Even better! Get a new SSD for it and do a clean Windows install. There's your wife's new office machine.

Maybe pick up a new case for it too, if the current case doesn't look "professional enough" and she expects to have clients visiting.

Don’t think they will - as they now do their own!

im a happy owner of the M1 pro chip and it’s lightning fast - faster than my windows pc.

downside? Limited amount of games, some software needs to be emulated or use wine to run.

Depending on the budget/purpose (assumably general gaming) you might be better off with iGPU… or a Steam Deck.

My first thought is: Have you checked all fittings/connection points and ensure that they are tight? No room somewhere for either air to come in or  water vaporising due to heat (although not sure on this last point)

the motherboard doesnt, technically, its build into the cpu.

100% wasted 20$ and tax, the tpm is built into the cpu

    what psu?
    a 60$ 650w doesnt seem like its be safe for a 12700k

I wouldve gotten a 12600, 2x8gb ram, and a cheeper b series motherboard (with wifi built in), cheeper case, better psu, and a budget gpu.

or a ryzen based system, the 5700g would destroy the 12700k without a gpu (its like 2x-2.5x as fast)

Believe Bosch was the first to implement this but it was more for tool tracking in industrial or commercial use and if they took it off the jobsite that it would deactivate.

I recently found another alternative at a random Goodwill.  I figure it was a waste of $8 but might be fun to tinker with.  Much to my surprise not only is the driver easy to find but was updated in 2020. Apparently it was a more popular device in Japan.

I was even more surprised to find ribbons weren't too hard to find at Amazon Japan.

The results are rather nice too!

The only product placement from Apple that I've seen is during first time launching the Music app which will offer an Apple Music trial and the TV app which will offer a trial for Apple TV+.

It does show on initial setup and even when a user agrees, he/she can turn it off in the settings.

Stormseeker9 reacted to Kisai in Bitfinex sets record with titanic $4.5B and $5B BTC transactions
Bitcoin is quite literately doing what everyone knew would happen. All the "value" ends up in the pockets of a few, who already had deep enough pockets to invest in the mining in the first place. So they will turn around and dump their speculative holdings when they see it won't rise any farther, leaving whoever is stupid enough to be left holding the bag with bitcoins with no value. So the "rich" people will have gotten out a month before the value crashes, and then everyone else will want out, but find nobody willing to buy it, so the price will rapidly crash.  Because bitcoin has no value in the first place, whoever is last holding it is likely just to abandon the wallets. Then that's it, Bitcoin and all competing cryptocurrencies are dead.

The "fees" for trading are far too high for anyone to be willing to use it for any purchase, and too slow to use for impulse purchases. So let's reverse the numbers here. If the crypto exchange fee is $20.00, and energy is $0.10 , $200 in energy is wasted per transaction regardless of the transaction's value (Assuming that was the break even point.)
So the amount of money you have to exchange to make it "better" than:
Western union (4% of principal, or around $50 per 1000, depends on country)  = $400
    Walmart (10% of principal) = $200
    Paypal ($4.30 +2.9% of principal) = $541

Like never mind shipping checks or other monetary instruments through the mail or courier.

If Bitcoin or some other crypto currency ever establishes itself, it will only be for very-high value exchanges, think mortgage payment or rent. And only as an interstitial. Nobody in their right mind would hold onto cryptocoins as a store of value with the kind of volatility it has.
