  1. Nm, was the entire mono giving up the ghost.... anytime I connected the net cable, packet loss to everything else would skyrocket a few seconds after unplugging, full speed ahead!
  2. Opted to install server 2008r2. Raid came up fine. Unfortunately now I have another problem. Any time I plug it into my router, after a few minutes everything else in the house loses connectivity, including the new server. I tried replacing the patch cable with a known working one. Same thing. Went into the bios and changed the network settings including disabling Pxe. Same thing. Has to be something on the board not working like the built in nic. I think I’ll replace is Monday or Tuesday, whenever Newegg can get a low profile one here. Any other suggestions?
  3. I have a super micro x8dtu-f board in a 1u case. If I try to install Windows 10 pro on it with raid enabled in bios, it bluescreeens with a pnp watchdog error an reboots. If I set to ahci I can boot to install the os fine, but without any redundancy in this 4 drive system. The best I can achieve is 3 drives stripe-0 for storage and 1 drive to boot from. With raid enabled, the os doesn’t get to the first part of the install where it asks where to install everything, where it would ask for a raid driver
  4. goto control panel select Devices and Sound, then sound devices. there should be a config/settings button when you click on SPEAKERS. make sure you are set to 2 speakers if only using 2 speakers(plus and optional sub). after some os updates my system keeps setting to 7.1, which causes online videos to not work, but games work fine ?
  5. PC Building calendar featuring the wives of you tubers
  6. blah it started again. tried updating realtek's driver for the motherboard. at least with the USB sound it just goes silent during the hang. anyone else have this problem?
  7. System: EVGA X390FTW motherboard 32gb Optane module Samsung EVO 860 SSD 4TB WD Green HDD 8TB ReadyNAS EVGA RTX 2080 TI FTW 4 port PCI USB 3.0 card EVGA 1000 Watt Modular power supply (forget the exact model, used to have 2 GTX 1080s in SLI wanted more juice) Noctua NH-U12S (if i recall) cpu cooler Intel 9900k CPU after starting a game like WoW, the game loads, and sometime within the first 5-10 mins it'd sound like a chainsaw, and lock the system up for a few seconds, then resume (it never rebooted). I previously had an AIO and then a Noctua D15s, and had the same problem. so far I think I may have solved this problem, but its a bit late, i'll retest tomorrow. I wound up disabling the onboard Realtek audio on the motherboard, and replaced it with a External USB module, the Soundblaster Omni 5.1. The case still runs hot, even with the 12s coooler on (new case doesnt support the d15s height, around. i have the cpu coolers fan facing in the right direction, in a PULL configuration, instead of pushing through the the heatsink. for some odd reason. all other fans are blowing the right way. CPU idle seems to be 60c OC'd at 4.9Ghz. If I cinebench 20 it, i get to 93C with a 4652 score edit: changed cpu fan to the right side, and idle now is about 40c .. sill havent seen the stutter problem though since I just disabled onboard audio
  8. Have you tried the gpu in another slot? My wife’s pc would do the same thing until I switched it to the lower pcie slot
