  1. Vega's poor scaling happens past 1GHz, and you're talking about desktop add-in cards which released with ridiculous stock voltages.
  2. So my father and I have been scrounging USB thumb drives, external drives and SD cards plus old laptop hard drives around the house since my mother passed away in September and I've introduced him to the idea to buy a NAS mainly for: · Photo and video archival. · Time machine backups. I have a 2011 iMac for work use which is getting RAID 0 SSDs and my dad uses to check his work's email, check the news, look up recipes... I normally use a 2016 MacBook Air and we have a Mac Mini that's not getting any use so we're parting with it once I rescue all the photo and video files it has) · 4K HDR playback because we're replacing our broken LG tv finally. I've been fiddling with Plex these past weeks and I think it is a very simple solution for music and video playback to our iPhones, I'd like to have the option to use it with our new tv too. With this said, we're looking for something that isn't really in the way since it will sit close to our router (kind of obvious) and TV, probably in the console next to them; easy to install, set up and use; that will stay idle most of the time. I've glanced at the big names like WD, Synology, QNAP but I'm a bit lost so any suggestions are welcome!
  3. It feels that Apple is having a "UI identity crisis" since iOS 8 doesn't it? For some reason I look at iOS 11 and, while animations and design look rather nice, sometimes I feel stuff's just not in its place; or a particular thing is all over the place (menus inside Settings particularly). The fact that there's no choice between native dark or light/clear themes from the get-go in the iPhone X strikes me as a huge oversight.
  4. I would love to see this making a comeback, I'd get a Silverstone FT05 for one of these in a blink.
  5. Quick thought after seeing the ITX board: Why haven't they moved to SO-DIMMs?
  6. Did you see the keynote? The people that went onstage for the demos? If that's not targetting professionals...
  7. Well a ton of new jobs for classic games opened a while ago, so no wonder they're fixing stuff, ironing bugs out and bringing it to newer platforms; they're most probably paving the way for the remakes :_
  8. Well the post never mentions they're working on their own product right now, it's more a "we're working on *the thing*" situation.
  9. You are asking people to "1) See Europe" where surveillance is already a thing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  10. There, fixed. The thing is battery capacity across different mobile OS cannot be compared, and when it comes to Apple, you're not paying just for the hardware.
  11. That it retains the ability to install an OS on it instead of just destroying the data.
  12. I forgot to mention the drive has to be bootable after the procedure!
  13. So just installing a copy of Ubuntu a bunch of times will be enough?
  14. I'm selling my old hardware, a system with a single HDD running Ubuntu MATE 15.10 and I don't really know how I could wipe it so the next person who uses it can't undelete stuff via photorec or any forensic software. Everything is already backed up to an external drive. Maybe live booting TAILS has tools for such a task? Any other good practice tips before handing the hardware to the buyer?
