$200 for this case. Actually not bad from what I've seen, but too rich for my blood.

Dune has been doing knockoff Apple stuff since the 2nd gen Mac Pro, shame they missed the one that would make them the most money, the OG Mac Pro. If this one catches on I may buy one later though.

I'm a Last Pass user, not worried at all about this. If someone is managing to pull data from my computer's RAM, I got bigger problems to deal with then that they might get my Last Pass master password!

    I rate this a 0.5/10 security threat.

I deal with Apple fans by replacing them with Corsair maglevs. No thermal throttling for me, thanks.

Absolutely. There's followers of any brand that just won't listen to any arguments. Don't waste your breath.

the moment you used the term isheep you have made a logical fallacy called ad hominen. attacking someone's character in order to dismiss their arguments' value.

you are assuming the opposite party isnt capable of free will, only follow the trend, hence sheep. the more appropriate term would be simply apple user, or an apple user who's not tech savvy. if someone isnt listening, or just dismiss your arguments like hot air, just ignore them. they dont want to talk to you, or too embarassed to be point out their irrational loyalty to certain brand.

im a apple hater myself, ive never purchased any apple product, new or second hand. and i too will admit things that apple done right. like android tablet is a joke right now, ipad makes more sense.

But you just answered your own question in the title. Those people that dismiss every brand are the sheep. You can sheer a sheep, but you can never have it stop following you. What I mean is, they will never back down from it, they love it that much. It doesn't matter who's right or wrong here, but rather who can admit when a particular use case will see better use of one over the other. Don't get yourself trapped in arguments like that. Just like politics, no matter what facts you may have, you'll always be wrong. Just walk away while you can.

I have been able to virtualize Mac OS too, but in an enterprise environment, it's very fiddly and fragile and I can't have fiddly and fragile, unless I want angry users complaining.

I was shopping around for a new laptop, but my new job issued me a 15 inch 2018 Macbook Pro, with i7 and 16 Go of RAM.

    I love it.

I'm a programmer and since it's a work computer, most of what I do is work on it and I love my Mac and Mac OS for that. It's super smooth, I find it very intuitive and multitasking is super easy. It runs all the programs I need, has some extra because a lot of programmers seem to prefer Mac OS too and runs the tools I need it to run, some Windows can't run cleanly.

Though I adore Linux, I describe Mac OS as "the best linux" since it strikes a great balance between the user-friendliness and ubiquity of Windows and the raw power of Linux. Sure it's locked down and silly sometimes, but a poweruser will open a command prompt and do whatever he wants. Then, when work is off, it's a good machine for regular tasks like writing and media consumption and though, no, it's no competitive machine, I can do a bit of gaming just fine. (I have a dedicated gaming rig running Windows for serious gaming anyway.) Half my 500 ish item Steam library runs on Mac, so I can play Minecraft, Kerbal Space Program and strategy games just fine. I even ran Hitman on it at medium graphics just fine.

I like the format, I like the battery life, I like the decision of putting USB-C as the only connector, I like the accessories (I have my laptop and accessories in a Bookbook case and its gorgeous.) I'm also in the category of people who happen to like the new butterfly keys.

Mac OS is a very good UNIX OS which pleases me as a developer and as a user who just wants things to work from time-to-time and who does a bit of light gaming in his pauses and on the go, then goes home to his big gaming machine for serious gaming. I much prefer developing on MacOS and Linux than I do Windows. I'd ditch Windows if it was not for gaming.

Though I have it easy. I didn't pay for it, my company did. That's a 5000$ CAD bill I didn't have to pay. I was personally ready to pay that price, but I do agree that macbooks are at least 500$ overpriced. You do get an excellent machine, but there is a definitive "apple tax". For work reasons, I also hate how Mac OS cannot be virtualized, but that is a story for another time.

tl;dr My work issued macbook pro does everything I need it to comfortably and that's why I love it

Portable is (or maybe was) where it's at. I still see people use the 2012 Macbook Air all the time. That generation of Macbook was SUPER well made... much better than the 2016 onwards stuff. I don't see people using Windows ultrabooks from 2012 very frequently

I use macOS, and I'd argue that software support is fine.
    Not everyone plays games.
You're contradicting yourself and frankly not even making a valid point.
This has nothing to do with the OS.
Again, this has nothing to do with macOS being bad.
    That's subjective.

This is one of the worst threads I've ever seen on this forum. And have you ever used macOS? Because it seems like you're just making things up out of thin air.

I said this in another thread, and I think it's suited here too.

So long as you play by apples rules, and use their devices the way they intend for them to be used, it is a damned near flawless system. iOS is beautiful so long as you don't ask too much of it, macOS is genuinely years ahead of windows in terms of management and stability (as I write this i am dealing with one of my devices BSOD boot looping once before booting and being stable. This happened randomly with no correlation to updates/hardware changes. Never seen a KP in my life on macOS.), and the integration between all devices is better than Windows will ever be, even when MS had the chance to take the cake with Windows Mobile. It was so damned close!

I would probably invest in it a hell of a lot more if:

The Macbook Pro would stay cool (since I would bootcamp to windows and game with an EGPU, macOS for school.)
iOS was usable for any length of time before wanting to throw an iPhone into the nearest pit to hell. I could even overlook the need for a "Random crap" folder (since I also need one for my Note 8 ) if I could atleast sort my applications with empty tiles!

Those are my two big issues. There is certianly an "Apple tax", but it's not as much as it once was or is made out to be, and I would be more than willing to pay it. I don't really use apps outside the G Play store, nor do I need anything that doesn't exist on iOS. Hell, some usecases (and ones I have often) work better on macOS, like Carbon Copy Cloner being far superior to anything on Windows, FCP for editing, Logic X... So on.

As for your points regarding security. Apple is really no better than google. Seriously. Apple, though they may collect more info, may actually more secure now than Google is.

Default apps... yeah, I don't know how apple has gotten away with it.

The price premium for app devs is under scrutiny as I write, and will likely hopefully be changed soon.

The settings app... Don't remind me, I spent about an hour trying to figure out how to set a simple setting because it was buried in the most non-sensible place ever. I don't remember exactly what it was, but it was something really stupid. But if I used iOS more regularly I would likely get used to it. Android's storage management has gotten worse over the years (atleast in the Samsung Experience UI. Haven't used a different phone in a while), and it is slowly pushing me away.

That's all your points touched, in my own opinion of course. I hope this thread doesnt derail into apple fanboys bitching at you. You put lots of thought into your post.

Throwing out the touchbar - or even just making additional versions without it - probably won't happen, right?
IMO that could pave the way for bigger battery / better cooling, also then they could go back to the old keyboards.

I don't know what switches the magic keyboard uses but I'd even prefer the switch + keycap combination that the magic keyboard has.

It could happen depending on whether this is a redesign or just a larger version of the current design.  If it's a redesign, it's a chance for Apple to reevaluate everything, including the Touch Bar, keyboard switches, expansion...

As for the Magic Keyboard... I'm typing on one right now, and I think it's still using scissor switches, though they're definitely not wobbly.  It'd be amazing to have these keys on a MacBook Pro.
