amount.
  6. I've still got 2 VHS players and a DVD player in a box complete with scart leads, rca leads and digital coaxial leads... I actually kinda miss my old PC with a soundblaster card that had digital coaxial outputs rather than spdif (opitcal) as the coaxial leads were so thick and chunky, would stand up to any punishment, whilst spdif ones seem so flimsy and breakable.
  7. OK, the first one is S-Video to Component (video and audio/RCA), the second one is a molex to sata power adapter and the last also looks like an s-video to component (RCA video only) As for the rest 4: S-video to component adapter (RCA) 5: Molex to PCIe for a gpu 6: IDE lead (old style HDD) 7 USB & mini Fire wire, would slot into one of the spaces on the back of the case.
  8. The greatest thing about the internet is that it gives everyone a voice.... The WORST thing about the internet... is that IT GIVES EVERYONE A VOICE!!! When it allows unmetered hate and bile to be spewed out across the world, it's a problem... When it allows discourse and collaboration, sharing and helping each other... it's great. The problem is that it's equal parts of both right now and these tech companies are simply not doing enough to stop the bad and promote the good... they created this monster and are refusing to deal with it... So some one needs too... Legislation is the right way to do that, but it can't be toothless and it can't be vague and open to loopholes and get out clauses... it also needs to be so harsh that flouting it isn't profitable for these companies.... that flouting it cost them more than it can make through advertising and theft of private data. Will that happen with these UK laws... not a fucking chance. It's all populist bullshit designed to appease the dumbed down masses who believe what they are force fed. So what's the solution... I don't have a fucking clue. I am not smart enough to figure it out... But I do know that there isn't a politician out there capable of doing what's right and what's actually needed. they only care about their own power and enrichment.
  9. A person can be smart.... but people in groups generally dumb down to the lowest common denominator.
  10. Actually the old Iron Triangle addage applies with a little tweaking... You can have it cheap, safe and good... pick 2.
  11. I've been doing this since I was a little kid and pulled apart my scalextrix cars to see how they worked... At some point I probably pulled apart most of my toys when they broke to try and fix them... and often succeeded unless it was broken beyond repair. To this day in my early 40's... I still pull crap apart... I've got 2 old tablets that were broken due to a faulty charging cable awaiting dismantling and then destruction... because they're old and have personal data on and can't be wiped due to said faults from faulty charger. I modified those scalextrix cars to add lights... before they were even a thing... made them a little slower due to current and no LED's back then... But it was fun and my first messy experience with soldering. I had to create and manually wire up a special sized plug for the rear of the satnav dvd drive on my car to allow for a reversing camera to be installed.... bloody thing works too.
  12. It's a little bit of a hit and miss.... but normally if the spec is up to or greater than 128GB... it should take larger cards... but isn't guaranteed. It's more of an issue with lower capacities... where the specs are much lower and simply can't handle it. My dash cam for example is only rated for 32GB, but has a 64GB card in it... my old phone from 8yrs or so ago was only rated for 32GB and refused to accept anything larger. My current phone has 128GB onboard and can take up to 512gb more... but it's just got my other 64GB added for extra music storage.
  13. Not a rookie mistake... as a seasoned system builder of 20yrs... I never new this was even a thing on some boards until I ran into the exact same issue a year ago... It's conveniently left out of all the marketing info and you really have to dig into the manual to find this very important piece of information. I can honestly say that if I had been given this info... it WOULD have affected my purchasing choice entirely. To me it's deliberately misleading and nothing more than a pathetic bait and switch... advertise a board with 6 sata ports and 2 M.2... but utterly fail to inform the buyer that you can't use them all together. That kind of deliberate and misleading advertising should be made criminal. As a result... I'll never be buying a gigabyte board ever again... and now I also know to beware of asus... I shall be doing my research more thoroughly and contacting manufacturers directly to ask questions like this before I ever buy anything again... It's unacceptable and deceptive behaviour.
  14. I've actually run out of room on the MB for more drives... it's an old Asus M5 AM3+ board and only has 6 sata slots and 2 PCI-E... one of which is taken up with the GPU and the other with a USB3 expansion card for the front USB3 ports (no onboard USB header)... I've even had to unplug the BDRom at the moment. If I removed the USB3 card, I could put a SATA expansion card in there and had some more drives.... but I'd also need to replace some of the modular cables with molex connectors for sata ones as I'm already using all of them. But I do need to rebuild it soon as it's still running windows 7... and I'd rather go Ryzen 3900X, X570 on my gaming rig and retask my current 2600x B450 for that system... At least them I'd have plenty of PCI-E expansion ports for an extra SATA card... I could then add smaller drives as that's what's holding me back right now... the cost of large capacity HDD's... I've currently got 2x 6TB and 1x 8TB Purples and 2x 4TB WD desktop class as well as a 250GB SSD. I was considering buying a couple of these Because they're so much cheaper than a normal 8TB drive, and I can simply pull the drives from them... £125 per 8TB vs £160 for a basic desktop class... and it's rare to find them that cheap.. they're normally £20-30 higher... and haven't dropped in years.
  15. When it comes to chicken... there's only really KFC in my country... occasionally you'll get a local take out that does it but it's very hit and miss. So I'd 'have' to vote KFC... but can't.
  16. I used to replace my phones every 4yrs... or when they kinda broke. That gap has been getting shorter for a couple of reasons. A lack of security patches from manufacturers Obsolete tech, apps that will no longer work on older OS versions unable to repair/replace due to excessive costs and glued in parts My mum needs an upgrade So since the advent of smart phones... I first had a Sony Ericsson P990i as my first touchscreen phone back in about 2006-2007. In 2010 (or early 2011) I got the HTC Desire HD, and in 2014 or 2015 I replaced that with the Wileyfox Storm after a few months trying to use the Moto G2 and it being some what lacking in power/memory for what I wanted/needed. In early 2018 due to battery bloating I got the Moto G5S+ and a few months later repaired the Wileyfox storm and gave it to my mum (who'd had the old Moto G2)... and in Jan this year after I noticed she's been struggling and getting annoyed with the Wileyfox phone (lack of fingerprint sensor, and her slowness in doing tasks meant screen kept turning off mid use and needing a pin to unlock).... I decided to upgrade mine and give her the G5S+.... So we're down to 2yrs... I didn't 'need' to replace my phone... But at the same time I know my mum doesn't really have the desire or need to spend money on a replacement... and she's happy to let me give her my old ones.... and I do give them to her, she's not buying my old ones even though I could sell them for a decent amount. I have a rule that my phones need to be higher end budget range ones... and at a reduced price. So my budget is around £200 and I don't do contracts... Sim only tariffs... and I currently pay £10 a month for unlimited calls/txts and 7GB data. I'm connected to wifi 90% of the time and have never once used up all of my data... Not even close. My Moto One was £270 on release last year and I paid £209. I did consider the Moto G7/G8 as I like the near vanilla android experience they offer... But the One Vision had dropped into my price range too and had better specs, more ram and much more storage and there's a 3yr guarantee of security updates and 2 OS upgrades... It's just been updated to android 10. I imagine I'll replace it again in 2yrs and give this one to my mum... unless hers breaks/fails in some way and she needs a replacement quicker... in which case I'll get her to purchase something like the G7.
  17. OK, so I've been researching this for the last 36hrs and had come up blank... But after going through several more search pages of useless links. I found this. https://support.google.com/androidauto/answer/9468382?hl=en&ref_topic=6347951 Which basically says that from android 10, auto is a built in app... and those upgrading need to make sure it's installed before hand... which it was and the 'icon' would be carried over.... Which it wasn't. It then tells you that there's a separate app available simply to allow you to open the app from an icon you can place on your home screen. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.projection.gearhead.phonescreen Whoever decided that was a good idea is a 'cucking funt'... hiding apps and making you install a second app just to be able to open it... moronic doesn't even come close.
  18. I replaced my phone a month ago, got the Motorola One Vision and it's been pretty good. I use Android Auto quite a bit when driving... but over the weekend, a new update for my phone became available... from android 9 to 10. Since updating, I've had a few annoyances... like the 'at a glance' feature on the home screen that cannot be removed at all (read a lot about others who are pissed off at this)... But the most annoying thing is that android auto... which is still installed. Has been removed from the apps list. So there's no way to actually launch it. This appears to be intentional from what I can tell... But info seems to be sketchy so I can't 100% confirm it. Has anyone else noticed this... is there a way to fix it? All I need is a shortcut to it on my home screen... but there's no way to get it because it's hidden from the app list.
  19. The only downside to the intellimouse is the low 400dpi that make it no good for decent gaming these days. You have to move the damn thing so much to cover modern sized screen res and it's very picky about the surface it's sitting on.
  20. I still have a microsoft media keyboard version 1.0A that I've owned for about 18yrs and is still in use... and last year I gave my mum my old microsoft 5 button intellimouse from around the same time as hers broke. MS used to make solid gear... but the wireless versions of both of those that my mum bought about 5-6yrs ago were utter garbage.
  21. Well.. you've made my 30TB seem insignificant now. The case will take 12 drives but the GPU obscure 2-3 of them and I've got 6 plus a bdrom installed.
  22. I'm thinking about rebuilding my mediaserver in the GD08 at the moment... because I'm still running windows 7 on it. Last rebuilt about 6-7yrs ago... so it's time... and a new MB would give me some extra SATA ports for more storage.
  23. Don't forget to factor in any delivery charges too.
  24. Possibly... but it's well within a margin of error for ambient temps too. Could be that the new PSU runs a little cooler and is more efficient... but without accurate measuring it's impossible to say for sure.
