Back when I was first getting into tech, I thought my PC was being slow because of the (10 year old) hard drives running at 7.2k rpm, but I did know that Western Digital sold 10k rpm drives. I thought that this extra speed would be all I needed, but didn't realize that it was probably because my PC was so old and running pretty slow hardware by today's standards. Now I have a much newer 5.4k rpm hard drive as my main/boot drive with decent hardware, and it's plenty fast for what I do. Boot times could definitely be improved, but it's surprisingly quick in pretty much everything else.

Kinda? They really try to push the take out section anyways, but I mean I'd rather sit down anyways.
The kind of place that's been around for a very long time, the kind of place your grandparents first "discovered" and now your family goes there because: A tradition and B its still good all these years later. The kind of place where the portions are big and the prices are low. The kind of place where floor boards creek and there's a bit of a draft near the window, but it's still charming with it's time capsule interior decor. The kind of place where you specifically go on a certain day of the month because a local choir of about 18 schedule a dinner there and practice their songs, basically making for free entertainment. The kind of places where you swear if you didn't watch them leave, the men at the bar really did lived in those bar stools because they're there every day reading the paper.

I'm sure a few will know what this is, but most prob won't. This is the first computer I ever got to play with. I was 5 or 6 years old when my mom brought it home. It's came with 80kb of ram! And the data drives used a cassette. Very cool little computer. This has been the one computer I really wanted to complete my collection (as if I could ever call it complete.)

But my plan is to phase out some of my older less efficient cards and sell them off to help finance the move. So I will most probably be folding on a 2060, 2070 and a 1080. My power bill has been crazy over the last few months and with the move really need to sort that out.

Hi This is my first post here not sure if it fits retro kit (the case is ) but is also a build...
This is a google album with a retro fit of a fairly retro system. It's my 2nd build ever, last one was in the athlon 2600 days -- so go easy !
Attached is a teaser image. The pics aren't all that good actually
kit list is:
Asus geforce dual 1060
ASUS P7P55D SOCKET 1156
Crucial DDR3 12G
Corsair 550W PSU
A kingston 60G SSD.
corsair aio cooler 2x120mm rad.
For me it wasn't about getting a balling rig, as much as repurposing the case. This is way better over the i3 and asus turks graphics card I got for free.
I have a newer CPU (i7 something) in the post.
PS - It's running Ubuntu and minecraft so it's actually overkill for this used case use case
It was also a way to get my Daughter into computer building rather than just playing. She helped with a bunch of the smaller tasks (memory, putting in the standoffs - taping up the huge cuts I made in the case. I wanted to add a big acrylic sheet to the side to give an inside view. I'm not so sure now as I actually like the monolithic look of this case. and the only rgb is on the corsair.
If the new CPU doesn't need much cooling I might sell the AiO on and just get a conventional nice noctua or something. I couldn't get this i5 to get any hotter than 41C with a stress test. So i'm not sure if the water cooling is overkill. It's the most expensive bit of the build. I was going to get a custom water cooling kit dead cheap (linus' banggood water cooling video) but I didn't fancy all the fiddling about.

This is a pic of the three LanParty variants for Socket A.
From left to right is the DFI LanParty KT400A, LanParty NF2 Ultra A and the LanParty NF2 Ultra B.
Sometimes it's difficult to tell them apart if not famliar with each, the pic shows these differences and it's not hard to tell which is which once you know the differences.
Look closely and you'll see them.
I've seen Ultra A's being described as Ultra B's on Ebay several times and that's not accurate, plus the Ultra B is the board that's known as the top board for that socket once modded. Ultra A's are good but will not run nearly as well as an Ultra B is capable of.
An Ultra B itself will not set records in stock form but no other runs like an Ultra B once it's modified.
All three boards shown are unmodified (Stock) making the Ultra B I have one of the very last in stock form you'll ever see.
No, I have no plans to mod it either - It's a show piece like the other two. 😎

My setup as of February 8th 2020:
This is my Temporary PC, specs:
Old HP Workstation Case
i5 3570 w/ stock Intel cooler
8GB of DDR3 Ram 1666Mhz
Quadro 1800FX, I can play Minecraft on it with a locked 30 FPS.
Samsung 840 Evo w/ 128 GB
Next to the Monitor stand is a bag and that belongs to my Sony WH-H900N ANC Headphones.
Dell P2416D Monitor
MX Master 2S
Collermaster masterkeys Pro s RGB
Logitech large mousepad
Really heavy duty Desk
Cheap Ikea office Chair
And this foot rest out of wood on the floor that I actually made myself because I got mad at the ridiculous prices for high quality foot rests.
So I lend this Tower from my brother because I sold off my old Zotac Zbox EN1060 to make some cash to buy new phone, Switch Lite and other stuff.
If I can hopefully get a job this year (and make cash) then I've got big plans to what I want to upgrade: Ryzen 4000 Series Notebook and PC if AMD releases Ryzen 4th Gen late this/early next year.

The site will go offline for maintenance on Saturday at 10:30 UTC. In your computer's time zone, that's available here. The maintenance is expected to last for about 5 minutes.
The only notable change in this release is that support for Emoji 12.0 and 12.1 emojis has been added, because you've always wanted to be able to use 🦨 or 🦺 on the forum. The full release nodes can be found on the IPS site, but it's not very interesting. In addition, this update adds the necessary backend support for templates for new topics - I am hoping to share more details and start rolling it out over the next few weeks.
If you encounter any bugs before or after this update, please create a topic in Bugs and Issues so that they can be investigated and resolved.

People still not understanding what ANC Headphones actually do (especially some of my family members) :
Was wearing my Sony WH-H900N ANC Headphones and watching a video on bed and my Mom yells at me from Downstairs thinking that I hear it. Later when I go downstairs to get something to drink she angrily asks me again the same question she was apparently yelling at me before and I'm like: Well first of all you damn well know that I always wear my Headphones at home and second you could have just come upstairs to ask me, it's not like I was in an important meeting or something also you are the one who is one WhatsApp all the time.
Not just that it's also the same case when I stand in front of them/walk past them and they clearly see that I wear my Headphones and listen to something...
