  1. My parents have asked me to come up with parts for a new office PC they are building. I haven't looked at any new hardware since 2017, so I am kind of out of touch with what is currently available. So their budget it of around €600-€700 (not much more). The main purpose of this PC will be to run CAD programs, moslty AutoCAD & SketchUp. The requirements for AutoCAD aren't all that much, so maybe the budget is a little overkill, but they also need something that will last a good few years without major upgrades. They are going to be buying everything in Italy, as that's where they are based (pcpartpicker has an italian version too, luckily). So, what do you guys recommend? Thanks in advance.
  2. Would've been pretty cool though haha
  3. You've really got a pet gorilla? I'll try this if there aren't any other solutions. Would you know if vinegar would ruin/corrode the cables?
  4. The power cords of my two monitors and PC
  5. My cat decided it was a great idea to urinate on my setup's cables, and now it all smells like cat urine... I already cleaned them with ethanol (pink alcool), and while the filth is gone, the smell is still there (even if not as intense as before). Some sites said that using vinegar could work, but I suspect it may corrode the rubber. Other alternatives where using coffee or tea, which doesn't sound all that great. Any suggestions? Cheers.
  6. Could you recommend me some other stressing tools? I know Prime95 isn't good anymore as it gives unrealistic temps and whatnot.
  7. It's got a pretty beefy heatsink http://www.thermalright.de/kuehler/7/macho-rev.a-bw
  8. Why not? I often render stuff (Sony Vegas), so it'll help a bit. Plus, do you think it's a stable OC (looking at the above info)?
  9. I just overclocked my 4690k to 4.2GHz @1.200V I stress tested it for 15 minutes with Aida64, max temps where 70°C (package). Should I push for a higher OC (4.5ghz, possibly?) Cheers.
  10. I'll talk to my friend about it. When is the market release?
  11. The 280X should be fairly more powerful than the 1050, but it could possibly bottleneck a little, yeah
  12. Thank you! The 7970 isn't listed anywhere on craigslist-like sites here (local for me). I found a GTX 770 listed for €150, I could ask for €120 or lower.
  13. So I'm building a PC for a friend and I'm deciding between a new 1050 (possibly Ti) or a used Sapphire 270X I found on my local equivalent to craigslist. His budget is €470/480 (that's really pushing it to the max). This is the build so far: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor (€86.64 @ Amazon Italia) Motherboard: *ASRock FM2A68M-HD+ Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard (€50.99 @ Amazon Italia) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (€62.58 @ Amazon Italia) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (€20.47 @ Amazon Italia) Video Card: Palit GeForce GTX 1050 2GB StormX Video Card (€132.29 @ Amazon Italia) Case: SHARKOON MA-M1000 MicroATX Mid Tower Case (€36.99 @ Amazon Italia) Power Supply: *SeaSonic ECO 430W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (€45.82 @ Amazon Italia) Optical Drive: *Samsung SH-118CB/BEBE DVD/CD Drive (€13.50 @ Amazon Italia) Total: €449.28 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available *Lowest price parts chosen from parametric criteria Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-01-05 13:31 CET+0100 The 1050 retails in the €130-€160 range The 270X is listed for €90, and I could throw a low ball to get it down a little. Which one shall I get? Cheers.
  14. Hello, I've got a P8 Lite and the stock charger is a 1.0A one. Would I be fine switching to a 2.4A one? Will it damage the battery overtime? Cheers.
  15. Misread, sorry! I'll see what I can do about the PSU. I thought about going used, but there aren't many (almost none) options near my area (most parts are outdated and overpriced).
  16. That PSU is a tier 4 lol. I can't go overbudget as he's on a very tight budget himself (he's already going a little over what he originally thought of spending). I'll go for the G4400 then.
  17. This is the best suggestione so far. Those €10 aren't a problem, €40 for both monitor and peripherals are plenty. Should I be going for 1600 ram for a few euros more?
  18. First of all, you are going €80 overbudget. I said that my friend's budget is €400 and that the monitor is just a placeholder. Second, the PSU I chose is perfectly fine, XFX's PSUs are all fine choices, especially on a budget. I went for the athlon x4 since I don't know if my friend is going to ever upgrade, so a quad core CPU wouldn't be a bar choice. (I'll talk to him about upgrading, if he wants to I'll get him the Pentium. Thank you for the response
  19. Can you OC on a A68H chipset? If so, I'll get him that CPU.
  20. I'm building a budget gaming PC for a friend. Budget is €400(-ish) He's got €50 for monitor and mouse+keyboard (the monitor I put in the build is a placeholder) I'll be getting him a used monitor for €20 (768p) and the rest will be going in cheap peripherals. This is what I came up with: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD Athlon X4 845 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (€67.49 @ Amazon Italia) Motherboard: ASRock FM2A68M-HD+ Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard (€50.21 @ Amazon Italia) Memory: Patriot Signature 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (€42.56 @ Amazon Italia) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (€20.47 @ Amazon Italia) Video Card: XFX Radeon RX 460 4GB Video Card (€135.58 @ Amazon Italia) Case: Thermaltake Versa H15 MicroATX Mid Tower Case (€39.90 @ Amazon Italia) Power Supply: XFX XT 400W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (€45.99 @ Amazon Italia) Monitor: AOC E970SWN 18.5" 1366x768 60Hz Monitor (€71.98 @ Amazon Italia) Total: €474.18 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-11-30 23:16 CET+0100 Any suggestions/recommendations? What I switched: GPU - the 6GB version will give you bit of a boost with games PSU - the one you chose isn't particularly good Case - you chose an ATX case, but your motherboard is mATX (meaning it's of a smaller form factor) -it would work, but it would also look kind of odd. MoBo - went for a cheaper one to save some money, as you probably won't need the extra features the other one had (this has the standard essentials). You can buy Win10 off of kinguin.net, that'll save you $70-80 (buy off of highly rated sellers).
