An M.2 SSD is still an SSD.
Any kind of SSD these days is more reliable than an HDD.

An SSD can last a super long time, the usual advice is not to fill it up all the way (but it'll last 8+ years even if you do). An old hard drive will be too slow and clunky, don't use it as a main drive.

That's what I thought too since I like open world games, the 2600x might be a better choice.  But is my 1060 good enough for 2600x? As of now, I can't pinpoint which is the bottleneck in my setup.
So with Ryzen, will I gain an increase in gaming performance overall than the first one? Yeah, I'm wary of used gpu but the one I saw was just bought earlier this year so I think it's kinda safe?

Most miners take good care of their cards.

I'm currently running an ex-mining card in my system, I've had no problems whatsoever with it.

I would personally go with the ryzen setup. The parts are all better, and new.
The 1060 paired with the ryzen is still more than enough horsepower at 1080p

also now that the crypto-currency bubble is more or less popped, i would be weary about buying used graphics cards

The 2600x will be significantly better than the i7 especially with the platform being newer and still having cpus being released for it. All of the games you are playing are very thread intensive so the extra 2 cores and 4 threads will help quite a bit.

HotPickleDelivery reacted to Windows7ge in Stuck in BIOS!!!
What I often do is not trust those options:

It's possible the drives have been set to boot using Legacy which the BIOS may not have Legacy enabled. With what are now becoming modern boards we boot using UEFI. If the USB installer wasn't set to perform the install via UEFI then every Legacy boot option will fail.

I can't say this IS the issue but you can try two things:
    1. Enable Legacy boot in the BIOS (if it isn't already)
    2. Re-install windows with a USB configured with UEFI boot (if it isn't already)

If both of those are already the case then I'll need some time to think of something else. Usually when I do BIOS updates I do it the standard way via download it your self from the manufacturer, put it on a thumb drive, plug it in and do the standard flash option in the BIOS. Never used any E Z Flash tools. I don't trust them.

Mumbai/Delhi: Apple Inc. will begin assembling its top-end iPhones in India through the local unit of Foxconn Technology Co. Ltd as early as 2019, the first time the Taiwanese contract manufacturer will have made the product in the country, according to three people familiar with the matter. Importantly, Foxconn will be assembling the most expensive models, such as the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR, the person said, potentially taking Apple’s business in India to a new level.
The work will take place at Foxconn’s plant in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, the person added. Foxconn, which already makes phones for Xiaomi Corp. in India, will invest ₹2,500 / $ 325 million  crore to expand the plant, including investment in iPhone production, Tamil Nadu’s industries minister M.C. Sampath told Reuters. The investment may create as many as 25,000 jobs, he added.
A second person declined to be named as this person is not authorised to speak to the media. A third person confirmed Foxconn planned to assemble iPhones in India.

HotPickleDelivery reacted to Sauron in Music Industry stole a song and copy strikes the original. (Which has 47Mill views) Youtube won't do anything about it. #TheFatRat #TheCalling
The album was an antiquated method of distribution - its death does not mean the music industry is dead. Services like Spotify and iTunes still rake in plenty of cash. I'm not defending piracy here, I'm just saying the music industry is the source of most of its own problems - their resistance to changing their methods is what hurts them the most. As proven by netflix, steam, spotify and others, piracy is defeated by providing a better service than the pirates. Nobody wants to pay for a worse experience, but most people will pay if you offer better convenience.

"Making it" as an unknown musician has always been very hard without a significant investment from a big music firm - that's nothing new. With that said, there are platforms today which allow you to make some money (if people like your music) and possibly repay the recording cost without going through the classic distribution channels; youtube itself is one such platform, unless big firms stealing your music becomes a trend. A few examples are:
pentatonix the piano guys the fat rat (this incident aside) frog leap studios too many zooz And I'm sure you can come up with more. Yes, the big money is in touring, but that doesn't mean you'll die of hunger trying to get there if you have the talent for it.

Regardless, even if we disagree on how big of a problem piracy is, surely we can agree that copyright law as it is right now doesn't stop piracy and is often more harmful than anything else...

The links I provided show total revenue loss, not just album sales (which aren't the same).  There is a huge drop in total revenue.
Not for musiciians they don;t, in fact the link I provided shows that streaming services have actually been bad for musicians income, not good.
They didn't resist the changes though. they adopted streaming and legitimized it which is why spotify, itunes, pandora etc are legal services.  The problem is they are are competing with piracy too and the streaming model does not provide sufficient income.  I don't think spotify has even made money yet. If they have it would have only been recently and at the expense of royalties.
As above, they haven't defeated piracy, they are fighting it too,  Lifting tracks from you tube is the new piracy, and that has been shown to be causing just as many problems as it did for physical album sales.

A lot more, but that does not change the fact that piracy has killed the industry, Unless you like the fact everything you hear on the radio and the top 40 are seeded industry cash grabs and that the days of variance in original bands/artists are over.
The law isn't the thing doing the harm, the law doesn't prevent someone creating and distributing their work.  I don't see by what mechanism a law that prevents people from ripping off your work is causing any damage?

The spirit of the law is just fine, the problems come in the form of abuses that stifle competition and give too much control to big firms. Granted, the music industry suffers from that less than other media, but it's still there - distribution platforms negotiate deals that may or may not end up being worth it at the whim of the publisher; sometimes there are exclusivity deals which force you to pay for multiple services for a single album; up and coming artists can be scammed into giving away their future success to a corporation.

Oh, and fighting an unjust copyright strike can be too much of a burden on a person with an average income.

    I'd say it needs work.

HotPickleDelivery reacted to AlTech in How to make your AMD Radeon GPU more efficient with Radeon Chill
So, you might be wondering how to make your AMD Radeon GPU more efficient and use less power.

Well fear not, Radeon Chill can help!

First, an explanation of what Radeon Chill even is. Radeon Chill dynamically adjusts your GPU to perform as fast as you want it to when you need the performance the most and saves power when you don't need performance.

To use this you'll need a supported AMD Radeon GPU running at least Radeon Software Adrenaline Edition. For best results, install Radeon Software Adrenaline 2019 Edition.

    1. Installing Radeon Software if you haven't already
If you haven't already installed Radeon Software you can do so by visiting the AMD website and finding the drivers for your Radeon Graphics product, downloading the drivers and installing them.

    2. Enabling Radeon Chill in Global Graphics settings
Once Radeon Software is Installed, you'll need to enable Radeon Chill in the Global Graphics Settings. By default it is turned off.

Now, you can go to the games you want to use it on and configure it there.

    3. Configuring it for a game
Now let's configure Radeon Chill for a game.

You should see some, if not most or all of your games pop up here.

    #

If they don't then you can click on Add and select either "Browse" and manually add it or "Scan" which should automatically add it although in my experience this doesn't always work.

Once you found a game that you want to configure it for, click on it.

And then enable it for that game and drag the sliders to where you'd like.

For games where fluidity is important where you're expecting to get around 60-80fps I would recommend a range of 50-90 fps. If you're expecting to get 140 fps then I would recommend a range of around 60-144.

If you're playing CS:GO and want to get at least 144fps consistently whilst playing then something like a range of 140-300 would probably be a good idea.

For MOBA or RTS titles, AMD recommends the "RTS/MOBA" option.

    4. Finishing up.

In some games the difference will be a lot more noticeable than in others.

This is an example of Chill being used in Cities: Skylines although typically with chill the power consumption is around 70w instead of 64.5w on my card.

An example of a lot of action going on in COD Single Player where you need performance. Screenshot is a bit blurry cos it's from a video I recorded but you can disregard the quality since Chill doesn't affect the quality. The key thing to note is the 116.9w power consumption.

You can clearly see in a situation when I didn't need as much performance because there was no action and no bad guys to fight, the power consumption was reduced to 68.4w.

You can learn more about Radeon Chill on the official website for it.

Radeon Chill can be used for any game although the ones with official support are more likely to work as intended.

One thing to note is you may not see a huge difference depending on the kind of framerate you desire and also depending on the GPU you're using.

All the screenshots with performance and power consumption were from my Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 8GB.

I hope you guys found this guide useful .
