  • Biography
An easy going bloke who used to lurk for the longest time. If you like pones, furr, anime, animals, tech, planes, trucks, trains, bacon, guns, freedom and many other things we can be friends.

I got my start in the tech world when I was but wee lad. My sister had a broken laptop screen and the local shops wanted $800 to repair it (the computer was only worth $500) she begged me to do it, so one YouTube video and Amazon shopping trip later, I had it done for $30 (the price of the screen) and dinner. That was my foot in the door, which ended up just opening itself.

Even though I work custodial at a school I still do loads of tech things. Anything from running communication cable throughout the building, installing security cameras, large scale projection, lighting, and live sound mixing.

I'm in a band too! But as the sound man (I won't self advertise tho. So if you're really that curious, DM me).

I hope to one day be a commercial pilot for Southwest Airlines. I declined a legit government IT job to pursue this, so I better fucking make it.

  1. Wow. My 2700x and Radeon VII are already outdated. Screw it all, I'm gonna whore myself out to afford the latest shit each year.
  2. The ability to quote the entire OP in a thread should be disabled site wide. I will block anyone who quotes the whole fucking thing. If you need to break it up into pieces to answer specific questions, cool. Do it. But to just click the "quote" button and respond, fuck you. You're the kind of person who doesn't use turn signals and who doesn't check before merging into lanes. There's never any reason to quote the whole OP because the person who made the thread is there for a fucking reason. Fucking hell..

I can answer that one for you. It's definitely not anonymous. Some people have received warnings from mods for abusing the report function. They know who filed them.

Correct, we can see who reported things.  I don't think this is or should be a secret.  However no one else would ever have this information.

what about just not expanding the quote? like using spoilers

  3. Flying with Southwest made me realize there's more to life than being pampered and tended to. While I'm happy about being comfortable while flying in first class, I'm much happier when I feel like I'm part of something good. On a good number of SWA flights they play games with you. The most famous one is toilet paper races. You have a roll of fresh TP and it has to go from front to back without tearing. First side to get it from front to back wins (they're not the only ones that do this I'm sure). While you don't win anything material, you do feel good not because you've won, but because you're interacting and socializing with people you'd otherwise never even look at. It makes all of your earthly problems seem small and insignificant. You begin to understand that you're not alone, even if no one is in the room. Everyone exists on the same plane of reality as you, and anywhere you turn is life. Life you can always count and rely on when you're in need. Son-of-bitch we're talking about planes and I turn it into an existential crisis (I should save this kind of energy for my fanfics). Ya first class is pretty dope. I think I prefer both equally as much.
  4. I used to fly a lot as a kid. We always flew first class with whatever airline we could. We frequented AA mostly. My first time on Southwest I detested because there's no first class. That said, it was one of the best flights I'd ever been on. Since then, I personally started flying with them more and more, even turning down first class on my favourite aircraft, the 757. Southwest doesn't treat you like a number, they treat you like the human being you are. They're very nice, but not overly bearing. Kinda like the Chick-fil-A of airlines. They love their jobs and have as much fun as they can with it. I never check luggage anymore (personal preference). But when I did, they were the only airline to never mistreat it. They never broke anything, and I even transported a hole ass train set (in N scale) via checked luggage with them. Yes, their boarding process is asinine. But if you can get past that, you'll enjoy your flight. It's rare for a flight to be "bland" as usually there's at least one flight attendant who puts on a little show and has fun with their job. Sometimes the captain will even point out historical sites and places of interest if passing by. We once learned about Malta and the fires, and how the Maltese Cross became the symbol for being a firefighter in today's times. Put all that on top of the fact that they only use 737's. Their entire fleet is the same series of aircraft. This means they have a much better time with maintaining them, and you as a passenger have a smoother overall flight (give or take some variables). Southwest seems to take very good care of their birds. I've only ever had one aircraft that had an issue while flying with them. It took longer for the engineers to get to us than it did to fix it. IIRC Their accident rate is one of the lowest in history. They only have ever had three deaths in their time as an airline. There was an incident where a plane overran the runway and killed a person in a car. The second one was a would be terrorist, thanks to brave passengers beating him to death as he tried to break into the flight deck. Third one was very recently, and non-arguably the worst. A woman was sucked out of a window mid-flight. She died of a blunt impact to the head. It was caused by an engine explosion throwing shrapnel into the window which caused it to break. It was a fan blade that had suffered metal fatigue. I don't know anything else about it.
  5. After further research, it seems I'm mostly mistaken. Key word mostly. As long as ones loop does not contain any PETG, it should be fine. But to me it just seems wasteful in the end. If you go through with it you're best off diluting a 50/50 mix even further to 70/30 or 80/20 (water to antifreeze ratio). Consider how much waste you'll produce when doing this, and how you'll dispose of it. Around where I live (USA) I can dispose of motor oil for free at any auto parts store, but most don't take antifreeze and those that do charge a fee. It may be different for you though, so look into it. Also regarding Jayz video I linked below, he has a follow up video with the same test bench and same antifreeze filled loop. The pump died, but because of a short in the wiring, unrelated to the antifreeze. He does however replace the antifreeze with some other kind of PC cooling solution (figured I'd save the hassle of watching the other vid). https://www.overclock.net/forum/134-cooling-experiments/401891-regular-car-coolant-pc-3.html I guess it's up to you. If you want to go through the hassle, by all means. But personally, I'd just stick to the premixes for PC cooling.
  6. Then how'd you afford a PC? I honestly don't have this issue. And the room I'm in is fairly small.
  7. Chipset drivers are not USB drivers. Make sure you install those as well. Are you using a USB 3.0 or 3.1 port? I have an older MSI motherboard that would throw a hissy if I tried using any 2.0 device in the 3.0 port. Not sure why, but maybe that's the issue?
  8. Naw. He's saying it's not gonna be all that warm, and the air flow from the fans alone will cancel out any meaningful source of heat and you'll end up being more cold than before.
  9. Probably in the magic dumpster. Where did he say this and did he give other details? I thought I remember him talking about something like this in WAN show at some point but he said the performance was ass because it may have been more than a QLC design.
  10. You might have shit cooling if your exhaust isn't at least somewhat chilly when blowing directly on you.
  11. I just found that stuff on Eaby for 20 bucks, free shipping, from the US: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Aquatuning-AT-Protect-Clear-1000ml-/264472694994 I would just go with this, honestly. Will save you time and headache, and a lot of money by going with it. Antifreeze will eat away at the tubes and seals in the cooler and you'll have one hell of a leak, killing whatever it leaks onto.
  12. EK-CryoFuel would be a good way to go. It includes biocides and corrosion inhibitors, and is of course safe to use with all common types of PC water cooling. They have a premix solution, where you do not add any water or anything else to it. Just pour it in your loop, shake the air out, and you're good. They also have a concentrate of the same stuff. I'm not sure if the concentrate contains a higher amount of biocides and corrosion inhibitors than the premix. But here are links to both: https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-cryofuel-clear-premix-1000ml#ow_alert_box https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-cryofuel-clear-concentrate-100ml-rev-2#ow_alert_box
  13. I've never had any issues my VII. That said, I would only recommend it if you really need the 16gbs of VRAM. If you can get away with less VRAM, I'd go with a 2080S.
