  1. got it working properly. changed one setting to auto and it bumped up the cpu to the 5Ghz turbo that it should be running.
  2. there is a review on best buy about the computer i have, they said they changed a setting in the uefi and got the cpu to turbo, but im not sure what to change to get it to work.
  3. im thinking its in the uefi, but i dont know what to change to get it to turbo.
  4. cpu temps never get above 54c while running cinebench. it has a dual fan aio radiator setup from ibuypower on the cpu. its not a thermal throttling issue as it NEVER goes above 3.6Ghz even at the start.
  5. i have a pre built system with an i7 11700kf cpu using an asrock z590 motherboard. no matter what i do, the cpu will not go past 3.6Ghz. turbo boost is enabled in the bios as well. im not sure what to do to get it to the 4.9Ghz that it should be able to turbo at.
  6. swapped out the psu and my system works great again!
  7. i dont have another of either currently. i have a new psu on the way to rule that out though. it happens instantly when trying to run furmark, so i doubt its a temperature issue. i also have 3 intake and 3 exhaust fans on my case run on a thermaltake 6 fan controller in one of the optical drive bays.
  8. system specs are: joshua h61 mobo i5-2320 cpu 16gb ram corsair cx 750 psu i just tried to play saints row 4 today and it kept shutting off the system every time i tried to change the video settings, like all the power in the system went out and it restarted automatically. thought it was weird, so i tried playing nfs heat, a game that i could play before no problem. shut down on the loading screen. tried furmark, instant shutdown. decreased the settings in afterburner to about 50% of stock speeds and power on the gpu. could run furmark, closed it, tried again two more times and on the third time it shut down again. this leads me to thing its a psu issue, since when i turned down the gpu power, it was able to handle it for a bit. i just wanted to run this by someone more knowledgeable on the subject to make sure i had my ducks in a row? i already have an evga supernova 750w g5 psu on the way along with a used i7-3770 for giggles. hoping its not my gpu, but if it is, i'll just have to get my hands on a 3080!
  9. i forgot about that! so thats going to tack on about $150-200 more.
  10. looks like i can get a whole new motherboard and 2600x for about $300-350 all together. thats not that bad! how hard would it be to switch my windows 10 license to the new motherboard/cpu though?
  11. im looking to upgrade my cpu as i think its the bottleneck in my system currently. i have a stock Joshua h61-uatx motherboard with a stock i5 2320 cpu and an msi r9 390 gpu with 16gb of ram. i was thinking of buying an i7 3770 for this motherboard, but was wondering if there was anything that could be had for around the same price thats better (about $100 for the 3770 cpu)? maybe even a motherboard that can be had with a better cpu for not much more? the reason im asking, is because im currently having frame rate issues on a game i play called beamng.drive. it will go at a steady 60fps for the most part, but in some areas while looking around, it will drop to about 30 fps and be stuttering a bit. i dont know if i need a 1080ti to fix it or a new cpu though. i have looked at the loads on both the cpu and gpu and they only reach about 70-80% on the cpu and about 60-70% on the gpu while playing.
