I find it amusing (in a positive way, not in a wry way) that the 512GB 2.5" SSDs I bought ~3 months ago for ~30$ are now to the point where they are practically useless for game storage, and the 1TB drives are in the ~30$ range and are now the "minimum consideration size" for SS storage.
Now if I can just find some reliable 4TB spinner drives that are affordable...

    Not entirely... $125 Ryzen 5 5600.

This is the closest to its historical low back in early/mid November of 2022 when it hit $119 and $128-$130 is its common sale price over the past 6 months so at least someone here on this old platform might want to save another $3-$5. You'd be surprised how many people own a 1600/2600/3600 and can make the jump just by selling off their 1600/2600/3600.

The RAM speed demand for a 1600/2600 is much higher than a 5600. The benefit of your post is useful IMO.

    Slight heads up for people.

These have a higher than usual doa rate (they are basically leftover components drives). So if you buy in bulk test them asap because these peeps do not offer warranty support :p.

Also write speed is not good due to slow flash and no real cache. Entirely fine drive to read from and they'll go near max sata 3 for that

FriedEngineer reacted to mariushm in $58 plus sh. - SUPERMICRO A1SRM-LN7F-CS045 - ATOM board with 7 Gigabit LAN, IPMI, pci-e 2.0 x4 in x8 slot etc
Maybe someone is interested in these :  removed ebay link, didn't realize it's against rules... but if you're still interested after reading the edit in orange below, you can find link in the servethehome forum link

    Specifications below ...
My thoughts .. has 4 DDR3 slots with DDR3 ECC or non ECC , has IPMI, could be great for a pfSense / router machine, as a small dedicated server
Could also work as a NAS, 6 sata ports may be plenty for a small NAS
Could even work with a dedicated video card (only 4 lanes and pci-e 2.0 in a pci-e x8 slot but that could be enough) and maybe a USB sound card, as an older games machine
Has a bunch of relays on it that can be used to disable or enable ethernet ports ... even if you don't ever use functionality for anything, the price seems nice to me.

Supermicro site says there's a 12v DC In version - I don't know if it's the molex (ide style connector) on the board or if that's option for powering sata drives

Downsides :  Note no onboard sound, but usb sound cards are cheap.    Only 4 USB 2.0 ports on the back and a header and a usb type A on board (for usb sticks, booting etc). No USB 3.0 headers.

EDIT :   Saw this deal on servethehome forum,  and there's a note in the thread that these Atom processors may be affected by a hardware bug which can be solved by adding a resistor (or several) on the back of the motherboard. basically without the fix, after a lot of hours of usage, after a restart the CPU could be bricked and unfixable... resistor fixes it.

They ship it too so I doubt it would even be fulfilled (shipped). They’d probably pocket the money and Amazon would refund you. The only real looser here is Amazon I think, and any store silly enough to honor a price match.

Newegg right now has the Gigabyte M34WQ, a 34" 144Hz 1440p IPS ultrawide, on sale for $370 after applying the $30 promo code and receiving the $30 mail-in rebate.

The highlights are, of course, its 21:9 aspect ratio and the fact that it is flat, rather than curved like many ultrawides. This makes it better suited for productivity workloads, but arguably makes it worse for pure gaming immersion. That said, if you don't like the appearance of content on a curved panel, but still want a wide field of view, then this is a way to go.

The panel itself features good color quality and reasonable response times for an mid-range ultrawide, but the "HDR" nature is basically non-existent as it features no dimming zones and a relatively low 380 nits peak brightness. It is debatable whether it features a single overdrive mode experience, as optimal performance at the high end of the refresh range requires the "Balanced" setting while all lower refresh rates benefit more from "Picture Quality."

Like the majority of Gigabyte's gaming line, the monitor features a KVM switch, allowing you to easily go between two different computers while using the same monitor. I've loved that feature on my M27Q for doing work from home via a work laptop - I can switch to my gaming desktop with just one button press at the end of the day, and still use the display, mouse, and keyboard that I've grown accustomed to.

Here's Hardware Unboxed's review if you want a very in-depth look at the monitor:

Titanfall 2 Ultimate Edition is at a new Steam historical low right now. 94% Very Positive reviews.

It has never hit this price before on Steam and is usually at $4.79 during sale times. However, it did once hit this same $2.99 before but on Origin back in late April to mid May of 2020. So I figured there's definitely people out there that have yet to pick up the Steam edition of the game and now is the time to do so.

You have until February 2nd, 2023 to snag it at this $2.99 price, which is 2 weeks from today so there's no rush.

You have until December 21st, 2022 to claim the game. The number of keys might be limited, so grab yours fast!

Also, to celebrate the launch of The Witcher 3 next-gen update, GOG is giving away a collection of concept arts and wallpaper from the CD Projekt Red games.

Here is the link to the CDPR Goodie Pack. It's a rather decent pack of goodies, I remember claiming the Cyberpunk ones they had out like a year ago and I've had the wallpapers on my wallpaper transitions ever since.

Also, to those that may not know about the free official Microsoft application called PowerToys, I highly recommend snagging it. Reason being, it allows you to resize pretty much any size image into the size you want it to be. Very useful for resizing/rescaling wallpapers that are not in the native resolution of your monitor(s). It's come in handy over the years and it works perfectly for the wallpapers in this Goodie Pack. PowerToys allows you to do so much more for productivity(and not just for pictures) so be sure to check it out.
