  1. Thank you very much for the idea, if i run into issues i will try that
  2. Looks like i am not the only moron to do this, find the exact files i needed on another forum, hopefully this is fine as they are only shortcuts and such so i in theory should be fine for now, thank you very much for the replies tho everyone that responded to my problem
  3. Yeah that is what i did because somehow my windows got corrupted yesterday and i had to stay up all nigh in ubuntu live session to be able to get my stuff back
  4. If i do a reinstall is there a way to keep the kind of stuff that is in programs and features without needing to reinstall those? i don't mind reinstalling some but the programs seems to be working fine just some useful stuff is missing
  5. No i was going to after i finished this, just 10 minutes away from doing that when i screwed up
  6. So i was cleaning up after an install and i was really dumb and deleted a folder that was, i am pretty sure, called windows somewhere in appdata and it contained the startup folder and now i am missing many system shortcuts ex: this pc, my browser shortcut, control panel and probably many others those are just the ones that come to mind fast, i tried recovering them with recuva but those files are so small they already got overwritten in some parts and recuva dosen't even know where some of them should go, any way to fix this clean outside of another windows reinstall? maybe a repair from the install usb? edit: the path was: C:\Users\serba\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\ pinning a folder back pointed me back there
  7. hmmmm...that would not be nice to look for ill admit cuz i have no idea what it could be
  8. tried that long ago, it's a laptop if that has any relevance, plugged in or on battery the same
  9. That is why narrdarr suggested smart close above, did not do it for me
  10. it's not the startup, it's only the shutdown and restart taking long, you know before booting
  11. Still taking just as long, the sfc scan did report a corrupt file but from a quick glance i think is just the fact that i replaced some icons long ago
