  1. Hi all, Soon I will be moving places and I just wanted to gather some tips for moving the precious PC hardware. So far I was planning: Taking out the GPU, putting it back in the anti static bag and then in the original box which I all still have Taking out the spinning rust (hdd's) and wrapping them in packing paper, then in a separate box with air packs. Filling the rest of the CPU case with air packs. Notably leaving the Corsair H115i waterpump/CPU cooler unit attached to the cpu. For the PC case I also still have the original box so after adding aforementioned airpacks I'd close it up again and put it in the box. As for monitors, I still have their original boxes and the styrofoam so I was planning to simply put them in there. Not sure if I still need to have some thin sheet of plastic to cover the display? As for peripherals, I have original boxes for mouse, keyboard, headset, mousepad, (LTT) deskpad and headset stand so I'll be using all of those. These I was planning to just pack in a larger box and let the movers handle. And finally I'm planning to move the 4 boxes of case, 2x monitors, and drives myself rather than letting the movers do it. Do you guys have any other tips? And can you give your opinions on the bold-italic bits? For reference this is my hardware: https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/user/Favna/saved/#view=gVLf99 Much appreciated!
  2. Another reputable source to list, XDA did their own investigation: https://www.xda-developers.com/harmony-os-2-0-initial-version-based-on-android/ That said, honestly I'm not surprised at all. I was skeptical from the moment that they announced it and this just proved me right. You don't make a mobile operating system from the ground up proverbially overnight. There's sooo much that goes into it (most never being visible to the end-user).
  3. Hey guys, Since not too long ago on one of my displays I've starting seeing random green artifacting, primarily on moving images, here is a video showing it (bad quality phone recording as it's not showing when recording with software): Video 1: Unknown video Video 2: Unknown video Some things I have noticed: - This only happens on one of my 2 displays, despite them being bought at the exact same time and being the exact same model connected by identical displayport cables, basically all identical. - The problem goes away if I disable the monitor / switch between extend displays and duplicate displays and back - It also goes away after reinstalling the drivers - However in both cases it comes back when I reboot the PC, and redoing the steps above once again makes it go away - It seems to mostly be around lighter areas of a video, as you can see in video 1, it seems to be focussed on the white wall as well as the spots on Linus that are not covered by shadows. Or in the video 2 you can see it's very specifically in some spots of the snow, but not the rest. - It doesn't appear when the monitor with issues is the only monitor that is connected - It seems to only appear on images and videos. For example if I put Discord in light mode (oof) then despite all the white areas, the only spot where it shows up is inside an image that's visible in the chat. Some things I've tried: - Clean reinstalling nvidia drivers (actually only through software, not with Display Driver Uninstaller yet) - Using a different DisplayPort on my graphics card - Using a different DisplayPort cable - Switching ports between primary (non troublesome) and secondary displays - Only having the troublesome monitor plugged in - Restarting PC, of course, as stated above this is actually what makes it return after resolving it - Updating BIOS I'm not sure if my next steps should be contacting Amazon, where I bought the displays, and set up some kind of warranty return (the monitors are a little over a year old now and there's a 2 year warranty according to Acer's site). Or maybe you guys can suggest some things to try. Anyway I'm honestly lost and having to disable-reenable a display on every boot isn't exactly a great thing to do, right now as a hacky yet working solution I scripted this process in a batch script that I have in the "startup" folder... it "works" but I don't like the solution at all. @ECHO OFF displayswitch.exe/clone SLEEP 2 displayswitch.exe/extend Semantics: - I have 2 identical monitors, Acer Predator XB241H. They are set to GSync enabled in all applications and 144Hz at 1080p. I have the latest Nvidia drivers at time of writing installed. - My specs are: BIOS version: 6.20 (latest for my motherboard as seen on https://www.asrock.com/mb/amd/x370 taichi/index.asp#BIOS) OS: Windows 10 Pro Insiders slow ring (version 2004, build nr 19041.207) - 64 bit Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor Motherboard: ASRock X370 Taichi ATX AM4 Motherboard RAM: Corsair Vengeance LED 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB GAMING OC Video Card PSU: Corsair Builder 750 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
  4. Most recently updated topic I found covering the Swacket. I've been checking daily since October 9th as it said restock would be between October 9th and November 9th but I checked just now and now the Swacket entry is entirely gone from the site. I have the same question as Favebook, is it ever coming back? I would really love to get one? Or @ Linus:
  5. To be entirely frank, I know that much. I got this PSU quite a while ago with the very reason to be able to hold onto it for a very long time. Anyway all over thanks for all the information MBowen! Frames here I come ??
  6. How about PCIE slots? Tweakers (Dutch tech site) says these 2070 Super cards take "3 slots" while I only see "golden" bits on the PCIE slot part. The latter should fit just fine but this whole 3 slot thing is confusing me. Screenshot taken for my motherboard: (sorry I just don't want to mess this up, I honestly kind of live and die by PCPartPicker's compatibility so straying from it gives me lot of doubts)
  7. Hey all, Soon I'll be upgrading my pc and the release of the 2070 Super couldn't be better timed for me. However since PCPartPicker haven't been updated yet I can't say for sure if the model and brand that I've chosen so far would be compatible with the rest of my rig. Would really appreciate it if someone could take a look at things and tell me what they think. This is my current build, including the parts that I will be buying along with the 2070 Super (those marked as not yet purchased): https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Favna/saved/xfdGcf This is the GPU I was currently eyeing: https://www.aorus.com/GV-N207SAORUS-8GC (GigaByte AORUS GeForce RTX 2070 Super 8G), or alternatively I was also considering this one: https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N207SGAMING-OC-8GC#kf (GigaByte GeForce RTX 2070 Super Gaming OC 8G) And while I was choosing components last week (literally the 2nd, I pressed F5 only to see the LTT vid on the Super) I was eyeing this normal 2070: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/krhKHx/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-2070-8-gb-gaming-oc-video-card-gv-n2070gaming-oc-8gc. For reference, this is my current GPU (it's ooold): https://pcpartpicker.com/product/byp323/gigabyte-video-card-gvn970g1gaming4gd
  8. @Vasllo The VGA monitor currently uses a VGA to DVI Dl adapter. I thought VGA to HDMI for that, and I found this one (in spoiler to avoid huge image in post). The idea I had was to plug this into my monitor end then route an HDMI cable from the adapter to the card. I doubt I would profit much from also jumping through another adapter to DP after that. @LukeSavenije I considered AMD but I've always been a Team Green kinda guy. I'd prefer to stay there.
  9. Hello people, I'm looking towards getting a new GPU somewhere in the coming couple of months however I could use some advice on picking the one as I'm mostly torn between 1070 Ti and 2070. Yes yes I know the whole RTX on/off meme but personally I'd keep it off 90% of the time and just embrace the seemingly slightly better performance the 2070 offers over the 1070 Ti. Port layout and port slots are very important to me since I don't want to have to replace my monitors just yet. 1 monitor only has a single VGA so I was thinking a VGA to HDMI adapter, the other has a single DVI-Dual Link (24+5 pin) as well as a single HDMI, however the HDMI is generally taken by my Nintendo Switch and soon also PS4. Not sure if I'm going to invest in one of those HDMI switch boxes yet, if I am that HDMI also becomes available for PC, otherwise just the DVI so account for an adapter of that to DisplayPort or something other. All in all I'm just not sure what to pick. The 1070 Ti cards I see all have a single DVI-Dual Link port which for my port issue is kinda nice but they're not that much cheaper than the 2070 and at the end of the day the slightly better performance probably gives me better future proof. Currently I have a 970, so whichever I would go for would be a huge upgrade especially as it's the weakest link in my system as a whole. List of bulletpoints to address: My maximum budget for the GPU is €550 (that's euros) I'm located in The Netherlands Note that we dont have Amazon nor Newegg here for store linking. If at all possible when linking a card, the ideal site for us is Tweakers.nl My aim for the upgrade is purely related to gaming. I currently struggle to get a stable 60fps in AAA games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Far Cry 5 and to be frank, I'm sick of that. I know the benchmarks and I know my GPU is the weakest link in my system as a whole. It's time I upgrade it.
