Naaah.I can forget about gaming, twice happened again even when lowered settings to medium. Should I test GPU with mats and mods?

Just played game for like 1.5 h no issues. How it is possible that even if it is hardwware issue (mosfet, failed ram memory chip) thay freezing sometimes it happens sometimes it does not? I wish it could be just something else but doubt it.

Is not harmful for GPU to undervolt it? It could work unstable? I will not damage it? The only thing I can do is to take it to local repair shop, but guy who does from his experience for many many years told me that cleaning and repasting would probably not help, freezing in games is a bad sign of a damaged gpu card which in my case is not socketed.

And it happened again...twice. Second time it happened in a change of game scene. I guess as you said I will have to find tutorial to undervolt.

Last night I played game for a like an hour, no freezing luckly. It is strange that happens sporadically.

These are temps only 15 min while gameplay...and I do have cooling pad under laptop (5 fans).

I asked previous owner he did not change the paste, but he is a second owner. Are you sure that replacing thermal paste would solve the issue?

Any tutorial on how to undervolt both? I have 2 power bricks and the issue is happening with both. So, what should I do, to resolve the issue?

Yeah but gpu temp is not high, it goes high as 76 C max..I don't think that is high foe 980M. I will post error message later. Repasting, dunno if it's done or not. I read this freezing is common for this model, lots of threads on internet, guys tried all possible things even repasting.

Hi guys. I own Alienware 17 r3 6820HK GTX 980M. I purchased it recently tried some gaming (Rise of the Tomb Raider, Serious Sam) and after 10-15.min games freeze, but I could hear audio from game. Now I am not yet at home, but when it happens I do get separate window error message and will post it later. Then again there are moments when I could play for like an hour and no errors. From my experience reading about this issue, this means my GPU is dying, correct? I installed most recent nVidia drivers. Temp of GPU while gaming is max 76 C, but usually around 72 C depending on load.

Sorr guys, I forgot to connect it to the wifi. I guess I will have to leave it over night.

I think better option would be to find a program which displays all running services and find one which is causing writing to SSD, don't you agree?

Ok, here is the pic just after connecting to wi-fi. Actually there is a program called GlassWire, which could help me....just found its tutorial in Computer Actvie mag. Sorry for me, beeing stubborn, or looking like I don't want help from others...actually I know how each one of my PCs and laptops breath, constant blinking of HDD led not single one has except this Alienware.

Good one...probably it is my OCD. I have like dozen of laptops, neither on each of them I saw HDD led constantly blinking (activity).So smth is causing it. And I am at all in front of laptop.

That would be too complicated since it is writing to system partition and too many folders ane files there. Is there a way to see what proccess is writing to disk and how much and totally how much while online? I bet if I leave it online for like 24 h it would take a lot of free space I bet probably more then 10 GB. For sure it aint malware scanned reinstalled...

You think so? So what do you suggest me to do? Turn on the laptop write free space, leave it 24 h, write free space, reboot, write free space?

It is taking my free space significattly. Yesterday it took 3 gb of space for 2 h and conetinues to shrink free space. I want to know what is it since I know it is not normal.

I made it okay. I was so tired back then when making. I made a mistake enabling in Monitoring tab in OSD. I needed just to checkmark all that not to Enable in OSD. Now all works okay, though fan speed is missing and showing Only %.

Hi guys. First time I succeeded to make something like in the video link following video. Then I reinstalled Windows and I remember copied 2 files in each of MSI AB and RivaTuner folders. Dunno if that matters but worth to mention. Then I followed exact steps like in the video from the link below,but I get an issue like in pic below (2 overlays stacked ), which I don't want. What am I doing wrong? I just want the overlay like from yt link below.
