  1. Sounds like a plan! Will look into USB soundcards. Thanks for the quick response and good advice.
  2. Hello, I read through the pinned posts on this forum category, but I just wanted to confirm my specific case before making a decision. Whenever my graphics card is at high load, I hear an annoying high pitched whining coming through my speakers and headphones. I have tested this in multiple ways, and can confirm that the problem stems from my graphics card and nothing else. If I turn my volume to max (via windows), the whining becomes louder and more pronounced. Something to note is that the graphics card itself makes a similarly annoying whining noise when i put my ear close to it, but the case it closed so its not nearly as much of a problem as it coming through audio. If I bought a dedicated PCIE sound card, do you think the problem of the whining coming through my audio would be solved? (As I would be plugged into the sound card, rather than the onboard) Thanks for your time, - Daniel
  3. Be very careful with static voltage on Ryzen CPUs! 1.35v sounds quite high. I have heard that the max safe static voltage is 1.325v, but there really isn't any evidence to back this besides a few Reddit posts. Don't panic, you likely haven't hurt your CPU by running that voltage, just do a bit of research before going any higher. Ill edit this with more info, just want to let you know now before you go any higher. Here is a video from linus's chanel regarding ryzen 3000 OCing:
  4. Thank you for the insight, I will look into a fresh install of windows + drivers if the problem persists after setting everything to stock. I certainly hope its not a network hardware related problem as I wouldn't have the slightest clue on how to solve that.
  5. Hello! First of all, parts list for relevant info: CPU: AMD 3950x (stock) - Infinity fabric OC'd to 1900Mhz@ SOC = 1.094v RAM: G.SKill Triden Z Neo - F4-3600C16-16GTZNC (See attached html file for detailed typhoon burner description) - OC'd to 16 19 19 39 Trc58 Trfc495 - 3800Mhz(1900Mhz) @ 1T command rate MB: Asrock Aqua x570 - BIOS: P1.71 - AMD AGESA Combo - AM4 1.0.0.4 (since: 12/7/2019) Cooling: Pretty meh, CPU hits 80+ peaks and hovers around 70~ during games. Been trying to sort this out for a while but the CPU might just be too hot for my current fans to dissipate Problem: Occasionally my PC will become unresponsive to the point of being unusable, and needing a reset, but oddly enough I can still interact with windows to some extent. The first time this occurred I was watching a video on google chrome, when I swapped to a different video player, and suddenly I noticed that I could no longer interact with google at all. I then tried to open task manager, and it opened fine, but I could not change the active tab from the default one that opened. I then opened HWinfo64 to see what was potentially going on, but it also became unresponsive after opening it. I could still drag the windows around, resize them, and press the windows key / use keyboard and mouse to open new programs, but once they where open they would just not ever be intractable. NOTE: none of the programs ever actually said "program is not responding," they just simply wouldn't ever change. The second time this occurred I was playing Warframe. When I finished the mission I was in, the game had a normal countdown to select your rewards, but there where no rewards on my screen (but the countdown was still going down). I was on discord at the time with a friend who was also in the mission (I was the host of the instance), and I heard him say, "Daniel? Are you there?" (I'm assuming he could no longer hear me) then I also heard him say "Host migration!?" before I could no longer hear him. My computer then started exhibiting the exact symptoms of above paragraph, where I could open everything but not interact at all after it was open. Temporary fix: After restarting my computer, everything goes back to normal and it works perfectly fine. (Even restarting literally immediately and jumping right back into the game). I can then play for hours more on end without experiencing any problems. My thoughts: All of these problems make me think it is a RAM problem, rather than a CPU problem, but I really don't know as I have run memtest overnight with not a single error appearing. I have also left my CPU on stock settings, except for setting the infinity fabric to 1900Mhz to match my ram speed. I have been running these same settings for months on end without any problems, and they have just now started to appear frequently (vs none previously). Questions: How would you approach trying to diagnose the problem? If it is RAM, why is memtest not throwing errors? If it is the CPU, why is it just now doing this, when it has been running fine for months without problems? Thank you very much for your time! I appreciate any insight, or even just opinions as to what you would try and do to fix this G.Skill F4-3600C16-16GTZNC.html
  6. Well, today the new power supply arrived. My Hope's were shattered as it doesnt work either. I dont know know what to do at this point, as my other power supply works with the motherboard, so I'm not going to go through the rma process for that. I also am not sure what I can do about the power supply either, since two have displayed the exact same symptoms which implies it's not a faulty power supply. I didnt think it was possible that a power supply and motherboard could be incompatible if it has all the right connectors, but here I am. Heres a shitty YouTube video I made showing the symptoms:
  7. Thanks for the help. I contacted EVGA and they said that it is very odd something like this might be happening, so they suggested I start an RMA process anyway. I'll update this post in a few days with info on whether or not a new one works. If the new one doesnt work, I think it's safe to say that for whatever reason it may not be compatible, but I'm hoping that's not the case.
  8. How can it be the motherboard if the computer still boosts up fine when I use the other power supply? And thanks for identifying the cpu
  9. No, I completely swapped all cables and did not ever mix them as I've heard that is bad.
  10. I recently bought an EVGA 1600P2 since it was on sale for a pretty decent price. (directly from EVGA.com) The thing is, it does not work with my main system. It will cause lights on the motherboard to come on when the power switch is put in the "ON" position, however when I press the power button on my PC I just hear a brief power noise and nothing happens. At first I thought it was completely faulty, so I plugged in my old Corsair RM850X to test if my computer was now fried, but the computer successfully boots. I then plugged the 1600P2 into a shitty old pc, and it boots fine? What is going on here? Are certain PSU's incompatible with certain motherboards? Main System (Won't boot): Asrock Aqua X570 AMD 3950X EVGA RTX 2080Ti Old System(Will boot): No idea, its really old. Bios says Gigabyte-UEFI dualboot with model name: 970A-D3P No idea EVGA GTX 970 Im not sure how to proceed, as I clearly can't RMA the power supply if it works with one system.... One thing I never tried was resetting the CMOS after i swapped the power supply, but surely that would not influence anything. Edit: tried this, still wont boot. Any info would be greatly appreciated
  11. This might sound like a stupid question, but realtek is driving me insane... Is it still possible to re-task rear audio jacks, ie, can i change my rear speaker out port to a headphone port instead using software? Motherboard - Asrock Aqua x570 On my old motherboard, (2013, sadly forgot the name but it was MSI) I remember that realtek looked like this: With this realtek executable I could do tons of stuff, including re-task the rear ports. On my new motherboard, I don't even get a standalone executable, but instead get a shitty built in windows one riddled with minor errors and confusing sub-menus. You may notice that it says connector retasking in the image below, but the re tasking is limited to "line in" only. basically useless. All in all, I would really like to know if anyone has been able to meaningfully re task their ports on an As-rock board, and if so, please enlighten me as to how! Side note: Following the instructions on this website: https://www.reaper-x.com/2012/02/13/how-to-remap-retasking-realtek-onboard-jacks-ports/ I have tried changing the binary values of the ports in the registry editor, but changing those values had no effect.
  12. How would i go about setting a steady minimum voltage?
  13. Today I turned on my computer, and booted up World of Tanks, only to notice it was lagging even in the garage. I opened task manager and to my amazement my processor was running in the sub GHz range! 0.7-0.9 No matter what program I opened, it would not boost above 1Ghz. Luckily when I restarted windows the problem seems to have solved itself, but I'm still making this post as I am interested about how this problem can even happen. In hindsight I should have opened up HW Info and seen what voltages and wattage the CPU was running at, but I was more concerned at the time with making sure the thing would fix itself then figuring out why it was not working. Does anyone know what could have possibly caused this? Do I have reason to be concerned in the future considering something like this has happened? Thanks for your time! Extra Info just in case it is needed: CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3950X Motherboard: Asrock Aqua Power Supply: Corsair RM 850X The CPU is running at stock settings, but I have enabled XMP for the RAM. Otherwise everything is basically stock. Before this, I have experienced no problems regarding any of my components
