  1. I'm running it at 4k, which should be possible via a DP 1.4 connection which is what I'm using. Everything hardware-wise supports 4k, 144Hz, HDR, so it seems to be a software-side issue.
  2. It's not an app-side thing though if I can't enable it in Windows itself, not on a per-app basis or anything.
  3. Out of nowhere, my monitor will not allow me to turn on HDR at 144Hz, only at 60Hz, or lower, even though it was doing it completely fine for several months. I haven't changed anything that could cause that and overall it seems like a Windows issue. The second I click "Use HDR", the button just goes from being on to instantly off. Why could that be? I have tried different cables as well but still nothing. I have done nothing to the PC that should've caused this changed or made any Windows changes when it started to occur out of nowhere.
  4. My monitor does support HDR. The list in my profile was out-of-date so I deleted it.
  5. So all of a sudden I can't enable HDR in Windows. The second I click "Use HDR", the button just goes from being on to instantly off. Why could that be? Seems to be a Windows-side issue as on the monitor everything seems to be set up correctly to allow for HDR. Even before if HDR was turned off on the monitor it still allowed me to at least turn it on in Windows, even if made the screen not look quite right. I have tried different cables as well but still nothing. I have done nothing to the PC that should've caused this changed or made any Windows changes when it started to occur out of nowhere.
  6. For an old-style case with the PSU at the top, drawing in air from the same chamber as the rest of the system, would a tower or top-flow cooler be better? In terms of airflow, the case has space for a 120mm on the front, a 120mm at the back, a 80mm on the side panel on the same level as the CPU socket, and a 120mm just below that.

  8. For several months now I had to deal with a lot of BSODs and crashing and general instabillity. Pretty much no troubleshooting I've done so far has helped so I'm starting to fear it's a hardware issue. Found one guy who's good at analysing minidump files and understand a lot on how Windows sub-systems work, and even he's confused as to what my PC is doing when he looked over the minidump files. Sometimes I get the normal BSOD and the PC restarts after its done collecting data, sometimes it just restarts on its own without a BSOD, sometimes it freezes up completely where I have to restart via the restart button, and sometimes things start to break in Windows, like the Task Manager becomes super laggy, icons on the desktop stop working, etc. to the point where I also have to restart via the button, as pressing restart in Windows also doesn't usually work by that point. However in the last few weeks, the actual BSODs where you get the BSOD screen have become more rare, and instead the PC either freezes up or restarts at random, but still generates a minidump file. The BSOD codes are pretty random, and I get pretty much all your standard error codes along with some more exotic ones from time to time. However it only seems to happen at idle, when the PC is under a very light load, if any, for example watching a YouTube video. Another issue I have that may or may not be related is also a pretty odd one. Whenever I boot up my PC (and seeing how it can crash every few minutes that's often) the taskbar appears completely blank. Restarting the Windows Explorer task does nothing. But if I first close the AppX Deployment Service, and then restart Windows Explorer, then I get my taskbar back. So any help on this will be very welcome given how often it can crash when nothing is running in the background. While I was making this post it froze up and rebooted twice! I've attached some of the Minidump files, but naturally it's not all of them given how often it happens. I tried all the basic troubleshooting already: SFC, DISM, Memtests, etc. Even good and trusted Windows repair tools haven't helped. Another note is that I am running Windows 11, but before people go "Urgh that's what you get for running a new and buggy OS!", the situation got both better and worse in different areas since I upgraded to 11 when it first launched. Firstly the taskbar issue is a lot better, as before, the entire desktop would be glitched out and just would constantly flash black and gray, with none of the icons visible. It would only get back to normal when I ended AppX and restarted Windows Explorer.. Now it's only the taskbar that doesn't work there. However, before all the crashes would come with a BSOD, I wouldn't have these weird instances where the PC would just restart out of nowhere or elements of Windows would just break until I restarted. The crashes have also been the most common these past few weeks, despite me making no further changes to my PC in this time. This issue in general came out of nowhere, I didn't make any big changes to the PC around the time it started happening, and my PC worked fine for ages before this started happening. I don't have anything really exotic in my rig either. Minidump.zip
  9. Like I said in the OP, I've done all that kind of basic troubleshooting already and still nothing.
  10. Looking at my installed programs lists it is listed as installed, though I can't even be sure as it doesn't allow me to uninstall it, or install it again.
  11. So I've been unable to install things like Creative Cloud and some games recently as they all say that some .dll files are missing. So I tried to reinstall the Visual C++ redistributables via the all-in-one that's available and I just get the error below. Already ran all the basic troubleshooting like SFC and DISM, so what else can I do?
  12. Checked in the dir it's trying to install to but found no files there, no error log or anything else.
  13. I've completely uninstalled any remains of my Java install, tried running it as admin, tried running the offline installer, tried installing to a different path, changed the path's permissions to allow more stuff. The thing I haven't tried that I've seen recommended a lot is to disable it from the Java control panel, like that post you linked suggested, as I don't have the Java control panel at all.
  14. Yeah I read it before but nothing on there solved the issue for me.
  15. Probably a bit of a niche question but does anyone know how to fix Java install error 1603, because I can't install Java at all on my PC? It happens whenever I try to install Java no matter how I try to do it. Tried it in admin, tried the offline installer, none of them work and all return the same error. None of the other ideas I found online helped. Because of this I'm left without Java on my PC which is kinda bad so I really need some solution.
  16. I just need to have all the devices that will need the extender to be on the same network to function properly. Again doesn't have to be super "effectively" just as long as it extends the signal. So if I went for a mesh system, how would that look like exactly? What will I need to connect to the router and which one should I buy?
  17. I also need something that doesn't require an ethernet cable. So like one of those standalone WiFi extenders, just ones that don't make a new network.
  18. Well I just want something to help extend the WiFi range a bit. Budget-wise looking for pretty much the most affordable option available that fits those parameters.
  19. So I'm looking for some kind of WiFi extender that doesn't create a new network. I've heard such exist but I just can't find any. Does anyone know a good one I should go for? Or do they just not exist? It doesn't need to be ultra fast as long as it doesn't create a new network it's fine.
  20. Ran the virus scan and nothing. Also don't really use the store anymore. Used to use it for Game Pass games but pretty much use the Xbox desktop app now.
  21. Did already run it along with some other tools, all reported the drive is completely healthy.
  22. I've been having this issue for the past few weeks, sometimes when I turn on my PC, but mainly whenever I get a BSOD, which happens often and I guess is caused by this problem. When I reach the desktop, the desktop is completely black, no background, no icons, and the taskbar is also empty and just popping in and out. I can't click on anything on it either. I can go into Task Manager however and that's where I first noticed that during that, one of my hard drives, drive F:, was apparently at 100% use. So I opened up my PC, disconnected that drive, and the issue instantly fixed itself. I reconnected it and nothing bad happened either. Because I didn't want to unscrew my side panel every time this happened I began looking at the processes for anything strange, to see what is using up that drive. I finally noticed it's a Windows process called "AppX Deployment Service" and when I end it using Task Manager the problem also goes away. I tried seeing if I can disable the service so it doesn't run and cause this issue but that doesn't seem to be an option. What could be going on? I already ran CrystalDisk Info and even Seagate's own drive tool, and both reported the drive is completely healthy.
